God gifted man free will BUT man use it agains man, why?
Because of nature of man, greed, conflict of philosophical beliefs and ethics.
Man created god and evil in the beginning of dualistic thinking when their cognitive began to realize opposition so what they liked or learned to like they call it god and heaven and what they do not like call evil and hell because most of them are not brave or educated to be realistic about reality.
Conspiracy is not only a warfare it is a cancer to humanity.
It's as if humanity went into a coma and in that coma had a dream of religion. At some point we need to collectively wake up and know that we have access to data that did not exist 1000 years ago. What will humans 1000 years from now think of our time. We had an opportunity to evolve but instead went to church.
How does nothing create nothing? Why is it that Christianity is the ONLY "evil" religion? It's funny - of all the religions, this is the only one he chose to bash.
The problem with religion is that people are not willing to accept anything about it as untrue. But scientific truth can be amended, so it progresses. Science is an unending search for truths, while religion has anterior established truths. But no worries, it is only a matter of time before science overwhelms religion and people can no longer justify extraordinary beliefs.
I just had an insight. Convincing others the stupidity of religion will be very similar to the building process of complex life. Both will take a while..........
I used to find it difficult to believe that the average I.Q. in the U.S. is around 98 cause everybody I know is fairly smart. 45% of Americans believe in a young earth? Now I see who is dragging the average I.Q. down.
i. q. has very little to do with being a young earth creationist. because when u believe something, despite there being evidence to the contrary, u've stopped thinking. and when u've stopped thinking, it really doesn't matter how well u can otherwise think, it's just no good.
This isn't just about the institutions of Religion vs. Science. Religion is by nature against any free thought and action on everything. It's the biggest wreckage to the very basic fundamental nature of humanity that there is, and I'm so fucking sick of seeing people's lives ruined by it.
That story about the elderly professor who was proven wrong is awesome. I don't think I've ever witnessed anything like that, most people have too big of an ego to accept that they're wrong when they obviously are.
'EVIL' - lotion. There, it even sounds like 'evil'. That proves that these Dawkins people are stupid, and cannot see the truth of Christ in their farts.
Science explains allot. but it requires allot of effort to understand. most people use up their energy working. On average people spend 15min/week thinking about how the world works. Religions gives answers that fit in those 15 Minutes Science rarely does. We need more one sentence explanations, else the general public doesn't understand not understanding = being suspicious not understanding = ignoring
Doesn't science always repeat itself? How can you believe in Evolution, which cannot be repeated, and has NO PHYSICAL PROOF? You have faith. It is wrong, but you believe blindly that what Darwin said was truth. Well answer me this. Since man came from apes(primates) why have we never seen a woman give birth to a monkey, or a monkey give birth to a baby?Evolution would support that this is a possibility. But it has never happened and never will because we did not evolve. We were created.
@naiely81503 I think it's a safe bet that you've never actually been taught the theory of evolution. If your comment is serious and you're not just joking, you really need to learn how evolution actually works.
@naiely81503 To try to answer a question as stupid as yours, would render me dumber than I was when I woke us this morning, I'll pass, do yourself a favor and crawl under a rock. Ignorant morons such as yourself are the problem.
Richard is asking a question if there was a designer who created all this who created the designer. I think the answer of this question is that the Physics were created by the designer and it is ridiculous that we apply the physics created by the designer on the designer himself.
I really don't know why you think I am a fool?!! I think you are insulting someone who you don't really know just for his opinion and you are not even saying anything useful.
"An Alpha male in the Sky" this is the most hilarious paraphrase of God I ve ever heard. :D
I really hope that someday people rid themself of the burden called religion. It is a shame that 300 years after the era of enlightenment and all the knowledge we ve gained since then about how the world came into being, religion is advancing forward again and people still kill each other in the name of their " Alpha male in the Sky".poor humanity.
In my opinion the human race definitly needed religion, it gave us the foundation for our society today, but notice I say NEEDED. Religion has no use anymore, it has served its purpose and no longer has one. When will people realize this
"Richard Dawkins stumped by creationists' question (RAW FTGE)"
Read the description as well ;)
The only agenda Dawkins has, is to make lots of money off his pure fiction books. Anyone fool enough to follow, are sheep for the slaughter, The Blind Leading The Blind. After all, No one going to hell wants to suffer for eternity alone. True Love does not seek it's own, but be careful folks, as there are plenty of "WOLVES" out there who play the meek and mild who could care less.
If APES Still exist, Then why aren't the more "Evolved" species between APE and MAN still living? If in fact they so "EVOLVED" and more intelligent than the monkey, for what reason were they not able to survive?
The very reason Scientist's call it the "Missing Link" and still missing
And most of this mans theory is based off foolish interpretations, false religion and lies. Nothing more than a money a making racket to BUY his books/lectures, based off his own personal views.
@subatomicparticle83 "99% of the scientific community accepts evolution. are you saying that they are all wrong?"
94% of the Human Race believe in GOD, so what's your point? Do you always believe in something just because others do? btw, 99% of the scientific community DO NOT BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION, that's just what you heard off this absurd video and is a lie. I've proved my points, why not prove yours?
Too much work? I'm willing to stand up for what I believe, and well worth the effort. ;)
@Acecool444 yeah but what people believe in doesn't really matter. and it's not 94%. scientists on the other hand know how the universe really works. they don't need god to answer their questions because they know better.
@subatomicparticle83 "scientists on the other hand know how the universe really works."
Really? can they explain why the universe has no ending? What exists beyond BLACK HOLES? and if there were an ending, what's on the other side of that ending? Or have they formulated the ability to produce one single living cell? The ability to explain Time Infinite? or what was here before the universe? How it continues to Expand? Or Disprove God or his ability to create everything you see around you? No!
@Acecool444 you know what i mean. i was talking about guys like bill o'reilly with his tide goes up, tide goes down nonsense. asking some questions no one can answer doesn't really prove something, does it. and you can't prove a negative. meaning you can't prove something doesn't exists. you believe in something so the burden of proof is on you. not on the people who don't want to believe it
