That's why I just have my pager on vibrate. As soon as it goes off I'm usually out the door before the actual call comes through the speaker so I don't have to worry about the looks like that haha.
@VolunteerFireEMS Lucky, my FD get's maybe 50-60 calls a year if we're lucky, mostly in the summer. When I'm in school we get a call maybe once every week and a half to two weeks.
In High School I took my pager everyday went off a few times teachers didnt care. I would go and turn it off and they would get mad cause they wanted to know what was goin on. lol

Oh dang this in georgia I live in Jeff Davis county in Southeast Ga I saw the Georgia EMS patch but I remember I was siting in my 2nd block class and a vollunteer fire fighter was toned out.
their isnt ANY volunteer stuff in cobb, believe me, ive looked EVERYWHERE, cobb has private EMS(Puckett, which you have to be an EMT- I and be 21 to work with them) your only real option is out of county or work for the Cobb's FD

i've had that happen to me several times and other people in my department our pagers get set off by one of the ambulance squads in the county cause our tone frequencies are so close

I was at my Senior Award ceremony when I thought I had put my Minitor 3 on Vibe turns out I didnt so Of course I goes off Im jump up grab my awards and hauled ass out the door only to find the page was for a training meeting that night! I felt like a idiot afterward What made it worse was I had it on vibe but it switched over to tone on me by mistake!!

I was sitting in my college one class when my minator 5 went off... it was on alert so everyone herd the beeps, it was for a structure fire that we ended up being put back in servie for... but i got credit for the entire day of class that i missed, i guess it really helped that my instructors husband is a voulenteer... lol
haha i was in history and i forgot my minitor was on the vibrate mode and it vibrated so loud and i had it turned all the way up and to make it worse it started beeping right after...
haha Oh do I know the feeling of this. I'm on UVM Rescue and we are a regular 911 ambulance for the burlington area like you guys. One of the best was one shift getting toned out of the bottom floor of our student center to a code and they had to run up 4 flights of stairs to get to the truck. fun time
This is in Emory University...I was a sophomore back then, sitting in a neuroscience review session while on call for Emory EMS. It was a pretty silly call, they wanted us to investigate a reported fire outdoors, and we were in the immediate vicinity.

3's don't have a Vibrate mode. "B" on a 3 switches over to F1. only 4's and 5's have a vibrate mode.
