The sound before he made the "strange sound" was a sneeze. the strange sound is choking, which is why it started waving its head around like that. But they usually handle it themselves. No big deal.

That was a sneeze, but they make a similar noise from eating too fast because they can't burp like we can.

it was a cough. they do it if they eat their food too fast. if happens a ton then be worried but one everynow and then isn't bad. -owner of 8 guinea pigs and a foster parent for them

That was a sneeze or cough. If it does that more than like three times in a row, it is choking. I was feeding my little piggy a carrot and she took a BIG bite. Soon, she started doin that and making a wheezing noise. I opened her mouth and looked inside, to see a chunk of carrot flyin out of her throat. Probably one of the most scariest things to here ur little animal choke :'( now I freak out whenever she coughs or sneezes

it is completely normal it is just coughing or maybe had a bit of food stuck in it's throught. just like we do when we cough :)

Mine don't make that sound it could be harmful but I don't think so but if u notice white gunk in it's eyes it could be a upper respiratory infection

My guineas sneeze and its more of a "Aaapsst" noise. What your guinea pig did there was cough... one of mine does that if he eats to fast..he also does it if the Wood Shaving is a bit dusty, even though we do get top quality dust extracted shavings, its virtually impossible to remove it all.

it was coughing. it happens sometimes, mine does it to from time to time. piggies sneez kinda like us but shorter. they sneez if they clean their coat or the sawdust is too dusty . but that was definitely a caugh

That was him/her choking. I would be careful when they are eating things like hay or when they have treats with skin on like apples, grapes, or things like celery where the little stringy bits can get caught in their throat. Also take time in watching them drink, if they have a bottle and stuff the whole thing down their throats then try finding a shorter spouted one maybe.

They don't have a gagging reflex so cannot vomit so you can rule that one out.

It actually turns out that is was a sneeze and the vet said he might have allergies. He is all better now. Thanks for watchin!

Its not choking, its just a sneeze, its common for guinea pigs to do this. Whats funny is when they sneeze like that they also fart.

That's a little cough. If he's playing and eating/drinking normally, and not losing any weight, then watch him super closely. If you see any changes at all...take him to the vet. Guinea Pigs can get sick really quickly.
