The Optimistic ClassRoom! oh mijn God, als je dit hoort dan wil je (IK!) toch gelijk dit curriculum in ons schoolsysteem invoeren! to create empathy, their place, in terms of understanding themselves in the world
Well they key point is ''are we ready do this'' as a society in general? I don't want to be a pessimist or sound odd but sadly that's not what most parents want for their children. They want them to be successful & the meaning of success is not necessarily real happiness or emotional spiritual or psychological health. Empathy & morality focus & peace don't go well with our education or social economic system at least However that's what education should be about.
she is a good woman I htink, the face stuff is because she has t o compete in hollywodd, she is OLD FFS! So she looks OK. Mindfulness is the future, it saved my life, and Ilearn a lot from my kids and grandkids. Boy does she talk? How does she do thaT?
@insomnia759 what about her face....I think she is like 64 here and looks great :) She kind of quit acting, so when actors more or less are gone in the public eye and appear a few years later we see the difference in the age much more as when we see them in movies every year.
For those interested in Dan Siegel's work and how you can use mindsight in everyday life, check out some of his upcoming talks. He's got one on building resilience in relationships and another on mindsight itself. You can find them on psychalive
@ Fairfig... it's so great when someone who has the skills already to be happy and optimistic and evident in her life can then scientifically research it and have the access and funds to do so and put an everyday spin on it, is awesome for us normal Joe's of the world...otherwise it is "science" and unless you have a leaning and interest in it, you will not examine and delve into because it's "over our heads"!!
thank you for enlightening me. very very good. especially dan siegel's poise and elegance in making this complicated research understandable and impactful. thanks for encouraging me to continue my practice. I love the classes at the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and encourage everyone to try it.
Ok, she's scary, the idea they have is freaky, this is to much, to dangerous, let kids be kids.....
but yes, they got a point somewhere, in school they must not stimulate only the left side, but also the right brain side, not turn everybody in left side users, let us learn children to think outside the box as well.
We MUST understand the impact of 'traditional' school settings on the mind, body, and spirit of our children. Teachers...TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES! The children need healthy, balanced, HAPPY teachers. Teachers need happy, unintimidated, fair leaders! It takes is a shift in perspective. We are capable of that! As a 20+ year counselor - one main concern is our professional staff! Our children, and our school families need us to be at our BEST!
The more people know about kids' brain functions, the less we have to rely on society to nurture them. If you are not fortunate enough to have access to Goldie's amazing Mind Up program, you can learn what to do with your kids at home. A little effort goes such a long way. Goldie has gained my admiration for using her popularity for such a great cause! Kudos, Goldie, and thanks!
@Fairfig Your comment makes no sense! Goldie knows full well what she is talking about. She's put a tremendous amount of time, money and effort behind helping children. Who could make a negative out of that?
I've watched other videos of Daniel Siegel, and read many of his books. I love this brief synopsis of his work, and the power of mindsight. Thanks Goldie for doing what you are doing and spreading his work, as well as your own!

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very small sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “awhitesoul2012” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
Thanks.
