  • Electric cars run on power that comes from wind, solar, hydroelectric dams, nuclear, coal, natual gas...all that we have an abundance of in America. Yet Fox News (part Saudi owned) and the GOP (owned by big oil) want to do everything they can to keep us using oil that we buy from countries that hate America and then use our money to fund terrorism against us. Why do the Republicans hate America?

  • A few of these guys...had a hell of a time keeping that chessie cat grin off their faces...as they all went to the taxpayer bank! Type in TESLA CAR...in a SEARCH BAR...sometime to compare statistics...of when GOVT. makes something and when PRIVATE enterprise does!

I guess we are all "too small to succeed" and the hog-tough is "too big to fail?"

  • If I had one and went to buy $50.00 worth of groceries at the nearest town forty miles away, it would mean a three day trip and two hotels to get there (if the hotels had a charging station). I'd run out of power 3/4 of the way there, have to get a room while charging overnight and continue on the next day. Same on the return trip. No one can say this isn't a VERY BAD JOKE ON ALL OF US! Our tax money went not only to bail out this disaster, but paid for this asinine advertisement! Thanks Barry!

  • Where is the barf bag?

  • Obamamobile.........only cost us $ 60 billion .... Hoax n Chains....

  • Another wasted investment from OweBama...fuck the auto unions let the commie fucks get real jobs

  • 'V' is for FAILURE. The Volt is touted as a success from the countries most racist, lying piece of shit president so that should have clued you in on the agenda, but then again...0bots can't think for themselves and need told what to think, what is good, what is healthy, what is bad, who to watch, what to listen too.

  • hi

  • Why is there a random pic of the cadillac converj at 1:30?

  • Stinks

  • V for Chevy Volt, huh?

What kind of phone are people buying that's more expensive than a $40K car? I hope it's as successful as the Aztek. Hey, didn't you make that one too?

Hey, what's that behind the curtain? It looks kinda like an internal combustion engine...

  • The song is extremely corny but somehow catchy. Chevy Volts are made right here in Indy ! (WOO !)

  • hahaha! super corny song. But eh, I still listened to the whole thing

  • IT is very nice to no America still makes some of the best cars thanks to GENERAL MOTERS,ford and dodge.

  • GM is a corrupt company, propped up by a corrupt government and paid for by the U.S. tax payer.

  • @veprii The company went bankrupt because they are known as Generous Motors, they invented the electric bus with less pollution than thousands of cars.

After GM solved the biggest 24 / 7 service buss problem so now it is easier to make small varieties.

GM pays tons in generous pensions to those who worked extra in our defense efforts in the past

GM pays for metal, imports get metal from the Government. There is no way to compete fairly with an entire country.

GM does a lot, research costs.

  • " . . . cheaper than your phone . . "

    WTF?

  • @ElinorRose - My Samsung phone cost $50,000. The guy at Sprint said they all cost that much, but he was selling the car from the trunk of his Honda Civic in an alley and figured that if he was so busy he had to sell phones on his way to work that he must know what he's talking about.

  • GM should have died years ago. It's a shitty company with a shitty attitude towards customers and workers, been that way for 50 years or more.

  • @Wilbur665 WOW U R very stupid chevy makes some of the best cars on the road including the corvette it is one of the best sport cars in the world and other countries acty like the corvette unlike the dodge viper and the for shelby and sorry to tell you but General moters did not want to claim bankruptcy say thank you to are president for that one.

  • @tylersw10 i totaly agree with you

  • @tylersw10 - Thank you Resident Obozo! The Obozo Motors Dolt is a great vehicle!

  • Fail.

  • So we moved from powering our cars with gas to powering our cars with coal powered utility companies? So the "green" movement is all about moving the source of power behind the curtain? Plus you need to drive one for twenty years to see any cost savings over a similar size gas car. This is GM's way of telling you eco nuts that you are stupid naive yuppies.

  • @Majorsushifan - Psssst! Don't say that or the peons might figure it out!

  • Fail

  • original volt concept was ugly....so happy with the new desgin...the should make a volt coupe....just a hint at the much missed Ev1

  • There is only two things worst that the song and the lyrics and that is the voice of the singer and the volt dance XD.

Actually they should have chosen Captain Planet theme song instead of this. "Captain Volt, he is our hero, it would take pollution down to zero ♪♫ "

  • THE NEW VEGA IS HERE NOW

  • I LOVE IT! fuck the rest of the world and killers of our country! woot woot!

  • My ears have exploded

  • song's dont sell cars. quality, price and reliability do. How stupid can GM be.

  • Great car, clever lyrics, but song is f****** painful

  • I can't hear you--I just put a fucking ice pick through my ears!

  • Oh my God, this song is so fucking gay. the goverment should make it a crime to play this song.

  • GM sucks at marketing

  • The song will probably outlast the craptastic planned obsolescence shit that Government Moaners has made for the last 50 years.

Somebody put GM out of their misery.

    NO MORE PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE!

  • How in the hell did this song come from the people who made "The Heartbeat of America" jingles?

  • möchte ja nicht rum nervern aber bin total einsam wer hat lust zu schreibn

  • emission free? aha... so the electricity does not come from coal powerplants, nuclear powerplants and other non regenerative sources? Even powered/recharged by your home solar panels on your roof there is still emission due to the production of the solar cells etc. And rechargeable batteries are always not-environment-friendly. And producing a car is also NOT free of CO2 and other emissions...