@subatomicparticle83, "hahaha you can call me what ever you want if that makes you feel better about yourself."
Seriously, You don't make me feel better about myself having to go off topic to show you the error of your ways. You and those like you, not only embarrass yourselves, but the entire human race, thinking that men of your age even type the words "hahahah".
Let me give you some advice! Get over narcissistic self, grow up and try as you might, give a rational educational response.
@Acecool444 "the error of my ways"? lol you're retarded, guy. you are the one that believes in all this nonsense, not me. and you are the one that started acting like a little baby when i pointed that out, not me.
@subatomicparticle83 Yada yada yada, Give it up! No one wants to hear about your anger problem, nor do we find it very entertaining to listen to your finger pointing. Your basically what we "intelligent" thinkers know, as nothing more than antagonistic and somewhat of an irritant. If you can't stay on topic or say something intelligent, then why waste your time? Sorry, but as I said before, Your reaching, and know you don't have a leg to stand on.
@Acecool444 not a leg to stand on? well, let's see... there's no evidence for id or creation or whatever they wanna call it. there are mountains of evidence for evolution in various scientific fields and 99% of the scientific community accepts evolution. now tell me again...who doesn't have a leg to stand on?
@DrakillT What was "mean" about what I said? I only spoke the truth. Satan is the father of all lies, delusion and confusion. That my friend was to help others know that the delusion is the other way around.
Even Jesus himself called his adversary's "Hypocrites, Brood Of Vipers, Sepulchers fill with dead men's bones, The blind leading the blind, Evil, Foolish, Liars, etc, and even went so far as to kick over the money changers tables lashing out with a horse hair whip in his fathers temple.
GOD is not the author of confusion, There is only one TRUE RELIGION!
James 1-27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
To help those less fortunate than yourselves and not be part of MAN MADE PHILOSOPHY, as it comes only from the Devil, the father of lies, deception and confusion.
It's the author and followers of this video that are delusional and lost.
Yup america is totally going to take a long time to become free thinkers and probably that's the reason why People hate americians because they are so dam ignorant.
I'm from Colorado, and I am sorry for Colorado Springs. Any rational person living in Colorado thinks that the Springs is a scary place. I'm just glad I don't live there.
so.. just saying something can make it true- proved during the Bush administration. Ignoring facts to continue to follow conjecture is just foolish to me..
@CRISNCHIPS12398 I agree it's bullshit, but I was born into a believing family. I was a believer for years. I can't tell you how hard and how terrifying casing off those beliefs were. It's certainly not just stupid people, or even mainly stupid people. It gets a hold of you young, and it doesn't let go...trust me, it's harder than you think.
i hope -and have grounds to believe- that in some countries, like greece, religion will after two or three more generations get the folklore role that it should have, and my grandchildren will only see church as a think that belongs in tradition, just like the olympian gods and so many other things that used to be considered true... unfortunately, i don't think big countries like the US will have the same luck....
@loserofnothing Soooooooo, you'd rather be related to a lump of dirt and clay?! I choose science. Christians need to pull their heads out of their asses, and shove their egos up it, and realize that its not such a bad situation to come from apes, when you've got a lump of muck as an alternative ingredient for their life.
I'll never understand the issue with evolution really, I'm different then my parents which means my dna has changed, there is nothing that prevents me from changing over the next generations at all, therefore, evolution is real.
The fact I have things from my grandmother(lefthanded), the nose from my grandfather, the height of my mother and the temper of my father make this pretty clear.
Or I can just read some papers and all that thinking ain't needed. I shouldn't re-invente the wheel.
Ffs I wish people would stop looking at America... They are nothing more then a European by-product who have done exceptional well but in the long run just don't have the European experience and base of knowledge... They are bound to fuck up and they already are... I love them but play time is over -_-
@jmlew the only way it belongs in a history book is if they are documenting the many evils it has committed throughout the centuries not at all as a historical book lol
The history of religion with an overall outside perspective can be educational, since it is part of culture. What I am by no means implying, is the biased historical and literal account within each religion as truth. In an educational context, it would be wise to refrain as much bias as possible: such as exposing the many evils of religion, but also to teach that the positive effects of religion can stem from other sources that aren't detrimental to critical and logical thinking.
@jmlew We both can agree that religion has some positive benefits. But if any doctrine of a particular religion cannot logically be taken as literal truth, then what means do you have of defining truth without special pleading? I believe one must take their entire religion as absolute truth or else they are just picking and choosing what they want to believe. Which is not truth... This is my problem with religion.
at this exact moment theres 666 comments! the irony of saying this on a Dawkins documentary was too good to pass up. haha i love to see him rolling through America in his ride bumping rap, that's awesome. my nomination for coolest scientist of the 20th century.
I feel that we are never going to understand this reality we in which we live. We could have a million years, and not figure out this problem. Every answer we receive will only result in yet another question, in an endless cycle.
@Maximus21x I totaly agree with you that we might never understand the reality around us. The Universe is so complex and our brains are not evolved to percieve on such a scale, but does that really mean we should claim we do know based on a man made book in a time when we didnt know there are microbes, religion is a pre-scientific guess. I find it hard to not have an answer but the natural world as we can undertstand it with Science is so amazing. I hope we get some more answers in our lifetime.
Check out "THEOMATICS" No Man Nor all the computers put together could never come up with such a magnitude of intelligence...But don't just browse over it, Read it thoroughly before trying to debunk it.
THEOMATICS is not only Scientific proof, but even more incredible, Mathematically proven! Others unqualified try to debunk it, but leave out very important factors, as they lack the full understanding as it is very complex.
@Acecool444 that would be a major scientific breaktrough. and guess what...no one has even heard of this book. it's just some more creationist bullcrap. it's time to wake up and smell the shit, buddy. all this nonsens you believe in is nothing more than a figment of your imagination.
