I was watching The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, saw Tom Waits there, then started listening his albums, then, when "jockey full of bourbon" came, i thought of this song. Seems like my life is just some long series of free association.
@bigrig321 Define anywhere. Are we talking like in a house? Or in the dark? Or with a mouse? Up a tree? Or in a boat? Or in the rain? Or with a goat? :P
A lot of people bring up the fact that this sounds like a Tom Waits song (which it does, mind) but it's more reminiscent of Marc Ribot's style of playing the guitar--whoever composed this plays in a very similar style to Ribot (whose solo stuff is just as fantastic as what he collaborated with Waits on).
I've just listened to the theme song and Jockey Full Of Bourbon back to back. They've definitely ripped it off big time. Given Tom Waits history of suing people it's quite a brave move.

Black Books is wonderful series. Our Russian stupid sitcoms are boing and predictable. But this is beatiful. Greetings from Russia!

Such a perfect theme for capturing the grungy, dingy, smoke-filled world of the acerbic Bernard Black... only problem is, it's too short...

@justatailor actually, marc ribot, played with tom waits on rain dogs, frank's wild years, and big time. truly a great guitarist.
