  • @Blane23fly The lumbar spine is arched. The upper back can round a good bit and be okay. Rippetoe writes about this in SS. If you look at how Konstantin Konstantinovs deadlifts, he pulls with a rounded upper back as well.

    But you're right, we've been working on sitting back on the heels more and not losing power via thoracic spinal flexion off the floor.