Sorry to bust your bubble mate, but THEOMATICS is one of God's best kept secrets and more people know about it than you think, yet the most damaging evidence against atheism. The very reason the unbelievers will do anything to try to disclaim it.
No different than "some" scientists who try to dispute Noah's Ark which was found in the Mountains of Ararat just as the bible claimed. see Bible Discoveries Flood Explained
@Acecool444 you're crazy, dude. listen to yourself. all the crap you creations make up to make your little fairy tale work is just rediculous. that book would not be kept secret if it was the real deal. but it's not. that's why no one heard about it. end of story.
@subatomicparticle83 Not very many people (like yourself) know about it, as it's too complex for the simple minded. Your maturity level is that of a brat child, but your intellect is that of someone under 15. Name calling is for children and your 27 yrs old? Don't you think it's about time you grew up a little?
Don't expect another response, your hardly a worthy opponent.
"Argue with a fool, they just beat you with experience" Only an fool would waste his time.
@Acecool444 hahaha you can call me what ever you want if that makes you feel better about yourself. but that doesn't change a thing about all this nonsense you believe in.
The beautiful thing about these arguements, and I mean the religious ones, is that humanity lacks the mind capacity to deal with existence always having been.
Richard Dawkins is a scientist, anything subject that delves into the supernatural is by definition outside of the realm of science. Although I agree with prof.Dawkins on just about every point I find it ironic that he gets so upset when religious people attempt to use religious methods to understand and explain science and yet he takes an approach of scientific to explain religion, this makes him look like a hypocrite. We should focus on keeping religion out of science classrooms.
I don't understand those who invoke a supernatural designer. Everything that we do know is explained by naturalism. Why bring up the supernatural for what we don't yet understand? It seems like fear of the unknown to me.
@MassLiberal1 "Everything" is a bit of a stretch, but you might find it interesting that evolution (naturalism) is not the ONLY worldview in which everything (i.e. the universe) can be explained. The world as we know it, the scientific evidence, can also be explained using the notion that there is a designer behind the self-evident design of everything we see around us.
Why bring up naturalism for what we don't understand yet? It seems like a fear of the Creator to me.
@kartune85 Science damn well should be biased towards materialism/naturalism. Science is the study of nature, not the supernatural. As our knowledge as expanded, the gaps where used to place the supernatural have grown smaller and smaller. What room then for a desinger? I fear no creator b/c I seek to understand the cosmos as it was created. A good god would prefer that to the uneducated masses invoking ancient scriptures and superstitions. Peace.
@MassLiberal1 "Science damn well should be biased towards materialism/naturalism. Science is the study of nature, not the supernatural."
I believe you are quite right in saying that science "is the study of nature, not the supernatural", although I would point out that scientific evidence, when used as evidence for how the universe, and all things within the universe, came to be, is interpreted/explained using different worldviews or axioms.
@MassLiberal1 "As our knowledge as expanded, the gaps where used to place the supernatural have grown smaller and smaller. What room then for a desinger?"
The idea that God is diminishing more and more as science explains different laws of nature is absurd when you consider that these laws are so complex and integrated that it's not reasonable or rational to believe that they came about by chance rather than being set in motion at the beginning by the omnipotent Creator God.
@MassLiberal1 "I fear no creator b/c I seek to understand the cosmos as it was created. A good god would prefer that to the uneducated masses invoking ancient scriptures and superstitions."
Now you're branching into theology? It just so happens that God has revealed what he prefers THROUGH ancient scriptures (i.e. the Old and New Testament) and through sending his Son, and he certainly doesn't command us to refrain from understanding how He created the cosmos.
@kartune85 But that's exactly the problem w/ basing your worldview after the ancients. They couldn't possibly have known the things we know today through the sciences. No deity worth venerating would reveal itself just through ancient scriptures to people who thought the earth flat and at the center of the universe. God will become even more irrelevant as science uncovers more and more about the natural world. Nature is inspiring b/c it's real, the supernatural is uninspiring b/c it's fictional.
@MassLiberal1 "But that's exactly the problem w/ basing your worldview after the ancients. They couldn't possibly have known the things we know today through the sciences."
For a start, Christians don't base their worldview on "the ancients", but on the truth of the Word of God revealed in the Bible. The scientific revelations we have today confirm the veracity of the Bible. In which way do these revelations diminish the One who created it in the first place?
@MassLiberal1 "No deity worth venerating would reveal itself just through ancient scriptures to people who thought the earth flat and at the center of the universe."
Firstly, He not only revealed Himself through the Bible, but also through His creation.
Secondly, if you look into the Galileo story, you'll find that Galileo believed in God and the controversy was not science vs religion, but against the long held view of Aristotelian science vs Copernican science.
@MassLiberal1 "God will become even more irrelevant as science uncovers more and more about the natural world."
I beg to differ. The further we look into nature, the more we realise just how complex everything is, and how many things are interdependent.
Many arguments against I.D. made by Mr Dawkins initially sound convincing, but when you look a little closer, you see just how finely designed things are (i.e. the human eye).
@kartune85 You advocate I.D.? Even most Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, liberal Protestant) accept the evolutionary understanding of life. I.D. is nothing more then a god of the gaps, neo-creationism. I know that it's natural for humans to attribute intelligence to the cosmos but most of us have moved on from that belief. Nature herself is a self-desinging process. I.D. advocates say, 'we don't know how this happened, must've been intelligence'. They halt the progress of science.
@MassLiberal1 "Even most Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, liberal Protestant) accept the evolutionary understanding of life."
This may be true, but that doesn't make it right. The Bible clearly states how life began, how much time creation took, and the order of events, and if these "Christians" want to deny what the Bible clearly teaches, then maybe they should question what they're basing their faith on.
@kartune85 "This may be true, but that doesn't make it right. The Bible clearly states how life began, how much time creation took, and the order of events, and if these "Christians" want to deny what the Bible clearly teaches, then maybe they should question what they're basing their faith on."
