If I wanted to make a shape for example.. a rubber star, or heart and i want to stick it on my body (the finished product) for a project are there any toxin that will cause any skin rash thanks also where can I learn more about the properties of PT Flex 60 thanks
@KRYSISJAG Something like that would be better made out of Gel-10. The PT Flex series is probably too stiff. All of our technical data sheets and MSDS literature is available on the "technical data" page of our website.
Very nice video. I like the PT Flex material but it doesn't seem to be available in my region. What kind of material would you recommend to get the same soft elastic result? Thanks.
@alexi96 Depends on which resin or rubber is poured into the mold, the frequency of casting, and the mass of the part. A mold like this can yield well over up to 100+ parts if made right and castings don't have too much mass.
@FirearmsAmmunition PT Flex does not need to be degassed but if you need a chamber for degassing silicone you can go to Grainger and get a vacuum pump. There are some basic instructions on assembling a vacuum chamber in our molding casting handbook. It is a free PDF file on our webstore.
i want to cast my oil based sculpture in fiberglass, so i can make latex masks out of it, the question i have is, do you have any info and supplies that i can use to cast this mold? i use roma plastina oil and sulfur based clay, and want to know how it should be prepped for casting... what type of mold release should i use because there can be reactions to the fiberglass because of the clay being oil based and sufur based.. please help!!! thanks
The casting material had to be poured quickly through a small opening. In order to get the air out as the rubber is poured in a vent is made. This also helped keep the trigger bubble free.
I presume you made the mould from a real handgun. I am just wondering if this causes any problems with the gun afterwards? does the silicone get inside the gun and require an extensive clean up?
It was the reference to Walmart that made me think of Jeff Dunham, he's a very very talented and highly-viewed ventriloquist here on YT, he tours the USA and has a handful of really funny lil friends. One such friend is Walter.
Keeping on-topic,.. your videos have been very helpful to me, thank you. I'm deciding if I want to go through the added expense to make a custom mould for one-off special 'form' I have designed, for my GF.

how would you go about making the original mold for the rubber to be poured into it?
just shape around the item your trying to copy?or some other way?

@rodentum44 Check out someof our other mold-making videos. The "basic silicone mold" video gives a good explanation of the mold process.

@BenSteenbeck Not sure. PT Flex has some very exclusive features. Check to see if there is a Polytek distributor in your area.

does the rubber mix give off a vapor like paint stripper or fiberglass mix something not good to breathe
richardarichter123 1 month ago
@richardarichter123 These urethanes are very low odor. Decent ventilation is allways a good idea but they smell nothing to the degree of polyesters.

@brickintheyard ok thanks look to make rc car tires do you know what kind of rubber you can use for rc car tires

I want to make a mold using an airsoft gun. how do i prevent the silicone from entering the gun?
raminatox 4 months ago
@raminatox Use some modeling clay or vaseline to fill in any openings in the gun.

I think it is a Beretta Cheetah, because of the short barrel.

Will this rubber work inside a Plaster of paris mold and do you need a release?
sirbrad4 9 months ago
@sirbrad4 Yes, but you do need a release. A plaster mold requires a sealer such as mold soap and a release such as 2300.

does anyone know what rubbers are petrol resistant? i want to reform a fuel stop needle head inside a carburettor, any ideas?
jon6123 1 year ago
@jon6123 Most of our urethanes are fairly solvent resistant but you would need to run your own tests for an application that specific.

@brickintheyard good video mate. Do you have an instructional video that shows how youmade the cast ?

@nixymagoo Not of this particular mold, but the knife mold is made the same way.

Would PT Flex be hard enough for a knife handle?
MonoxideChild1219 1 year ago
@MonoxideChild1219 Use PT Flex 60. It might still need a rigid core depending on the application.
brickintheyard 1 year ago
@brickintheyard Where would I find it?
MonoxideChild1219 1 year ago
@MonoxideChild1219 Our webstore. The full PT Flex line is not up on our webstore so call us if what you want isn't listed.

How do you cast the mold for the gun without mucking up the gun? Do you just clean it thoroughly?
OuroborosOfGreed 1 year ago
It is best to use oil clay such as Klean Klay to block out any open areas to prevent the gun from filling with silicone and then clean it later.
brickintheyard 1 year ago
The PT flex 60 is more flexible, what if you want it more rigid? Can you use Easy Flow 60 clear?
iashakezula 2 years ago
EZ Flo 60 is rigid as well as EZ flo clear.

do you make a material that could be used to reproduce gas and brake pedal pads on antique cars? This material looks a little too flexable
roadkillontheweb 2 years ago
There are several stiff rubber products that would work for that. 75-80 is stiff, abrasion resistant, and may be pigmented black.

can u use alginate
funnybunnywithlemons 2 years ago
Probably not. Most urethanes foam like crazy if poured into an alginate mold.

Why didn't you leave a vent hole one other molds that you have made?
VvInstinctvV 2 years ago
????? There is a vent carved into the mold from the trigger up to the top of the mold with the pour spout.
brickintheyard 2 years ago
Sorry, I meant like on your other molds (not this one) you have not always included a vent hole, and I was wondering why.
VvInstinctvV 2 years ago
The casting material had to be poured quickly through a small opening. In order to get the air out as the rubber is poured in a vent is made. This also helped keep the trigger bubble free.

Anyone knows the resin(s) ingredients for hard and durable plastic?
7olusegun 2 years ago
EZ Flo 60 is a good, tough plastic. Mix it with PT Flex and it becomes semi rigid.
