human always not get enough,people start said he was not hero!but they have to know that always accident couse by something not mater u are good or not,in this matter pilot save the life of people,what he if he let the plane crush and people die?ehh how many good pilot they let their planes crush and a lot of people die??? so the trusth remining PILOT WAS A HERO NO MATTER WHAT THEY SIT AND TALK.

On Germany tv last night "FOCUS TV" on Pro7

they interviewed Experts. The Experts stated that the 24 yr old female Co-Pilot who has had her licence for only 1 year should NOT have been trying to land the plane in these conditions due to her lack of experience especially with "CROSS-WINDS". The 39 yr old male Pilot who then took control should have ABORTED this landing much earlier!. He is now not the Hero everyone first thought. The reports of this investion should be ready in April, 2008.

But you can ask any instructor that female pilot has to go through a crosswind landing at some time in their life or they will never advance to bigger aircraft. even if she had her license for a year it is still a good way to take notes for the mistakes you made so you`ll do better in the next crosswind landing. How do you think the 39 year old knew how to get out of it? by going through the same thing she went through when he was at her level

so did the plane land? or did it take off again? the tower should have never cleared it for landing. But the pilots should have never attempted to land as well the moment they sensed that it was going to be bad.

I think the left wing clipped the ground right? Now that plane will probably be grounded since they won't know the extent of the damage underneath the plane and the structural integrity can not be guaranteed.

Well they aborted landing and went around for another attempt to land and made it but the tower can only deny landings if there is a severe thunderstorm or harsh winds and rains. The tower i think has a instrument that states if there is crosswinds or not and i guess it was too late to alert the pilot. Also it was just the wingtip that was damaged and yeah maybe grounded till the FAA gives the clearance after it`s repair.

Ich frag mich ja warum da jetzt so ein (ACHTUNG) "Wind"^^ drum gemacht wird!? Bis kurz vorm Aufsetzen sah es nach ner ordentlichen Landung aus. Bei ner Böhe ist es Normal das einem das Flugzeug so wegdriftet. Und eine Windböhe ist nicht selten. Hätte es niemand gefilmt würde auch keiner drüber Reden. Also ich verstehe die Aufregung nicht.

OMG!!!!! what is really unbelievable is that the pilot tried again to land. after 15 minutes the plane landed safely. still...why did they try to land in such BAD weather??? is it possible that Lufthansa is pressing its pilots to avoid diversions to other airport in order to save money???

Yes, the pilot tried it on an other runway again (first RWY was 23, then 33) and landed successfully. The wind came from 290 degrees...