I agree. I was once a theistic evolutionist myself but later found the position wanting. But it seems strange to question the Christianity of the Catholics. Whose more Christian then them?
@MassLiberal1 "But it seems strange to question the Christianity of the Catholics. Whose more Christian then them?"
Although I believe there are Christians within the Roman Catholic church, the church as a whole has teachings contrary to what is taught in the Bible, things such as praying to Mary, confessing sins to a priest, salvation by works, etc.
So my answer would be that Biblical Christians who believe in Jesus as their Saviour and live according to His Will are more "Christian".
@MassLiberal1 "I.D. is nothing more then a god of the gaps, neo-creationism."
I believe that the Creator is an Intelligent Designer, which is evident in the intricate design of everything in the universe, from the stability of orbiting planets, to the interdependence of plants and animals, to the laws of physics, etc.
I also believe that the Bible reveals, and history confirms, that the Creator came to earth as prophesied in the Old Testament hundreds of years prior.
@kartune85 By positing a creator god the question must be asked, Who created God? You'll say, 'God is the ultimate explanation and unexplainable so the question is absurd'. Well then why not save a step and say the Universe, in one form or another, is its own explanation? Even if there is a desinger, how could we know? The Universe wasn't made for us; its existed for billions of years w/o us and will exist after we're gone. And why the Bible and not the Koran or Vedas? Join the modern world.
@MassLiberal1 "By positing a creator god the question must be asked, Who created God? You'll say, 'God is the ultimate explanation and unexplainable so the question is absurd'."
God tells us in His Word that He is eternal/infinite. Wouldn't this mean that if God was created, then "His creator" would need to be more omnipotent, more omniscient, more eternal, etc. than the infinitely omnipotent, omniscient, eternal God?
@MassLiberal1 "Well then why not save a step and say the Universe, in one form or another, is its own explanation?"
Taking into consideration the Laws of Thermodynamics, there is good evidence that the universe had a beginning, and the universe couldn't have existed prior to its existence, which leads to the idea that it must have emerged from somewhere, and that time, space and matter didn't just appear without any driving force.
@MassLiberal1 "Even if there is a desinger, how could we know?"
We can know because the Designer revealed it to us through His Word, by means of history, through self-evident design in nature, and through the workings of the universe. He also came to this earth 2000 years ago to confirm His Word and fulfil the prophecies in His Word which He foreordained to happen.
@MassLiberal1 "The Universe wasn't made for us; its existed for billions of years w/o us and will exist after we're gone."
That's a statement of faith, not of fact. I believe the universe was made for us, which is evident by the massive expanse of the universe, with our planet being the only one inhabited by intelligent, self-aware, moral beings (If there are others, please let me know).
The chronological timeline of the Bible indicates that the universe is only several thousand years old.
@kartune85 Billions and billions of years of cosmic evoultion preceded us, no way all of this was made w/ us in mind.
Several thousand years old, seriously? Even ID advocates would laugh at that. We know for a fact that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and the Universe 13.7 billion years old (in its current form). You dispute these sciences? Do you believe in dinosaurs? Most Christians reject young-earth creationism. St. Augustine and Origen called it irrational. You're crazy, just crazy.
@MassLiberal1 "Billions and billions of years of cosmic evoultion preceded us, no way all of this was made w/ us in mind."
That's if you choose to blindly believe the evolutionary dogma used to interpret evidence. There is no irrefutable empirical evidence showing how old the earth or the universe is.
For a creation point-of-view, we have eye witnesses who were there just after the universe was created, and their history was recorded and passed down through the millennia.
@MassLiberal1 "We know for a fact that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and the Universe 13.7 billion years old (in its current form). You dispute these sciences?"
Actually, you don't know for a fact that the earth is that old, and to claim that it is unquestionably so is not a virtue of science. I don't dispute sciences which involve testing, observing, verifying things we see here in this universe, but I do oppose interpreting these observations using a false presupposition.
@kartune85 "False presuppostion"? You mean like the Bible? The biblical writers couldn't have posibly have known the things about the cosmos and earth that we know now. You can trust the ancient writings of ghoat herders, I'll go w/ science. Science gave us the internet and ability to have this conversation. Religion gave us "creation science". We'll see who goes farther. Peace.
@MassLiberal1 ""False presuppostion"? You mean like the Bible?"
I believe the Bible is an historically accurate record of the events that took place from creation onwards, and that the first man and woman were created perfect and, since the fall of man, has been degenerating over the generations.
I am yet to see anything that verifies the historical accuracy of the evolutionary presupposition of deep time.
@MassLiberal1 "Obviously there's no scientific fact that can convince you of evolution."
Yes, I believe you are right. There IS NO scientific fact that exists to convince me of evolution. All the scientific evidence is INTERPRETED as being millions of years old.
Ignorance is bliss... until the day of judgment arrives.
2 Peter 3:7
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
@kartune85 Evolution is an undeniable fact, change over time is a fact. The theory of evolution by means of natural selection, an explanation how we got here is a THEORY - if tested always works, which allows us to senquence the genes so for example when the influensa virus comes again it wont kill us all. You know there's absolutely nothing to do about points like you just made exept to underline them. You just made your own conclusions and then preached some. Wonderful
@Albinnaab That depends on what type of "change" you're referring to.
It is true we see change in organisms that involve mutations, loss of genetic info, etc., but this evidence doesn't suggest that chemicals have the capability of developing NEW information.
The evolutionary idea that organisms evolved from non-living matter, and humans subsequently evolved from apes or similar is unproven and unsupported by scientific evidence.
Natural Selection could only work if the info was already present.
@kartune85 The evolutionary idea that organisms evolved from non-living matter? Go read a book, science book not christian misunderstanding of scicence. The idea that non-life created life is called abiogenesis, it's a hyopthesis among many. Evolution is a fact and a theory. Homo habillis, homo erectus, neandethals are fossils that shows the gradual evolution to homo sapiens. Dating methods shows the age of these and the earth. Dna similarity is 98% between chimps and humans, give me a break...

