  • La Mar means of the ocean. Isnt that interesting. The Aztecs came from the mar to Florida. Minnie Moore Wilson said in her 1898 book, The Seminoles of Florida that Seminoles are Aztecs. We are putting the history together now that the Miccosukees are Mayans from the Yucatan but preceded the Aztecs in Florida by several hundred years. When we think of Calusa we should think Mayan and Miccosukee is synonymous with Mayan. Florida history is awesome!
