In 2008 and 2009, Warner Bros. was in the process of creating a CGI animated film based on ThunderCats. It was rumoured to be an original story expanding on the events of the first episode. Concept artwork was released in July 2009 of the main character Lion-O and three locations. A two minute test scene was filmed and presented to Warner Brothers, however the movie has been shelved perhaps due to the critical and commercial failure of the movie Speed Racer, another Warner Brothers CGI project.
thunder cats was awesome . I even named one of my Guildwars characters Panthro because i love the show so much.
As far as the names go it wouldn't be thundercats if they were named tom dick and harry. Besides Mum-Ra the Ever-living was probably the most creative of the names when you take into account Ra was an ancient Egyptian sun god
Larry Kenney and Lynne Lipton, the ones who provided the original voices for these role models, didn't do the ThunderCats any justice by corrupting them on a trash cartoon like Family Guy. Just my opinion.
its animation is really impressive in its time... its animation production was made by Pacific Animation Corporation, the same studio that did most of season 1 episodes of jonny quest the real adventures...
you mentioned that you know all their names by heart and yet you thought that it needed creativity, but thats the point they wanted a simple name that would stick to your mind. i think they did a good job.
