  • Wait! Stop the song!....here Karen, eat a hamburger or something! (and I'm a vegetarian.)

  • que voz é essa! isso sim foi musica de verdade não a porcaria do Michel teló!

  • @schayanneap :O Não fala o nome dele aqui, é uma heresia, coitada da Karen! hahaha

  • Cudownie!

  • DO FUNDO DA CANECA!! RSRSR

  • Karen looks fragile and seems to be suffering on advance stage of Anorexia. She usually performed live but in this video it’s obviously Lip sync, the voice is magnificent and will last for generations... Although there are many female singers sounded like Karen, the legacy of her songs and the loved for her what motivates them to mimic their favorite artist... RIP Karen Carpenter

  • I love Karen, but it's so sad to see her like this. She was only 32 but the anorexia caused her to look much older. Regardless, her beautiful voice remained the same throughout her life. Karen's passing was a huge loss. She was one of a kind and is greatly missed. She will never be replaced or forgotten.

  • Do I laugh with the joy or cry at the loss ? Whatever, Karen, you have me - in my gut and throat and heart - I gave that old heart to you years and years ago...when I fell in love with you. Always, KC, and ever...........shine on and sing on, and I'll keep on missing you and loving you and wishing you were here with us. God, I hope Richard C. comes to youtube sometimes and sees how we all love her still.

  • I regret that I never saw her in person- THE best Alto voice theat we will ever have! So sad to have lost her so early! GREAT talent lost!!

  • I do not know the exact words to describe Karen and her brother but extraordinary, breathless..I have just about everything they ever made, and her alone. Heaven gained an angel, and we have her and their music to live on with..thank you for posting...

  • Too bads, another dubbed video, would have been nice to hear the real voice to this video....sucks...2 stars

  • TRUE TALENT! Thanks for poating.

    Rory1127

  • announcements in Heaven are made by Karen Carpenter.

  • I'd sell my soul to hear her voice in live. She was amazing

  • Karen : I wanna go to heaven to see you for eternity .

  • @Luisveram Im liable to get there first, ill give her a smooch for you

  • UNforgetable !!

  • Amazing.....really AMAZING....it will be forever!!!1

  • where is Richard ?

  • @Inmac87

This is Karen's moment =) I <3 this. What ever happened to Neil Diamond, the Lennon Sisters, the Osmond brothers and the Carpenters? We need these songs because Justin Whatshisname and Rebecca B-word don't know ANYTHING about MUSIC!! My favorite period in life is when I knew nothing about them!

  • Such a beautiful, pure, unique voice from such a multi-talented lady. One of my all-time favorite songs, too. TY for the wonderful post. :)

  • A voice so pure and wonderful in tone

  • yesterday once more

  • Because much of this music. for the past.

  • All I can is thank you for YouTube because it makes me feel like she is still with us and spreading her beautiful sound to us all. There will never be another Karen Carpenter because she was truly one of a kind!!! Her music will live on forever!

  • Never knew she covered this. Gorgeous version. Karen, I miss you every day!

  • your forever love didn't last long. you left us forever but i still love you 'till i die.

  • she is so skinny here. It makes me sad to see that.

  • a little fantasy doesn't hurt :D

  • your songs will live forever...

you have the voice that will never fade..

    karen carpenter your the best!!

  • It's so sad. She seems to have been surrounded by yes men, including her brother, similar to Michael Jackson. What a sad tragedy and waste. She should still be alive today. She needed love, not yes men. Love sometimes tells you no because that is what you need. Love gives you what you need, not want you want.

  • payat na siya dito...pero ang ganda pa rin ng boses niya....GOD bles karen carpenter...

  • jaclyn victor..she sang it great too, in the finale of malaysian idol..shes awesome

  • We love you forever Karen.

  • @rebdoomer99 I agree with U, Karen will be the best forever! I really wish the Carpenters were still around!

  • @firewings12 I'm glad you like the Carpenters as well, and we get to enjoy them for generations to come.....:)

  • I'll readily give Karen her points but I would also consider Judith Durham of The Seekers credit for both the pipes and the durability that Karen never got the chance to demonstrate.

You also have to give big credit to Richard's arrangements and production. While not the "front" of the Carpenters, he sure was the brains. He introduced recording techniques that were ground breaking and a huge part of their sound.

Having said all that, Karen's voice will always haunt me.

  • Karen is in my opinion, the greatest female singer of all time. What a voice.

  • Very good but this song belongs to nat king cole

  • "my first love will be my last" .. such pure, uncontaminated emotions depicted beautifully - nowadays, let alone human intention being genuine, human emotion has completely lost trace of fidelity! globalisation and technology is polluting the human soul big time and no one's even aware of it!! Sad to say that we are all victims in this current life.

  • It was her voice that PUT her on the map, so to speak. She was a good drummer but it is AND always will be singing that she will be remembered for, in the world of music!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful. So pure.

