Oh man that sounds nice!!! I'm thinking of getting this for my 2010. I'd prefer the CP-e nano SRI but it's on huge backorder. This one looks really good though. I'm slightly worried about CEL. Anyone have advice or comments?
@asarin86 Thanks for the quick response. I have a couple questions actually. What kind of power are you feeling from it in terms of overall power and turbo spool?@ What rpms. Like can you describe the power output in comparison to stock... Also, does the ECU need calibration? Let's say I install the part and turn the engine on. Does the computer automatically adjust to it? Thanks!!
yo, the power is definitely noticeable ( i think they quote around a 12hp gain), but you can definitely feel it...and the sound is just a night and day difference. You need to disconnect your battery while you install it, that will reset the ECU, so when you hook it back up and start it you will be good to go. It will kind of have a re-learning process though so you may not get the full effect of the SRI till the first 50 or so miles....you will love it though!
An aftermarket BOV is not necessary in this particular application; only if the flow is raised to a level in which it (the OEM BPV) inadequately expels gas. In such case you get the ever-sought-after (insert sarcasm) sound of compressor surge (t-t-t-tss). Some cars' ECUs throw CEL's when a BOV is installed rather than a BPV because the air is no longer vented back. If i were to go any valve i would stick with the OEM or an aftermarket BPV so i don't fail inspection
a small leak exists, i agree. but this leak doesn't lose 20HP!!!!
why would a manufacturer use a bov that leaks 20hp from the engine? it's just so un-marketing (sorry for my english) imagine the add from mazda "new mazda 3MPS with 280hp" (instead of 260 now) much metter for the possible client.
mazda could mass-produce (or mass-order) a much better bov to avoid the leak if it was so significant.
so probably the loss is maybe 1-2 hp which doesn't worth the extra cost of a better bov
AP is out man! Stages 1-3 are available to download as well.
Nice sound of the SRI, I've been debating the Cobb SRI or CP-E CAI, the cobb is half the price but I live in the desert so the CAI may be more beneficial for me.
im in the exact spot as you. i like in phoenix so its fucking hot during summer. but still, the air going into the engine will always be as hotter than your outside temperature, so theres not a big diff.
I live in Florida...So its hot and humid...PLUS it rains really bad in the summer. Sometimes I have to drive through big puddles...My friend just got screwed over cause he went through one that was too big with a CAI. Dont know what to do...
I have the COBB on mine now. My intake temperatures, post turbo/intercooler, are typically only 2-3²C higher than ambiant when on the move. This is monitored via the ODBII data port. I made up a very basic heatshield to block the engine heat from the filter which prevents the intake temps getting too hot when stopped. It's much easier than the CAI and to me the CAI presented much more risk (water) with little benefit if any.. SRI sounds good. :-)
i feel you man...but the gains from a SRI were only around 12hp. The gains from a CAI is so much more. Obviously depending on climate...Hows your heat shield holding up. Were you able to feel a noticable in hp and tq with the short ram? I am not sure which one I want to buy...I live and florida and it rains soooo bad here.
No CELs on my 2010 MS3 with Cobb SRI. Only light that comes on now is traction control.

what up! no cel issues at all. tons of people on the forums are running this without any issues. let me know if you want any more info!

@asarin86 Thank you so much for the detail. I'm definitely getting the Cobb. I'll probably get in in a couple weeks or so. I'm really excited for it.

@AntowQa
NO CEL...dont worry about it you will be fine

If you have an intake and not an exhaust why do you have the camera behind the car?
Crazy4mazdaspeed 2 years ago
There is more to the video than just the runs shot from behind the car...
asarin86 2 years ago
yea i no that but it would have been better if you have revd the car in-front of the camera just a suggestion
Crazy4mazdaspeed 2 years ago
If you live in hot climate areas, the CAI is the way to go. Cuz engine heat, plus the hot climate will definately not help a SRI.
That COBB SRI makes the stock BPV sound good!
GiveMeABowlOfNoodles 2 years ago
that sound good man. how much increase in power did it give you?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
aftermarket bov gets you 20 more horsepower... the stock one is plastic, don't believe me? go look...
and yes cobb is working on ap.

50/50 VTA and Recirc :D
MPS32nR 3 years ago
BOV doesn't give horsepower. they just release the air trapped between the throttle body and the turbo when you lift the gas
dimos47ki7 3 years ago
The stock BPV leaks. A higher quality BPV or BOV will hold a higher boost pressure longer resulting in a notable power increase.

wow scratch that one. so its turboed with a upgraded BOV??
Isaacdlc 3 years ago
Stock turbo. No upgrades, its the stock bpv as well. The only powertrain modification is the short ram intake.
asarin86 3 years ago
im not tryin to sound to sound cocky. (because i want to learn about performance tuning and mechanics.) but for a stock bpv that sounds sweet.
Isaacdlc 3 years ago
dont worry about it...it is a stock bpv...can e-mail you pictures if you want! :)

is that a stock turbo???

It shouldn't, unless the failure/problem can be traced directly to the intake.
