The submissions and knees were both legal. The rules where no kicks and no groundwork. A standing choke is not groundwork and using your knees are not kicking. A kick is a strike with your foot or any part of the shin.

Kimbo got the shit beat out of him fair and square.

The standing choke was fine, but knees are not legal in bareknuckle boxing, nor is using any part of your legs period. Judging by faces I'd say Gannon got the shit beat out of him, not the other way around.

Kimbo couldn't continue due to lack of conditioning, not damage. Gannon is in better shape, he actually trains. Kimbo couldn't even lift his arms anymore after awhile.
