  • What ryu is this?

  • Do you have any concept of sayabiki ?

  • How much does it cost to be a part of one of those kinds of schools? I'd love to do it, I just keep thinking that it's an unrealistic wish.

  • actually yes i go to one for both aikido and toyama ryu battojutsu

    Shindai Aikikai Aikido Dojo

1940 Brengle Ave. Orlando, FL 32808

  • would an HRC1060 be good for a sword or would 1055 be better?

  • if you find any in Orlando area let me know! I go to an incredible Aikido dojo there, but would love to find one for Battojutsu

  • I don't know but it is worth noting that this isn't iaido. Iaido is generally focused on the formalism and ritualism of drawing the sword and less on being able to kill by drawing the sword.

  • This video has been inspiring me for months, the noto is emacculate & the multi strike katas...I want to see what's new, & maybe nukitsuke w/ multiple cuts on tatame...Batto(jutsu/do) 4 Life!

  • omg... they make the swords swish in the air.... those things are heavy....

  • enjoyed the demonstration very much focused and crisp, 5 stars

  • Very smooth, lovely movements - well done!

  • that was a nice tameshigiri.

  • very very nice video!

  • Lol at 1:23, I'd be scared shitless if I was the guy in seiza

  • you bet

  • Do they call you battosai?

  • Very nicely done. Tell me, what is required of one to practice battou or iaido? Any specific requirements?

  • beautiful dojo

  • indeed.

  • hey, is possible to do like 2x fast than that? I would like to train it, but I saw some places that the students just learn the moves, and nothing more, they don't teach like, respect and good stuff like that.

  • Speed is not the most important thing when fighting with a weapon.

  • That's kindda slow for a battoujutsu. I am a kendoka and i am faster then him althoug he would kick my ass because he has amazing control wich i lack. But the point is: battoujutsu is supposed to be fast but he instead uses control battoujutsu has to be faster then that

  • very nice

  • Awesome.

What level are you demonstrating for? These Kata make my Bokken Suburi look like child's play.

  • Your lucky, its been a dream of mine to train in Battojutsu for a long time but there are no Dojos where I live. Be sure to count your blessings my friend.

  • wow..nice tameshigiri , btw i just love to trust my basic instincs of swordsmanship and fightinq . Use less streght but swift ..its a lot better.. but i can see ur skilled..how lonq uve been traininq..? me just picked up battojutsu from and uncle of mine but ive been traininq muay thai since nine.. i love learninq new fiting skillz

  • You must have a lot of upper body strenght to get that katana to sing like that. I could never get my katana to move so fast that the feedback is that audible, I am able to produce sound but not of that much volumn.

  • It has little to do with strength. It actually has more to do with the "blood groove" that runs the length of the blade. It catches air and produces sound. My other katana that does not have the blood groove makes no significant audible sound either.

  • it's also the concept that those are very light katana. or so i'm assuming.

  • Certainly, the lighter the katana, the easier it is to move fast.

  • There are many more common iaido ryu's, and this one seems as not so well known, and famous. But after I investigated further, this one seems the one which reflects the samurai spirit best. Basic, and straightforward techniques, and no artificial artistic maneuvers. Thanks to Julio Toribio for finding this ryu from Japan, under the ashes.

By the way the iaidoka is well-trained, congratulations.

  • How long have you been training. You are very skilfull everything looks effortless and when you commence tameshigiri the true power is shown!! If all masters and students were so conscienceous of the warrior practice they follow you would not get the silly comments posted about on here!!!

  • What style of iaijutsu is this?

  • Enshin Itto Ryu Battojutsu. Machida Kenshinsai is the Soke.

  • I envy your skill and training. I am still on my own path. Any helpful tips?

  • Siiiiiiick

  • fascinating...

  • What does it mean when practitioners smack the hilt after certain moves (such as the one at :48)? Is this a form of chiburi? Thanks!

  • Yes. That is a form of chiburi. My understanding is that any motion or action that is intended to "cleanse" the blade prior to returning it to the saya is a chiburi. Thanks for asking.

  • Your moves are very fluid and inspirational. Great performance!

By the way, I wnnt to ask about the sword. Is that an iaito,e real nihonto or a real sword crafted by a non-japanese smith?

  • That is an iaito used in the kata. The one used for the tameshigiri is a shinken. I don't make enough money to get one crafted by a true Japanese smith:-)

  • Nice looking dojo

  • The practitioner of this clip wouldnt happen to be an aikidoka as well now would he?

  • Afraid not. Seibukan Jujutsu, but no Aikido so far...those guys have great moves though:-)

  • The whole clip screams "aiki". The founder of Seibukan have extensive Aikido training.

  • Great demo and video, Jeremy. Keep going.

  • Thank you for the excellent example of technique, focus, and style. The speed and accuracy is amazing. It has been an honor.

  • Your style is very enjoyable to watch. The rhythm and flow of movement is very combat oriented. I disagree with those critical of your technique, given that it is being analyzed by those who are unfamiliar with it; we have to assume that it is consistent with what you have been taught and is therefore a part of your technique.

  • U r my hero. U inspire us all still.

  • The Nuki Uchi and Noto are just a bit sloppy, not by very much though. Nerves? A litte much on the Kesa-Giri on the first temeshigiri, overall outstanding and a pleasure to watch!

  • Yeah, just so the non-martial artists know. It's not very polite to say things like this, especially on the internet. Appreciate the spirit and quality of the demonstration and the rest need not be said.

  • What style is this??

  • Enshin Itto Ryu Battojutsu. Sitting in the back left (wearing blue) is Julio Toribio, So Shihan.

  • Great job. You make all of us proud and we know you represent hombu dojo and it's budo well.

  • Very nice my friend. There are those that play at Battojutsu and then there are those, like yourself, that get right to the heart of it. See you soon. Keep rocking it.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but are those nuki uchi and noto not clean? Isn't grace more indicative of iaido, rather than battojutsu? I am not trying to argue, just understand for myself. Thanks!

  • amazingly done. sorry if im wronge, but it seems like your sacrificing clean technique for speed. proform the noto with alittle more grace then speed. other than that this is utterly amazing great job. lol nice tameshigiri

  • Nice one!

hmm who is that handsome man i see?

    oooo

    ooo

    i know! hahaaha

    see you in 2 mins

  • That's badass! Don't mess with this dude.
