This is quite interesting. I'm sure there's a way that these powerups can be put alongside the standard ones (perhaps even have them inside the respective switchblocks). It's just simply a matter of when it happens.
If you don't mind my asking, what's a good source of information for power up hacking? I've been looking through the documentation @ smwcentral, a lot of it is decent but I feel many of the tutorials are lacking. I have a fairly good grasp of assembly (3 years w/ x86, 1 year with MIPs) and am just starting to look into SNES assembly.

These are actually good. Much better than some I've seen where the guy just takes one powerup, changes the sprite a bunch of times and tries to pass them off as "different powerups".
Are you gonna distribute these? They look awesome and Id definitely love to use them in my hack. If not where can I download carols caps you mentioned.
I'm probably not going to distribute these freely. These were tailored to the needs of my hack specifically, so they replace the original power up system, which wouldn't make them very useful for normal hacks. I might release them to people who ask (knowing this), once I work out all the kinks.
And I'm not even sure of Carol is willing to give his caps to people. You'd have to ask him directly.
Oh Fuck - it's an invisible flying metal mario

So, are these powerups that are just added or do they replace old ones?
TheGag96 2 years ago
Due to the fact I built these off the previous powerups, these replace them.
jduke666 2 years ago 6
@jduke666 would it be possibale to add one instead of replacing like a sprite?

I could see these being awesome in level design... don't grab the metal cap if you're underwater and there's no floor!

This game hack should be called SMW64!

Nice job, I feel the Wing Cap should need a small running start, but otherwise awesome.
Demonfox121 3 years ago
But then it would be just like a cape. The power ups need to be different then the already existing ones.

Most of it looks LDA/STA, but you did a really good job! I'm not complaining.
