I am searching for and hoping some of you will be able to post, along with more Dan, some vid of venerable weathercasters Boyce Hawkins and rhyming weatherman Bill Williams, who was also news director until the mid-70s. Williams doubled-timed as bureau chief for Billboard Magazine, a post he opened for Nashville in 1969. He died suddenly at his desk there at age 51 around 1974. Williams composed about 900 words of rhyming weathercast each day. Hawkins was the weeknight weatherman.
I kinda had a hunch. I knew that Oprah has (or had) family in Nashville, and that she started her tv career @WTVF under then-news director/anchor Chris Clark
Something else I noticed ... when Dan was reading, he always had a pen in his hand. That was something he did the whole time I remember watching him; he would pick it up in his hands at the start of the newscast, and then he would cap it, put it down, and end. Looking back on this, the beginning of the long "Dan and Demetria" partnership, it really sinks in how awesome it really was that they were together anchoring the news as long as they were; truly the best team in Nashville, bar none!
Wow, now THIS is a very welcome blast from the past! It's good to remember though. Back then, Dan had been the anchor since 1973 or so, so all the co-anchors were sidekicks; it was great to see how their relationship developed over the years. But I miss how they did the cast shots at the end of the newscast, and "Let the Children Play" was the best closing music I think I've ever seen for a newscast.
Demetria was more of a side-kick to Dan in these days, not so much a co-anchor. Dan tossed to sports and weather both. She was not even in the screen shot.
Does anyone have Demetria's tribute on YouTube? I used to watch both of them on WSMV, but I haven't lived there in years, and I just found out today about Dan's passing last month.
This is a southern girl here....grew up with Dan Miller and loved to watch him with Demetria Kalodimos..
living out west these days and had not heard the death until
noted it on my computer-local news, I still try and stay connected to Nashville--I was so shocked--I've been so sad
and was brought to tears -especially when I saw Demetria's tribute to Dan (the big brother she never had) There chemistry was news worthy.. Elbow bump ;) Thank you Dan and Demetria--bless Dan's family. RIP x
RIP Bill Hall!!!!

The young female consumer Dan is talking to is Oprah Winfrey's cousin, Carla Winfrey. Seriously.

@MegaObserver1 Karla* I've worked with her for some commercials as a PA. Weird actually seeing her on tv. She's a producer now!
