I wish somebody here could explain why she never visited or even gave one single phone call to say hi to Dick York who was going through rough times in his life ever since he left Bewitched. It seems all strange to me for her to suddenly just cut ties with him. Poor guy, always so modest, never wanting to accuse anybody of anything bad. I just watched his last interview here in Youtube.
@ynashizzle - how do you know she didn't remain in contact with Dick York? You think all that is known about celebrities is what you read about or hear? She stayed in contact with Dick Sargent. Last time I saw them together they were riding on a float in the LA Gay Pride parade. She was asked why she was there, and she said something like "to support my bud, here" - meaning Sargent - who was gay. She didn't seem like the kind of person who would cut ties with the down-and-out York.
@ApocalypsePlough York was also interviewed in 1992, his last actually and he was asked when he was last in touch with Montgomery. He said he hasn't seen her in a while. He called her months earlier but he was told she was away or something like that. Wanna see? Search the video "Bewitched: Dick York - Interview (1928-92).avi" uploaded by tvserien1. Thank you.
I stand corrected @ApocalypsePlough, 2:43, he never saw Montgomery again after leaving the show years back. He called her weeks earlier, not months, and she was busy or out of town, he said. So no, I don't just believe what I see or hear or read about UNLESS the info came from the subect matter itself or shall I say, himself. I just can't say what happened after that interview.
@ApocalypsePlough Unfortunately, ynashizzle is correct. Plenty of interviews with Dick York where he says he hadn't talked to her in years. Also, I read a great book by one of the producers of Bewitched, William Froug, who said it was a relatively quiet set, everybody was professional and got along. The one exception was that Elizabeth Montgomery refused to speak to Dick York when they were not in a scene together. He never knew why that was, but it was obvious she didn't care for him.
I loved watching Elizabeth Montgomery on Bewitched in the UK as a child in the late 80s and 90s, I was gutted when I found out she had died in the late 1990s around 2004...I read an article about her online back then that she said to her husband whilst she knew was going to die that she hoped he would move on with his life and meet someone else. How selfless and loving is that? What a nice lady, a truly wonderful human being, RIP Elizabeth.
@LucaBlightBadass Recently read a book by one of the producers on the show and he openly mentioned that she didn't like Dick York. The minute they yelled "cut" she wouldn't speak to him.
@TrojanJustin Did she resent him cause he was suffering from cronic back pain so he needed help around the set, which could of held up the show at times! If so that sounds like she's a bit of a bitch, i liked dick york and ive seen interviews of him and he's seems such a nice fellow.
@LucaBlightBadass I might be totally off base on this, but I think it was complicated. She probably disliked him due to his painkiller addiction (he constantly needed them for his back). However, in his memoir he also admitted to having a crush on her in real life. Perhaps she was put off by this fact. She obviously preferred Dick Sargent who was pretty gay, and as he was obviously not as good in the role, maybe she felt "safer" around him.

@DA90027 Elizabeth Montgomery was the most beautiful woman ever in television and what grace she had; Lara Parker of Dark Shadows fame, and a sexy blonde woman herself, was the scariest; hmm...they both played witches.
@DA90027 And she seemed very approachable too. Not like a lot of big stars who seem to believe they're royalty. Elizabeth Montgomery always came across as a genuine, down to earth and pleasant person.
@pixelated111 What she meant was that her father told her if she just wanted to be an actress to be famous then she needed to find something else to do because there are a lot of talented people out there who want to be an actress because they love what they do and dont care about the lime light!! :)
This is so awesome! Thank you so very very much for posting this!!!!!!!!!! Elizabeth Montgomery is awesome! I used to watch Bewitched when I was a little girl. I still watch it today.
Thank You so much for posting this interview.I was looking for this interview for a long time & I found it on here on YOUTUBE yesturday.Great Interview.Elizabeth Montgomery did not change after Bewitched.I did see a TV-Movie she was in it was called Dark Victory (1976) with Anothony Hopkins on Cinemax a while ago.
She must have sold her soul to get a top TV show for eight years...lol That's my opinion, maybe I am wrong about it.