Seeing as the Bible does mention dinosaurs, and this is then confirmed by the discovery of fossilized dinosaur bones... then yes, I do believe dinosaurs exist. Do I believe they are millions of years old? No. I believe the fossilized dinosaurs are a result of the global flood as recorded in the Bible.
Most Christians who hold to Biblical inerrancy do not reject young-earth creationism.
@MassLiberal1 "And why the Bible and not the Koran or Vedas?"
The Qu'ran is a recital by Muhammad, recorded some 600 years after Jesus came to earth, and is based on the Jewish Scriptures/Old Testament of the Bible.
The Old Testament has recorded history back to the beginning of creation. The books of the Old Testament prophesied Jesus coming, and the events that were to take place long before they happened, and those prophesies were fulfilled.
@kartune85 Who told me the Universe is a self-desinging process? No one. It's just common sense. Natural laws operate independent of a interventionist god. There's just no room for god when one takes natural laws seriously. Does God make the sun shine and the earth rotate? No; the laws of nature do. Peace.
@MassLiberal1 "Who told me the Universe is a self-desinging process? No one. It's just common sense."
I don't believe it is "common sense" in any sense of the term. Not only is there no evidence to support this idea, but you're implying that the universe HAS been designed, just by a non-intelligent entity... that is not a rational concept.
Also, the "common sense" of people throughout the millenia has told them that there is an intelligent designer behind the design of the universe.

