It would be interesting to see which causes more damage to people's lives. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult to measure such things, and will probably never happen.

@aarontsmall1975 Your arguments are highly dependent on personal and cultural variables. However, I tend to agree with you for emotional reasons rather than rational reasons. Yet being a stockholder I hate to see alcohol and tobacco denigrated to make other drugs look better. It's no secret that most Americans are hypocrites, but I personally despise the old argument that "___ is way worse and it's legal." All drugs have effects and consequences -- some are more socially accepted than others.

@mexicandonkeyshow No, it is clinically proven that addiction to tobacco and alcohol cause physical addiction in addition to psychological addiction, whereas "meth" in particular causes psychological addiction only. As to the damage quotient, both alcohol and tobacco cause illness and death on a scale that dwarfes that of the illegal drugs. Even the psychological consequences of alcoholism themselves would defeat direct comparison with that of drug addiction in terms of scale.

his books are flawed hes not a great chemist. the recipes he publises are incomplete. inacurete and in some cases explosive if you want to make meth first get a degree in chemestry. he does give the bones of how to make it you just need to find his mistakes before you kill yourself trying to do one

I'd be impressed if they actually made the nerve agent themselves, and didn't buy it from somewhere, as they made a gigantic mistake in their attack using it which wouldn't have been made by someone who was able to make it in the first place; vastly reducing the number of injuries, thankfully.

True. I agree with you, but...The almost inevitable environment that surrounds it, and its users, makes it an all in, or all out kind of thing. You're either ALL IN, doing it every day, or ALL OUT, clean and sober. I recently got away from the scene, only then was I able to get clean. People who use it every day are living with something over which they have no control -- by the time people get to that stage of the addiction they are no longer capable of making choices that do not include buying, selling, or using drugs. It makes them slaves rather than idiots, just as cancer patients are dependent on chemotherapy to live. My sister had cancer, and by the time the disease had progressed she had no control over what it did.