  • We´ll see her singing in heaven!

  • may i pleasantly remind everyone she was also a superb drummer, lets not forget her other many talents (:

  • oh i forgot engelbert humberdick, gwen stefani, also have raved about her voice, i'm trying to remember any other singers in the past 20,30,40 years who have said that karen was the best female vocalist they ever heard.

  • @mbblover Dianne Warwick.

  • paul mccartney, john lennon, justin hayward of the moody blues, shania twain, madonna, the list goes on and on of fellow singers/superstars who universally have gone on record saying karen carpenter had the most beautiful voice, was the best singer, etcetera.

  • karen and nat the 2 most beautiful moving voices of the 20th century bar none!

  • i think there will be no voice like this ever

  • There has been and still are some great female singers BUT no one will ever possess a voice like Karen Carpenter!! God only gave us one!!!

  • karen nat would be so proud of this rendition with ur angel voice

  • those ten are deaftones.........

  • Karen, amore mio nell'anima R.I.P. :(

  • OMG Youtube wouldnt play right earlier, imagine if I had to go ALL DAY without Karen? Fate worse than death!

    Shes the greatest, truly :)

  • effortless and perfect wow

  • i love my baby more than ever

  • Karen sings like a woman who despite great riches and fame really only wanted one thing: true love.

  • Monumental talent, ive already played it 6 or more times and still not tired of listening.

  • she looks different with short hair!

  • awwww 9 people have gotten their hearts broken :(

  • Karen Carpenter is still alive and well for she is in heaven already and all she did is left her own body here on earth. But from her songs her voice can still fall down on earth to us who are still here on earth and God with all his blessings is also present on her songs, so to me, she is still alive and well and still with us in heart, spirit, & soul for the soul never dies for it lives on forever as Karen Carpenter's songs will keep on inspiring others to show and share love with each other.

  • i think what's worse is that she tried to get better but it was too late :(

  • @emoisnthatcool your statement is correct and proof that life is not fair;...this woman had a voice that could make the entire world smile except herself, thats not fair is it???

  • It feels like god just teased us by giving us the sound of her voice for a moment and then taking it away forever.

  • @alienmind2005 what happened to her?

  • @alienmind2005 Not forever, Im currently badgering Him to allow her to be resurrected someday and perhaps perform for us all who miss her!

  • @alienmind2005 not forever we all shall here that voice of an angel again one day

  • Fantastica interpretazione!!!

    Grazie :o)

  • Yes a talent that was lost so early

  • Love the song, and never heard it sung better. She left this world too soon.

  • God she was so sweet....we really lost a good one here...

  • @jeanniechip what would of been a lost is that we would of never got to listen to her. RIP

  • I can't help saying a thank you to Karen for sharing her voice with us. She left beautiful melodies that I really enjoy. Peace.

  • I love the Carpenter's music; so sweet, harmonic & melodic.

  • Yeap first stages of anorexia, eat girls, eat all you want, life's only once.

  • Incredible talent and voice!!!!!!

  • taken too soon. What a pitty. She was awesome

  • All the negs are negative to what it is and to us all it's ever been. Art and harmony =)

  • i super love this song...huhhhhaiii...

  • O que é isso ? Que voz !!! Estou maravilhado! Como é bom sentir isso que estou sentindo...

  • Si supieran los que se fueron, como Karen Carpenters, la inmensa emocion que inspiran en la gente... ♫

  • Yes beautiful voice but she is already looking old and was only in her 30's. So sad she was unhappy. What a loss for us all.

  • What voice and what she do a song.

  • Life misses you karen!

  • Dad had moved us from Aggieland (Bryan/College Station) the summer before my senior year in high school '82/'83 to remote, small-town Trinity, TX. The particular day was one of academic awards, but I'll never forget how the news affected those people. I finally got home, locked myself in my room and just listened.

  • it makes me wanna cry...what happen to her? why did she die so early?

  • @bisayakongdako she suffered from a then-not well-known illness called anorexia nervosa, a degenerative disease that makes the person feel overweight, and the only control one has is over their body-she literally starved herself by eating and then vomiting...but mercifully not destroying her gift, her voice. she was tormented personally, she attempted to marry, but sadly that didn't last. She died in '83 after attempts to cure herself, but the damage was done, and she died of a heart attack.

  • mt fav tune. Thank you.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG IT REALLY HITS HOME WITH ME ITS THE STORY OF MY LIFE.

  • She looks so pretty here. The Gibson Girl was a great look for her. Miss that voice so much.

  • Perfection... as good as Doris Day's version.

  • MIss you dear Karen!

  • I'm old enough to have had her voice as part of my formulative years in music - but I do not remember seeing this video clip - or of hearing this version of this beautiful song. Like babyEroose - you melt and cry all at the same time. Her voice just covered every base - she was your mother, your sister, your lover, your best friend - the appropriate string was tugged! Long gone now - but not forgotten.

