  • I replayed this scene in the movie many times myself, how Achilles starts off slow jog, then speeds up throwing off the timing of the second spear then springs off the left foot up sticking the blade down into the lung & heart through the soft spot opening...perfection.

  • Why does a sword pulled out of a leather sheath make a metallic sound?

  • @guyfihi because.. ITS WAR lol

  • @guyfihi Have you tried it? The vibration of the sword is what causes that reverberating metallic *shing* sound. not the friction of leather on bronze ;}

  • @thecloakandblade @fakejohnwilkesbooth and as for his appearance...look up Wrath of Achilles on whichever web browser you prefer and you'll see that the Depiction of him in that picture is pretty close to Brad Pitts Physique

  • @nasengori27 Every depiction of achilles whether it be painting or statue does not show him as pretty boy Brad Pitt scrawnesque. Yes, we have found evidence as to how they fought. I don't know if you want me to do your hw for you and link you to some specific museum or book but there are those who have dedicated their lives to studying this era. I love war movies but this one was just bad. The only good things about this were the actors from Braveheart.

  • @thecloakandblade I disagree. On the contrary i havent seen a depiction of Achilles that was as big as a bodybuilder. I would love for you to put up a link for a specific picture of him.I think the actors did a great job. or you should put up another actor that could do a better job acting With around the build you are looking for.

  • dam, that was one smooth move !

  • yo pubudunuwan ima let you finish but LotR had some of the best war scenes of all time! of all time!!!

  • i am jacks complete lack of intrest

  • 0:43 thats it?????

  • Just proves... bodybuilders do NOT belong on the battlefield. Any skilled warrior could have beaten Boagrius - because he's too damn slow.

  • In handball, we call this triplestep.

  • well that was easy

  • the real best war scene is in 300

  • The best thing about this movie was Brad Pitts running style.

  • @MioRaem I'm pretty sure thats called a sprint.

  • swag

  • What is this movie called?

  • @MrZubze troy

  • Scrawns weren't warriors back then

  • @thecloakandblade

    Reference?

  • @Thagros The movie is unrealistic. The reason they had to have that scrawn do unrealistic matrixesque leaps etc. was because there were no warriors that small back then and it would look ridiculous in a proper fight script.

  • @thecloakandblade. Excuse me? Ancient warriors were not bodybuilders. Boagrius was intimidating, but sadly he would have met the same fate against any skilled opponent.

  • @baobubs Ancient warriors lifted far heavier objects than modern day bodybuilders and were of far better genes with far better nutrition (no unnatural supplements or protein powder, creatine, etc.). I saw no skill in that clip, just an unrealistic matrixesque hollywood joke. I'd go as far to say that even 300 is more realistic than this film. Also "Is there no one else?" sounds like a rip from Gladiator's "are you not entertained?" a titan of a film compared to this crap.

  • @thecloakandblade Lifted far heavier objects than modern bodybuilders? Far better genes? Better nutrition? You're joking. They mostly did gymnastics for conditioning, and had nutrition perhaps on par with modern athletes. They weren't bigger or bulkier than modern bodybuilders, though they were arguably fitter/stronger in the ways that matter most for fighting. Brad Pitt in this movie is probably on the bulky end of what they would have considered acceptable fighting shape.

  • @fakejohnwilkesbooth The broadswords, shields and insanely heavy armor warriors in that era wore were far heavier than your normal squat or bench. Yes, better genes, they hadn't yet become polluted with sendentaryism and mass marketed perscription drugs. Better nutrition, yes, no processed foods or McDonalds fast food drive thru, microwaved meals etc. Gymnastics? Are you joking? Most warriors then were too huge to even sprint. They advanced in a march.

  • @thecloakandblade Only your first point was right, go back and do your research.

  • @plyinglemon Again, I'm being called out on nothing.

  • @thecloakandblade i agree with plyinglemon

  • @thecloakandblade @fakejohnwilkesbooth you guys do realize that this film is based on legends in the Illiad. the film makers took specific quotes from the Epic and formed it into a movie. There was no way of telling what the warriors actually looked like. Nevertheless how they fought. The Illiad only says "Achilles fights with a Godlike demeanor." in my honest opinion they took what they had and made a good take on what this battle was like in the illiad.

  • @thecloakandblade You, sir, are talking out of your asshole. Back then everybody generally was alot smaller due to weaker healthcare and nutrition. Learn to check facts before you speak.

  • @gielos Furthermore, it appears the only scrawn in the film is the main character (his opponent is a more accurate depiction). And it makes no sense how he defeats him. He cuts him in the shoulder blade and it incapacitates him while he swings in the complete opposite direction? I'm not saying frail types didn't exist back then. They were scouts, and archers. Or they were sent to climb over the walls and gather information before true rogues. They simply were not melee warriors.

  • @thecloakandblade Oh, I agree, you're probably right man. I just wondered what historical evidence we're basing this assumption on. I assume that anyone who could call themselves a warrior was built as fuck back then. Then again, what do we know about their training regimes? What do their remains tell us about their skeletal structure? Wanted to know if you had any backup on that. Cheers.

