Actually, I'm referring to kick drum triggers more than anything. You can set triggers hotter so they pick up low frequencies at lower volumes say, if you wanted to sound fast. You can pretty much buzz roll with your feet and it sounds like you're playing with full beater motion.

Damn...I understand that they improve the sound of the drums. I understand. You know how you can just play really soft on the pedals, and get that little buzz roll off the beater head? Well, triggers can make that buzz roll LOUDER, because you set the gain structure higher, giving the impression that you're playing really fast...which you are, but the triggers are helping you because they are hotter. Fuck I hope I don't have to explain that again.

Yeah dude it's all good. I'm not denying that they make kick drums sound better. I've just seen people just jack the gain up on their kick triggers so they can sound fast without moving their feet very much. Also, there are the triggers that you can actually install on Axis pedals. Almost like a morse code deal. Two pieces of metal touch each other and there is a brain that produces a kick drum sound.

I actually play Yamaha drums, no triggers. I use microphones to record and for live applications. To make your drums sound good, all you need to do is use good heads and tune them correctly, triggers or not. This guy does use triggers, but he plays so well with his feet that he doesn't need to use them to cheat. His drums sound really good with triggers. He is recording this at a studio if I'm not mistaken.

well i have a problem with tuning. i try to tune my snare and it doesn't sound good to me when i play but it might to others. i think tuning is kinda difficult. i have a tama and no professional recording. just a camera. this guy is pretty good. i think he drums at his house though. it seems like alot of people record at their own house so i am sure it is easy. how long u been playing?