  • Karen Carpenter is among the best female vocalists the world has ever enjoyed. Gone from our midst, but never from our hearts!

  • when I fall in love it will be completely or I'll never give my heart :)

  • just look into her eyes, makes me cry

  • When listening to her voice, often says to myself, You can't do that! It is inhuman, musiaclly not possible! Some of the passages that she sings are absoluty out of this world. Pure art that takes me away to some incredible blissful emotional deluge.

  • I was only 13 when she died, I loved her voice and have often missed it. As an adult I can see how thin she was, I wonder why no one interceded on her behalf, think of the music we have beeen denied. Her voice is still riveting, she always gave everything sshe had to the music.

  • @MsChemicalEngineer Her family did interceded... she was in a clinic, but what i know is that... cuz the ilness wasnt common doctors thought that what she needed was food, she dies because she spend 18 years if im not wrong with ver few food in her organism and then in few months she gained so much weight because that was the treatment and she died of heart attack.... ironic.... i know tht the answer wasnt still not eating but... is ironic... (sorry for my english...)

  • Karen looks bad in here but here talent is still GREAT... She is for me the BEST singer that had ever lived :)

  • WoW When i listen to this song i can actually picture myself in ecstatic love walking with my lover in the sunshine amongst the trees...

i hope it will someday happen :(

  • this is for the only one i will ever love-rickie

  • ..hello im 16 years..but i do love carpenters..how i wish they will reborn again...ahe..

  • my father likes Nat King Cole and for him his version is better than this one but then I can say that this one is better... I think the song is better portrayed by this wonderful woman, Karen, since the lyrics seems to be made for young women who wants true love :)

  • Anorexia and bulimia at the same time, believe it or not.

  • Nice song........

  • A LEGEND THAT WILL LONG LIVE ON. WHAT A VOICE SHE HAD, SO UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND. THANKS FOR POSTING AND SHARING!!!

  • you can never get this type of lyrics nowdays...what a great song

  • Karen Carpenter had the most intense and beautiful voice I have ever heard!

  • what an angel she was! will always love her

  • beautiful !!! takes you back to a time long forgotton

  • Aw Karen only if you were alive today!! but u are.. every time we hear your voice you come alive in our hearts

  • She IS so beautiful! Her heart is broken. Anorexia nervosa? Which came first?

  • by god shes so thin in this video but shes so beautiful RIP

  • you can really see that shes already very thin.

  • Those eyes! She adores the listener!

  • I love you Karen!

  • beautiful..

  • omg I love her. I find it so sad though. I would like it if Karen was still around ;)

  • A voice from THE ANGELS, Perfect tone and control....everything is just Beautiful....her eyes tell you she is hurting inside....she was able to go on for some time....God Took her so she could lead the choirs of Heaven, singing to him.....She was so gifted....God Loved you so and stopped the pain....So much was lost when she passed away....Thank goodness for the awareness of this horrible illness.. .We haven't heard a voice like this since ....HTH in Whg, WV

  • She gets skinnier and skinnier as I watch more videos. She will always be remebered. Her voice is absoloutely amazing.

  • It's the voice of those beautiful eyes!

  • Isn't this the best proof that words, image, music, and voice go together? I'm glued to every detail. I can't hold back the tears.

  • @whitehousetexas just how I feel.

  • dear Karen, seeing you and hearing you sing ....... you just blown me away...

  • she defined an era...

  • Anyone in here knows the year of this video of karen Carpenter?

  • @Freptboy i belive this video is from the year 1980.

  • It's that Christmas sound! I listen to the Christmas stuff in June.

  • The most beautiful voice ever.

  • @andreigurgel absolutely right.

  • Good memories, what a Voice!!! Our weddingsong, blessed her in heaven.

  • Just thinking about how she died just makes me mad. Its Hollywoods fault, Giving her a complex about her wait back in the early 70's when they called fat. And shes never been the same since.

  • An Angel placed on this earth, to share her magical voice with us, and to make some type of mark or difference in each of us, then returning to heaven....

  • She was so beautiful. What a loss. What a legacy of gorgeous music she left us. Thank U Karen, and thank U ryanche33 for sharing this. Thank you.

  • this may sound trite, but i believe that karen had some type of mozartean genius, vocally. some of the tunes were first take, some while she was drumming. and like most genius, she could not live in this world--perhaps some type of perfection that crossed from her singing to her self-image was to blame, but so is a world that fetishizes thinness esp. for superstars like karen. tragic.

  • I never knew she had sung this song, and I never thought she could sing it so brilliantly.

  • I was in Capetown S.Africa when I first heard this, but by Nat King Cole early 60's. This is the first time I have heard this redition by Karen Capenter, wonderful, Bless her.

  • SHE IS CLEARLY LIP SYNCING
