I met Gene in 1978 at Green Oaks Motel when Kiss was staying there for their 2 concerts at TCCC in Ft Worth, TX. This, obviously, was before they took off their make up and Gene was laying by the pool reading a newspaper and my friend and I walked up and said "hi". He just looked at us with this pissed off look and then Bill Aucoin came up and told us to leave. About an hour later all 4 of them came out to get in the limos to go to soundcheck and I got his autograph. I eventually lost it! Bummer

Most of the ones that do get there music out there end up moving to the U.S. because there is 530+ million people there compared to 30+ million in Canada, a bigger market to sell to. They were fun, and made some catchy songs, but put them next to other bands of their era, like Zep and even Fleetwood Mac, and their catalogue just doesn't hold up. Sure, Kish are just milking it, have always milked it. Gene Simmons has banged lots of girls, and their costumes look (kinda) cool, but Kiss make totally crap music... I downloaded a bunch of their songs last month, and I was like 'why the fuck would anyone wanna listen to this??!'

Most American bands are shit. Nirvana, RHCP and to a lesser extent Korn, have been the only decent US bands of the past 18 years or whatever it's been.

The music industry is dead because it's managing execs couldn't adapt. Sure the music industry is more or less wiped out, but hey, music is alive and well, and getting better. Kiss, like Nickelback, like Metallica, etc., like to perform music and they like to make money. At some point in your lives, you're going to want to maximize profit potential. And hey, bands neeed an experienced drill sargent, thems the facts.
