I'm not a pilot, but with that short of runway it seemed to me that several of these landing planes touched down somewhat late. I'd think they would be tryin to TD right there at the numbers. I know these guys are pro's and i'm just a spectator.
@RottyFan1 wikipedia states: "Aircraft arriving from the east do not land at the end of the runway as at most airports, but land at what is called a displaced threshold, located 1,810 feet (550 m) from the runway end, effectively shortening the landing distance to 7,591 feet (2,314 m)"
@BellVideo Where can you get this permit from? I live in az and going to go down to San diego soon can i obtain it out of state or does it have to be in state?
When I lived in San Diego in the late 1970's I often would go down by Lindbergh Field to watch the planes come in and yes, they do come very low!
I also remember when I was attending US Navy Basic training at NTC in San Diego in the Summer of 1971, one of the barracks that my bootcamp company was assigned to was located very close to the West end of the San Diego Lindburgh Field Airport runway and those jets would practically shake the building! Not pleasant while trying to sleep at night!
It is very interesting for me to run across this neat vid! I'm a big fan of Dr. Carol Williams, the world famous Concert Organist. This vid is shot by her husband Kerry Bell, a professional videographer. The parking garage at KSAN almost qualifies as a runway obstruction.
If any of u r so inclined, check 'Carol Williams' on YouTube. She plays many popular numbers, as well as the classics, and is accompanied by Kerry on the drums, in numbers that lend themselves to that!
