  • Gotta love the G5. I've had mine for a long time, even built a new system, but I still have it.

  • where did u buy ur stuff from?

  • your rig look ok

  • will the zalman work on am2+ ???? plz help

  • I believe I received an AMD bracket as well as an Intel bracket. Pretty sure Zalman have AMD specific coolers as well.

  • nice setup. please don't tell me you waste these awesome computer spec on wow tho :P

  • Is it a big difference between 2gigs of ram and 4 gigs?

  • yeh alot faster

  • Really?? Everyone says that its not gonna be a big difference... Well if you say so. Thank you.

  • Dont listen to bullshit like oohohohoh XP only takes 3 gbs The actual Operating System only takes 3gbs all that other memory can be used on games and other stuff

  • Ok, thank you. I got a windows vista 32-bit with 2 gigs of ram and im gonna upgrade to 4.

  • 32 bit will only get you to a max of 3.07 GB of RAM. If you want to use the full 4 GB you have to get 64bit.

The remaining 930 MB is reserved for other uses like your video card memory. (Hence getting 2x 896 MB like my friend did with his rig with a 32bit OS was useless since windows could only use 930 MB of it.. he had to buy 64bit OS for it to fully work)

  • With that 896MB I ment his 2 graphics cards ofcourse.. :)

  • Yup all said here is correct. It's generally the total amount of RAM subtracted by the amount of RAM you're graphics card has.

64 bit OS's are the go now considering they have come a long way.

When I built my system nearly 2 years ago you didn't want to TOUCH 64bit Vista because it was so new.

Btw I am now running 4 gigs of Ballistix Tracer RAM :)

  • Yeah that'S make a big difference ;)!

And if u have vista it's recommanded to have a 4gigs if u wanna play video games.

  • no not really but you don't have to have 4 gbz off ram but its prefferd to be sure u got enough depening on wat u do on ur pc 4GB's is more then sufficient

  • nice, this should do good in most games, try running sli

  • were did u buy parts

  • yea yea yea, but now lets talk price....how much did u spend>

  • sick rig... you should have gone with an antec 1200 or maybe a lian li pc-80 armor suit case but thats just my opinion...

also is that graphics card powerful enough to run the more high consumtion games on the higher reses???

  • Keeping in mind I built this computer over a year ago :) As for the graphics card, the 8800GTX is still a performer but there are many new cards that would run considerably better on higher resolutions.

  • hey mate i think you got your parts online or w/e if so where from?

  • WOOT..what a cool as name.. spelt Callum/ Calum/ calam. so on..lol u r mad as.. i got thermaltake armour jr and same cooler.. ur are madest kid i know.. CALLUM FTW...

  • aah well, who cares, no worries dude!

  • Aussies rock lol, nice computer.. almost looks like mine, i opted for the thermaltake armor+ though full tower ftw

  • how does that graphics card work on that motherboard if its a gddr3?

  • Nice case man and the motherboard is very good too nice choices :D

  • Pearth is the shit. I live there too, mate.

  • aah ollidolli u spelt perth wrong... lol

  • u have an australian voice bye the sounds of it is it true

  • Correct I am indeed Australian :)

  • I got a similar system:

MB: ASUS Striker II Extreme (nForce 790i Ultra SLI)

PSU: thermaltake toughpower 1250WRAM: corshair dominator Oc @ 1222Mhz from 1066GPU: 2x 9600 GT (still saving for the 9800 GX2's)CASE: Armor LCS eith the 25cm fan ion the sideHDD: 2x WD 32mb cache 1TB HDD in raid0

MONITOR: Samsung 245T 24 inch MONITORSpeakers: X-5500 logitechSound: X-FI Elite Pro:Optical: pioneer Bluray burner, pioneerDVDburnerkeyboard and mouse: logitech G15 and the G9

    I bought mine at MSY@plymton S.A

  • what part of oz u from?? im from sydney

  • Perth dude :)

  • You must be rich LOL. Do you really need that 850watter for your 8800gtx?

  • Baha I wish I was rich, I saved so damn long for my computer. No the 850 watt was a little overkill but I have plans not to upgrade for a while and also I wanna do sli at some stage.

  • why vista? running a gaming rig via vista will let u game at about 85% of what ur machine is capable of...crappy vista platform...if u switch to XP you'll notice a difference in gaming for sure, ive noticed about 20 to 30 frame boost in cod4 and crysis by switching XP -if u are one of those guys who is anxious about DX10 u can do a simple patch in XP to run the DX10 games in XP ,ive done that to crysis and it works just fine

  • Woops accidentally pressed remove instead of reply to your last comment, sorry.

Umm if you look at one of my newer videos you will see im on XP :) I was only on Vista for maybe 3 months? lol

  • yeah?, vista was crap wasn't it?.... =]

  • Yeah it was terrible, although it did have a lot of very handy features over XP. These however are too small to completely convert to Vista. I love my old open gl games and Vista wasn't doing any favors, neither are the new drivers out these days :(

  • i have the same things but my motherboard is the Evga nForce 680i sli :) the 8800GTX is a monster <3

  • will 750w work with what u got?

  • Yup plenty.

  • This Samsung Monitor is 226BW or 226CW?

  • 226BW

  • Fucking nice dude im Aussie too how much is it in AUD?

