@MrsExactly forgive me but that's hardly a blooper, the national grid was developed in the 1930's and most of the power lines and pylons we see romping across the countryside today began to go up in great numbers at this time. This novel is set in the 1950's so it would be perfectly possible to see power lines then.
I've never seen this nor have I read the book and I knew poor Ms. Murgatroid was going to die when she allowed her to leave without revealing who wasn't there.....
I love this couple, they're really great, especially Hinchcliff. Wonderful acting. One really believes that she "loves pigs!" Walking around in the pigsty in rain in big boots and enjoying farm life.
"She" wasn´t there... or she wasn´t "there"?... Maybe the last one, what you think? :P
And yes, the video has the voice factor, if I may say... So, the book have some lines from the murder but if they appear in the video it would give some clue about the genre of the murder (or even her/his entire identity)... Sorry my english.
Of all the Miss Marples novels I know this film is the most faithful. Even most of the dialogue sentences are real quotes from the book.
It is true that Miss Murgatroyd's death is more dramatic in the novel. On the other hand, the murderer said a few words to her before strangling her. In the film, that is impossible as it would give the murder away.
@XBGJDKE The camera gives you the clue: When Hinch eggs Murgatroid on to try and find out who wasn't there, you see the camera surreptitiously creeping up to the kitchen window and peeping through it - that's supposed to be the murderer looking through the window and discovering what they're doing. It's complete coincidence, like Burramale said.

XBGJDKE 3 years ago 3
it was coincidence. the murderer came across and listened/saw that hinchcliffe and murgatroyd were talking about the murder!

Oh no! Poor Mergatroid. How sad. Why didn't the dog do anything? Maybe it was in the house.

3:00 -- Ms. Hinchcliff sings "I Got the Sun in the Morning" from the musical "Annie Get Your Gun" (1946).