  • agree: melody is a homerun - could be a hit with another text

  • The problem with this song, besides that it is STUPID, is that GM has no credibility when it comes to cleaning up the environment. It killed the EV1 against the public's wishes and gave us the HUMMER. I think GM needs to do a lot more to rebuild its reputation beyond making annoying songs.

  • Please, remove the lyrics, and it'll be a listenable melody.

Then fire whoever approved this song.

  • You yoyos dont get it.

Most people who would buy the volt would like this song. Quirky/left of center. Metal head, Papst drinkin, F350 driving headbangers are never gonna squeeze their fat arse into a volt so who cares if you like the song. GRRROCK ON!!!

  • It kind of reminds me of when Christens were doing Hard Rock. It was weird. This is more like ideologues writing popular music. It's just as bad.

  • The Volt was a good idea but this song is STUPID! The want list is going to start going the opposite direction just because of this song! The introduction and marketing of a product is just as important as the product itself, nice song Obama, did you come up with it on your own like the ones being taught to all the little kids. Youre an idiot!!

  • slider...

I disagree about the song. I think its a homerun. The rhythm reminds me of the successful Prius spots and the vocals are combo VW ad and the Juno soundtrack. But you are right about the other 2 things: The Volt IS a good idea and Obama is an idiot.

  • All this video/song needs is "My name is Barrack Obama and I approve this message" at the end of the video.

  • good idea"r"?

  • Cheryl Crow?

  • I actually like the song. Catchy.

  • Bad, bad song. Make it go away.

  • This reminds me of something a bunch of 60+ year old board members would think is a wonderful catchy jingle. Like the Geico commercial 'its the bee knees" not.

  • loose the song. it is not even "hip" in a dorky way.

  • In 2009 one of America's biggest automaker can only come up with a....slideshow with crap music?! That's their marketing or they made it only for fun or something like that? I'm happy I wasn't born in the USA.

  • Hippie crap of a song.

  • front profile at 0:51 looks mean, but the rest of it....just no. American automakers - Design a car that looks more refined with less plastic/chrome and maybe you can increase sales

  • is she British? She has an 'r' in half her words.

  • Wow, someone should put the crack pipe down. Just because it's a "song" that doesn't make the over-the-top-pseudo-green hyperbole any more digestible. The Volt is just embarrassing when you compare it to other EVs in development (yes, development, the Volt isn't available yet, either, and won't be any time soon -- limited runs for the CA market don't count. Even Hydrogen cars have that level of availability.)

  • You'd think that a multi-billion dollar corporation that's now owned by the US Govt. could at least come up with a decent jingle... but, apparently, they can't even do that right. As for the uninspired lump that is the Volt, I'll keep my sports cars (and keep buying them) regardless of gas prices, thank you very much. The Tesla Model-S is looking to be a very tempting daily driver, though... Why support 'business as usual' when you could support companies who are actually innovating?

  • agreed. theyre marketing the hell out of this car but its just another horrible eco box and their jingle sounds redundant and cliche. As for the Tesla, its way too expensive and looks like a lotus knockoff. Still waiting for the Toyota FT-HS hybrid..

  • @akainsano I was referring to the Tesla Model S, *not* the Roadster (which is built on the Elise platform...and that's partially why it looks like a Lotus). The Model S is their 4-door sedan with a range from 160 miles to 300 miles depending on the battery purchased, it'll do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, and starts at $50k after the federal tax credit. Google & Wikipedia are your friends.

  • Hopefully they don't crush this one in a spiteful rage.

  • shuldn't this montage start with a happy EV1 driving carelessly on the road and then getting crushed. then people who point at GM and an anxious face on GM. THEN the crappy design study mockup which they pretended was the Volt. then later they realized that they actually had to make it.

  • Based on what? I'm willing to bet that your calculations are based on the assumption that gas prices will remain at current levels over the life of the car.

Last year, when gas prices were over $4/gal, the Volt was more economically attractive than a base-model Ford Focus.

Gas prices are volatile, but increase with demand like everything else. As the world economy recovers, you can guarantee gas prices will go back up. What then?

The success of the Volt will depend on high gas prices.

  • At $4 per gallon, & a $40K cost, you would have over $23K in gas money if you bought a Cobalt. At 35 miles per gallon, you do the math!

  • Here are some comparisons to demonstrate how expensive gas has to be for Volt to win from a purely economical view (assuming $39,995 base cost, -$7,500 tax credit, 40-mile AER, 50MPG genset, 80% battery and 20% genset usage, 9.4kWh to charge, and $0.1311/kWh, 120,000 mile life on all cars).

    Insight Hybrid 4cyl: $6.21

    Cobalt XFE 4 cyl: $5.49

    Prius Hybrid 4cyl: $5.00

    Focus SE 4 cyl: $4.99

    Malibu LS 4 cyl: $3.18

Not bad considering gas almost made it to $5/gal a year ago. What will it be in 2011?

  • I also must add that the base cost is an estimate. We were first told $30,000, then $35,000 (from GM sources)- but GM has made no price official yet. I'm erring on the side of caution by giving it a high pricetag of $39,995.

Also, if you commute less than 40-miles each day, your average genset usage may be below 20%, decreasing gas use, and increasing the Volts economical competitiveness. Likewise, the Volt favors keeping the car longer compared to traditional gas cars.

  • Nice, this will become a grat car, and a huge step into revolutionizing the car. Is way better than the Honda and Prius in all ways, go Chevy!!
