The junction with I-26 on the end of the French Broad river crossing is a serious b***h in the opposite direction. As is the downtown corridor during rush hour.
i just love american freeways. Canadian infrastructure standards pale in comparison, except for maybe the toronto metropolitain area, which i don't live in
again try not to film this asheville area its not worth your time people in this town are rude and have serious issues i found this out when i visted a couple of months ago people give you dirty and mean looks when you walk by.Your best bet would be to eithier film one going threw the great smoky mountains in gatlinburg or in pigeon forge these are some nice areas and people in gatlinburg and pigeon forge are alot more friendly and its a very nicer area than asheville.
nothing to defend you freeway jim i love all your other videos but i hate asheville asheville is a sorry low down piece of shit town try not to film this dirty shity crappy area again asheville is not worth your time filming or driving threw try to stay away from this area people in this town are rude and have serious issues.
2:55. I love living in Asheville. the views are just too great even when just driving across town! it went by too fast but west view from the Montford Ave area is bootiful too!
Hey, I remember going through I-240 on my Asheville trip 3 years ago - and we did so to go to St. Larry's Basilica (Gosh, developers, keep away from the area close by so we can see it!) for the noontime Mass and our hotel.
I've noticed in the Hog Alert portions of the videos that the driver you're always behind is using his or her cell phone while driving. To me that's really dangerous, They're slowing up traffic right there!
Thanks for being one of the few to recognize the Blue Ridge Parkway overpass over I-40 in your clip. I turned on 240 in summer 1997 and didn't get to see the last 50 miles or so of I-40 in North Carolina because of a rock slide at the state line.
Good question...I started with Idea of making them for my own personal memories (I like roads & bridges) then I shared a few with friends and found out that other people liked them so I started to make more.
I also enjoy the editing & production aspect of it and it's good content to work with.
Liked the tour of Asheville's freeway system. Loved the fact you used a Counting Crows song, as I've always been a big fan of them! Angels of the Silences is also one of my favorite CC songs.
Great video of Asheville, Jim. It's great for two reasons. 1. is the great scenery throughout and 2. is having actual good music on a video. Keep up the work. Are you going to film I-40 through the Smokies into Tennessee?
yeah Aaron's right. the route is complete, partially. There will be a connector built, soon. the section where I-240, I-26 and US routes meet, as well as a river crossing, will be changed dramatically.
I never knew they finished widening I-40 just west of the I-26 change.. looks MUCH better.
Chris, I-26 currently runs from Kingsport, Tennessee to Charleston, South Carolina. The former western/northern terminus was in Asheville, North Carolina, but the route has recently been extended to Kingsport. The North Carolina Department of Transportation apparently forgot to remove some of the "Future I-26" shields.
i live in asheville

Have you ever considered filming I-26 from Johnson City to Asheville. I drove it today and it was incredible.
19crash84 3 months ago
@19crash84 Yes, it was dark the last time I came through that route but it is something I would definitely love to film next chance I get.

I'm becoming addicted to these...
It's funny to watch vids of routes I've taken dozens of times before - it's a lot more fun, though, when it looks like you're going 120mph :-)

That is the case more often than not, however in this video it was simply a stubborn middle aged woman who refused to move.

You shouldn't be using your phone while driving, you need to keep your focus on the driving.
wimpie25 2 years ago
I don't use my phone while driving, pus I have Bluetooth hands-free if need be.
Freewayjim 2 years ago
They're planning on banning all sorts of phone usage in cars over here. Even handsfree. The government already launched a campain for that.

Thanks,
I'm not sure what to make of #2 though, I think all the music I use is good and fits the visuals.
Yes I filmed I-40 through the Pigeon River Gorge in to TN, 20 miles of twists & turns, I'll probably start working on it tonight in fact.

It's an even number so it's labeled east-west, although technically it does go north.