  • About 7 months ago it was all up 3400 if I remember correctly. But you have to remember back then my mouse and other stuff had only been out not even weeks. Now it would be a lot cheaper :) Damn technology.

  • yeah true :)

  • My rig is pretty similar - not quite as good GPU, but I am up there. I don't know why poeple got so fanatical about the Q6600, it's because It's a quad series core, people said: "must be good - 4 cores" Do you realise the Core 2 Duos perform much better in gaming then the Q6600. Go for the e8400, or generally there is stock shortage in Australia, go for a e3110 in Xeon range ;D

    Specs:

Intel Xeon e3110, Gigabye EX-38-DS5 motherboard, Team Extreme RAM DDR2 800MHz 4-4-4-12 timings 4GB, etc.

  • Yes I do realise that the Dual Cores perform better in games, but I do a lot more movie making, rendering graphics, making maps, skinning game models and image processing then gaming :)

  • Wats the BIOS update. And Wats the Q66?

  • can that CPU Cooler if with an

    AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400 dual-core?

  • There is actually a similar version for AMD. I think you can use the same one because it came with clips that I think where for AMD CPU's

  • 8800Gtx way to expensive for its performance lol you couldve gone for the 8800GT or the 8800GTS wouldve been cheaper but enough of that thats gonna be a damn good gaming rig in my opinion

  • 8800GT wasn't out when I built this system, look for the dates when I posted these videos.

  • lol now that you mentioned it lol

  • hey,

    i'm from Australia too.

Some really nice parts u got there.

how much did it cost all together?

  • wow man 500gb do you realy need that much?

  • Yup I make a lot of movies and music. I play guitar so I always need room for recordings :)

  • Not really seeing as I want to do future upgrades, Mr Negative.

  • He is such a negative Nancy, haha. :P

  • DATZ REALLY NICE =D

  • Asus Strakör?

  • I wanted that monitor, but right when i was going to order, they deleted it off tigerdirect :o

  • i love ure system :)

i only whant a better vid card.. and maybe a faster cpu ..!! and btw im getting the same sound tomorrow xD

look my rig to ( not that much but its ok.. :P )

    byee

  • Nice :D

  • omg me n u got about the same rig

  • its almost as if u just raided EB games lol

  • lmao

  • lol

  • whats modgular mean on the power supply?

  • It means you can remove the cords and put in the ones that you want

  • Thanks =D

  • You should list all your parts and cost in the vid description.

  • hey, i got a question... plz answer, how much did u pay for those parts, cuz im working really hard, and its not easy to pack tobbacos, anyways, how much did that cost, plz answer

  • hi bro...

you said you update your bios for the q6600 to work.

how did you do that and what bios did you update?

im planning to buy the same motherboard.

    thanks gro

  • hahaha same case here :D

  • hahaha same psu here :D TT ftw! :P

  • how much did all that run you?

  • Great setup man save up for a 30" dell monitor or Apple ;)

  • i am leaving all my stuff in the bag for the build too :)

  • awsome stuff whish i had the money for the best

  • good build

  • Now that's a nice monitor. I had two videos in my profile showing off mine, but I removed them just last week. By far my most favorite monitor.

  • Yeah its rly nice and has a great warranty too. Thx for the comment

  • You have a great rig. Monitor is great. Any tips that you would give to other computer builders?

  • Don't blow it up :D nah uhh just don't be hell fiddly with it get in there and be a bit rough, some components are bloody hard to get in and require quite alot of strength :)

  • i have that monitor also... its the best ive ever had

  • how much cost the geforce 8800 gtx?

  • will do callum ;)

  • I've just finished watching this series. And I have to say well done, that is a fantastic rig. Very informative. I'm currently working on my 2nd build, I'm a little low on money but I'm putting a LOT of work into earning it lol. BTW, the first boot is one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced, it really is! I also had to do a BIOS update, as I got a C2D around the time when they were first released. nuff said lol

  • Omg I know how bad is the first boot! Heapes scary haha. I had to flash the BIOS aswell for my Q6600 Cos the Striker default doesn't like it or something, cant remember exactly.

Its people like you that make me keep wanting to make videos, im glad you enjoyed them :)

Post a comment on my channel when you want me to check out your new rig.

  • very nice man

  • Thanks dude.

  • Use P35 chipset motherboards if you're only using one graphiccards

  • He already bought the thing. So don't even bother. It's his money anyway. And how do you know that he isn't planning on getting an additional graphics card later on?

  • I actually like to keep my options open dfineee, Its still great for a single graphics card but I was planning on going sli.

    Thx's drtydzn12 :D

  • Very nice parts. And it's finally happening. :)

  • Nice,awesome dude.Enjoy.

  • Nice pretty much the same setup up as my own(still waiting on some main components to show up in the mail)....did u get the G0 stepping on your q6600?

  • Yep GO Stepping :)

Its completely built btw, just haven't had time to put the vids up, also im having some troubles booting with the Striker. The surrounding blue led's can come on but the on/off, Restart and CMOS buttons on the mobo will not light up, thus wont turn on grrrr...lol. Ill wack the videos on when I figure it out :)

  • Figured out the problem it was a backing screw that was shorting out the mobo. All fixed :)

  • Damn how long did it take you to figure that one out?? Would've driven me crazy...