  • @Thagros I'm not an anthropologist but I'm just stating general facts. As technology progressed we had to do less hard labor and things became easier.

  • @Thagros If you nose about on the net a little it is pretty easy to find reliable accounts. For instance, the skeletons of English longbowmen recovered from the Mary Rose showed extreme asymmetry caused by training starting when they were young (around 7 years) boys. These men could shoot a 120 pound bow all day. Or find some accounts of Zulu warrior training. Probably the finest conditioned soldiers ever and complete nutters.

  • like a prancing gazelle

  • Haha, Brad Pitt running in slow motion, then cutting a guy's neck in slow motion, and delivering some ridiculously written lines. Sorry, mate, but if you think this the 'Best War scene ever', then you might not have seen a war movie yet.

  • THIS is the best war scene ever.

Rohirrim charge: Battle of the Pelennor Fields

  • Talk about attitude .....

  • what the hell is wrong with the audio

  • Very sexy.

  • They should have called this movie, the Brad Pitt show

  • Dude thats the finishing move for spartan on deadliest warrior game...

  • @nj5alive were do you think the deadliest warrior game got it from :)

  • Lord of the rings still have the best war-scenes ever. imo atleast :p

  • @Boikain you"re right

  • @Boikain IHAVEBEENRAPEDBYJESUIT-TRAINEDLAWENFORCEMENTSPIES

  • ha, in this movie, the one with hector vs achilles is so much better

  • 300 IS THE BEST!

    fun fact

    its real!

  • 300 IS THE BEST NOT THIS!

  • achilles vs chuck norris. THAT wud be epic

  • who would win in a fight? achilles - brad pitt... leonidas from 300 or gladiator - russel crowe

  • @DaProfessor13 achilles

  • @DaProfessor13 Chuck Norris

  • @DaProfessor13 ohhhhh thats a good one

  • @DaProfessor13 None of the above - Ujio from the Last Samurai

  • You didn't see "Save the private ryan" then

  • Brad Pitt was SO awful in this.

  • Not the best war scene. Besides this was just a duel, not a battle.

  • this is Achillies right?

  • @Mocasta right

  • This is how duels should be fought when elite warriors fight...fast and effortless. The scene captures the greatness of Achilles as being the best soldier in the world - opponents die in seconds, not minutes.

  • That described his sex life, in and out.

  • did nandrolone already existed in those times?

  • lol they have pac-man shields

  • troje?

  • No you all have it wrong! its I used to be Achilies but then i took an arrow to the heel!

  • maybe i didnt watch this move close enough the first time...but where is odysseus in all of this?

  • @mogilligan He is very important but he doesnt apear on srean very often

  • imagen if 0:30 would have hit the king.. war over. haha

  • @berto13579 ...and the movie too maybe...hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • 0:42 seems legit

  • Brad Pitt actually tore his achilles tendon making this movie.

  • 00 - ACHILLES IS BADASS

  • i hate the *schwiiiiiiing* noise in movies, everytime they draw a sword there is this sound.

they should stop using this stupid sound, its not realistic.

  • @888HamilkarBarkas888 I would agree if only I knew what it truly sounds like to have a blade pierce through flesh... but I don't.

  • the huge fatass guy sounds like a smoker from L4D,thumbs up if you agree

  • @fragger91 go fuck yourself with thumbs up

  • Achilleas is ancient greekw ord..it means speedness fastness... now you know why

  • 1:17 only the front row is real =)

  • @Siphodias92 how can you tell

  • @wirlwirlwirl I watched a lot of behind the scene movies

  • this is NOT the best war scene ever.

  • @bigdaddyDtime

Yes...the other man was to stupid in this fight.

  • I actually named my gerbil Achilles lol

  • the arrow comment made here actually made sense lol

  • @HoneyBadger19801 Impossible :) Noone would let him take the position :P. Other interesring thing is "independant" politic :) THats even more funny.

  • sprinting spear level 100

  • All this talk of arrows in knees makes me wish for a nuclear winter.

  • Enought with the "arrow to the knee" stuff. I no Skyrim is a great game but get a life...

  • "Imagine a King who fights his own battles" Leonidas and Achilles would become bffs!

  • and Alexander the Great

  • This Is Sparta calling America.......Is there 300 Men in America willing to fight for freedom. Is there 300 Vets, 300 Marines, 300 in the Air Force, Army and Cops. Anybody at all? Or will you allow yourselves and your children to be chemically neutered in to girly men by the men with dark intentions? If you allow them to go any further through diet and injections it will psychologically and physically be impossible to resit. Then the ones who survive will be enslaved forever.

