@hackingtime88 You're incorrect. Its happening all over california. I'm developing an electric car myself and there are waiting lists. In ten years the majority of cars will be electric. It is expected in less than 5 years battery tech will allow for 300-500 mile range with 30 minute charging times or less. Think Positive !!!
Being a 4-wheeled vehicle it would be subject to US safety specs. Even IF a new version were undergoing evaluation we'd be looking at 3-5 years before they'd have a car on sale. During this time the company will go bust/declare the project unrealistic and abandon it/get bought out.
It's nice to dream, but the likelihood of this actually happening is close to zero.
That's not what the owner of the company has said. The VLC project exists to test the tech, not to build a car for us to buy. Don't believe me, but let's talk again in 5 years. If this car is on sale I'll gladly retract my statements.
I'm really sorry to sound like a cynic, but the X-prize was a giant anticlimax. And I followed it pretty closely. I hope I'm wrong in my pessimism, but EVs have been "just around the corner" for 20 years.
@AshtonPhoto Thats what I heard too and if really pisses me off that a team would get together, build a safe high mileage car just for a 'proof of concept' IE: They did it only for the money.
do want, but the greedy gas companies wont let this happen. Selling my BP shares

The VLC is not going to be put into production. It's a 'proof of concept' only.
