Smeagol isn't shown enough love. Yes, Sam and Frodo were the heroes of the story, but we can't forget Smeagol. It was never Smeagol's fault that the ring corrupted him, and I think that by the end of the story, deep down, he wanted to atone for what he had done. I think he meant to die with the ring. Smeagol was truly just a victim of fate.

I think that Sam has one of the most important parts in this story! I mean, what would Frodo have been without Sam? He took Frodo on his shoulders at mount doom. He motivated him to go on and on. He gave Frodo hope in dark times. He protected him for Gollum. He saved him out of the tower in Mordor. He injured the spider so hard it had to flee. He provided him (Lambas bread).

Yes...in my opinion Sam is the one who destroyed the ring, and with it the evil in the world!

Frodo's burdon and mission is the ring it is Frodos task, a task that Sam cannot do. And because the ring drags Frodo down and depresses him he cant really do anything ells than focus on carrying the ring.

@drgaylord88 Well, understand this. Frodo is the only one who have truly shown resistance against the ring. If anyone else was to carry it, they would have fallen extremely quickly, just as Gandalf himself said. Only few people can resist the ring, the special ones like Frodo and people of great power like old Tom Bombadil, for example. Thus, Sam would have never make it there by himself, same goes for Frodo. Reason why people win against evil is cuz they stood together not alone.