The problem with religion is that people are not willing to accept anything about it as untrue. But scientific truth can be amended, so it progresses. Science is an unending search for truths, while religion has anterior established truths. But no worries, it is only a matter of time before science overwhelms religion and people can no longer justify extraordinary beliefs.

i. q. has very little to do with being a young earth creationist. because when u believe something, despite there being evidence to the contrary, u've stopped thinking. and when u've stopped thinking, it really doesn't matter how well u can otherwise think, it's just no good.

The history of religion with an overall outside perspective can be educational, since it is part of culture. What I am by no means implying, is the biased historical and literal account within each religion as truth. In an educational context, it would be wise to refrain as much bias as possible: such as exposing the many evils of religion, but also to teach that the positive effects of religion can stem from other sources that aren't detrimental to critical and logical thinking.
jmlew 6 months ago
@jmlew well said :)
bevz2nikki 6 months ago
@jmlew We both can agree that religion has some positive benefits. But if any doctrine of a particular religion cannot logically be taken as literal truth, then what means do you have of defining truth without special pleading? I believe one must take their entire religion as absolute truth or else they are just picking and choosing what they want to believe. Which is not truth... This is my problem with religion.

MassLiberal1 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "Everything" is a bit of a stretch, but you might find it interesting that evolution (naturalism) is not the ONLY worldview in which everything (i.e. the universe) can be explained. The world as we know it, the scientific evidence, can also be explained using the notion that there is a designer behind the self-evident design of everything we see around us.
Why bring up naturalism for what we don't understand yet? It seems like a fear of the Creator to me.
kartune85 1 year ago
@kartune85 Science damn well should be biased towards materialism/naturalism. Science is the study of nature, not the supernatural. As our knowledge as expanded, the gaps where used to place the supernatural have grown smaller and smaller. What room then for a desinger? I fear no creator b/c I seek to understand the cosmos as it was created. A good god would prefer that to the uneducated masses invoking ancient scriptures and superstitions. Peace.
MassLiberal1 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "Science damn well should be biased towards materialism/naturalism. Science is the study of nature, not the supernatural."
I believe you are quite right in saying that science "is the study of nature, not the supernatural", although I would point out that scientific evidence, when used as evidence for how the universe, and all things within the universe, came to be, is interpreted/explained using different worldviews or axioms.
kartune85 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "As our knowledge as expanded, the gaps where used to place the supernatural have grown smaller and smaller. What room then for a desinger?"
The idea that God is diminishing more and more as science explains different laws of nature is absurd when you consider that these laws are so complex and integrated that it's not reasonable or rational to believe that they came about by chance rather than being set in motion at the beginning by the omnipotent Creator God.
kartune85 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "I fear no creator b/c I seek to understand the cosmos as it was created. A good god would prefer that to the uneducated masses invoking ancient scriptures and superstitions."
Now you're branching into theology? It just so happens that God has revealed what he prefers THROUGH ancient scriptures (i.e. the Old and New Testament) and through sending his Son, and he certainly doesn't command us to refrain from understanding how He created the cosmos.
kartune85 1 year ago