  • FOR PEOPLE WHO KEEP SAYING HE GOT ARROW IN THE HEEL NOT KNEE, ARROW IN THE KNEE IS A SKYRIM REFERENCE. thumbs up so people know

  • Who the hell were they fighting in this scene? The enemies remind me of Illyrians: they have the serpent icon on their shields which was a common Illyrian symbol and that big warrior had what looked like a celtic necklace around his throat (forgot its actual name) illyrians wore the same thing with their culture being melded from Celts and Greeks. Their probably a Greek city state but I'm just throwing this out there.

  • And the shortest one

  • Psst hit Him in the heel..!

  • "Is there no one else?!" *Kratos walks in*

  • @m1n3t ... and get the ass kicked

  • Comment removed

  • @m1n3t kratos would be on achilles side.

  • @m1n3t Kratos: Wassup, bitch!

  • @m1n3t Kratos would lose, even with his skills and weapons

  • @m1n3t Chuck Norris walks in :P

  • @m1n3t xD That'd make Brad shit his pants. :D

  • a true son of a bitch !

  • Achilies vs Hector fight was much better !!

  • o great i like this fight

  • PWNED

  • While heel is correct, taking an arrow to the knee is a Skyrim reference.

  • ia facut branhii:)))

  • The harder they fall......

  • I used to be Achilies, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @Slambertmilam11 I wanted to become a god , then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @Slambertmilam11 its actually to the heel

  • @Darkvision271 you do know arrow to the knee is a skyrim reference

  • @Slambertmilam11 in this case, the heel

  • @Slambertmilam11 in the heel. :)

  • @Slambertmilam11 no, you heel!

  • @Slambertmilam11 your heel srry

  • @Xboxskaterlass omg you dont get it

  • Comment removed

  • @Slambertmilam11 More likely to the heel, in any other way he was invincible.

  • @Slambertmilam11 he took one in the foot

  • @Slambertmilam11 don't you mean heel lol

  • @Slambertmilam11 Actually it was an arrow in the foot.

  • @fermi911 Actually, it was the heel.

  • @hollowman9514 And the heel is part of the ... foot.

  • @fermi911 Ha. You obviously didn't pay attention in anatomy class. -_-

  • @hollowman9514 Technically the heel is part of the foot. The calcaneus (heel bone) is at the end of the foot.

  • @Slambertmilam11 I used to be Achilles, then I took an arrow to the heel.

  • @BurningSushi460 look where it got you. your dead and I am a town guard. I win.

  • @BurningSushi460 look some posts above this....

  • @Slambertmilam11 to the heel would've been better lol

  • @Slambertmilam11 Ummm....The "Achilles heel"?

  • @Slambertmilam11 more like an arrow to the ankle!!! LMFAO

  • @Slambertmilam11 and Then U died. did i finish the story?

  • @Slambertmilam11 no the Achilles tendon not the fucking knee

  • @Slambertmilam11 No its, I used to be Achilies, then I took an arrow to the achilies.

  • @12ifyMMA I used to have the top comment, then a billion people made retarded corrections. Now I run 4chan. profit?

  • Comment removed

  • that is a kid from Louisiana,USA lol

  • pfft i could have owned achilles in a 1 on 1 before i took that arrow in the knee

  • @KAoSILLuZionZ1995 stupid arrows, they always hits the knee

  • Good, yes, but a one on one fight can hardly be called a war, imo.

Can't agree with the title either.

  • great fight 5* movie . TROY . :D

  • Did you hear that Agamemnon? You´re not his king! This fight is ivalid...

  • This movie needs very little CGI - It's too cleverly done.

  • Yeah, definitely the best war scene ever. And the most awesome opening of a great movie. Brad Pitt spent months working out and working with Petersen and the fight directors to develop a unique style for Achilles. How would a warrior be the Greatest ever, what special edge did he have, special gift/talent?. I think Troy's the best movie of it's kind, ever. P.S it doesn't have enough CGI to look fake - like e.g. "300". This scene has a little but the Hector duel has none.

  • @baronherezus wtf are you talking about? Lol Brad Pitt is the shit in this movie he did an awesome job that's why he was up for an academy award for this movie. Lol you don't get oscars for being emo

  • Little-known fact: An ancient Greek accent is nearly indistinguishable from a modern English accent.

  • really you chose this over leonidas's killing spree in 300?

  • I agree with Kaldhore. BP is awesome in most rolls but this 1 just doesn't suites him. He is just 2 soft looking, and 2 emo. And what about a totally forgettable music ?! With out a good composing some movies are just good, and nothing more, but with great music some movies are just epic. One of the best movie music composers Basil Poledouris - Conan ( The first one ofc :), not this new garbage, hunt for the red october... )

  • the taller they are, the harder they fall!

  • Jānoskatās pirmā minūte vairākas reizes, lai saprastu/sajustu. ^Rudzulauks^

  • Brad Pitt, if he wasnt in this film it would have been 100% better.

  • if u wanna see achilles enemy in action u should watch ong bak 1. Such a badass monster.

  • Movie and story was good. I hate Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom though

  • @FluffyPoofPoof Yeah but orlando bloom does his job well, playing that faggot prick of Paris. I just wanted him to die like in the real story.