In which way do these revelations diminish the One who created it in the first place?
kartune85 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "No deity worth venerating would reveal itself just through ancient scriptures to people who thought the earth flat and at the center of the universe."
Firstly, He not only revealed Himself through the Bible, but also through His creation.
Secondly, if you look into the Galileo story, you'll find that Galileo believed in God and the controversy was not science vs religion, but against the long held view of Aristotelian science vs Copernican science.
kartune85 1 year ago

MassLiberal1 1 year ago
@MassLiberal1 "Even most Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, liberal Protestant) accept the evolutionary understanding of life."
This may be true, but that doesn't make it right. The Bible clearly states how life began, how much time creation took, and the order of events, and if these "Christians" want to deny what the Bible clearly teaches, then maybe they should question what they're basing their faith on.

So my answer would be that Biblical Christians who believe in Jesus as their Saviour and live according to His Will are more "Christian".
kartune85 1 year ago

The chronological timeline of the Bible indicates that the universe is only several thousand years old.
kartune85 1 year ago

I don't dispute sciences which involve testing, observing, verifying things we see here in this universe, but I do oppose interpreting these observations using a false presupposition.
kartune85 1 year ago

@kartune85 Obviously there's no scientific fact that can convince you of evolution. Oh well, ignorance is bliss. Peace.

Wonderful
Albinnaab 1 year ago
@Albinnaab That depends on what type of "change" you're referring to.
It is true we see change in organisms that involve mutations, loss of genetic info, etc., but this evidence doesn't suggest that chemicals have the capability of developing NEW information.
The evolutionary idea that organisms evolved from non-living matter, and humans subsequently evolved from apes or similar is unproven and unsupported by scientific evidence.
Natural Selection could only work if the info was already present.
kartune85 1 year ago
@kartune85 The evolutionary idea that organisms evolved from non-living matter? Go read a book, science book not christian misunderstanding of scicence. The idea that non-life created life is called abiogenesis, it's a hyopthesis among many. Evolution is a fact and a theory. Homo habillis, homo erectus, neandethals are fossils that shows the gradual evolution to homo sapiens. Dating methods shows the age of these and the earth. Dna similarity is 98% between chimps and humans, give me a break...

@MassLiberal1 "Do you believe in dinosaurs?"

Jesus is God, Creator and Saviour.

@MassLiberal1 "Nature herself is a self-desinging process."
Is it? Who told you that? And where is the proof of this? Is there scientific evidence that any non-intelligent entity is capable of design?
kartune85 1 year ago
