  • much better than the AC-130....

  • 0:28 Haters gonna hate.

  • Jesus christ, thats terrifying, and awesome. its almost like the new version of the Stuka, except its silent, which makes it even more terrifying.

  • Best part about any Gatling Gun-style weapon, it's technically not a machine gun because of the multi-barrel design.

  • Ha! China PLA; get THAT out of your ass...

  • I just love this plane: Can fly with one engine out and half the tail shot off. The armor on it keeps the pilot safe, it is beautifully armed for the job it has to do, and it is as ugly as a...well, wart hog

  • Killer farts

  • If you can hear the GAU-8, it wasn't aiming for you

  • Could you imagine hunting with this?

  • @garuda2shamrock

There'd be nothing left of whatever you hit. You could cut down a forest with this thing.

  • the freedom fart!! god i love those.

  • Hmm...so each touch of the trigger gets rid of what percentage of the total it holds?

    100/1200 * 100

Hmm.....seems like a slightly smaller round in a slower cycling weapon on a similar plane may have its place. That way you can shoot for a more than a few seconds total.

  • @MrShysterme

Unnecessary;consider that all you have is a few seconds window, the enemy won't just stand and watch but will open anti-aircraft fire, also you have to align the whole plane for shooting-you don't wanna do that for long.

Although you may be right on smaller round part

  • @Concreto1984 If the round was smaller could you then have the gun on a torrent so that you could shoot from different angles? I suppose I'm not thinking of this gun as I should. It's more like a mini-rocket launcher it seems given the power of the round. It seems like I am thinking of a small, maneuverable gunship (this jet with minimum caliber that penetrates armor mounted all over it on torrents maybe).

  • @MrShysterme

Smaller round, say 20mm, would only be more practical in a way that you could bring more ammo on-board. Mounting machine gun on some sort of mechanized chassis controllable e.g. via helmet wouldn't be practical due to speed the planes usually fly at; that's where the helicopters come in:)

  • almost as dangerous as my penis

  • @humphrey6000 With your penis being slightly more deadly because HIV has no cure. But I joke!

  • @MrShysterme its packing some serious high explosive incendiary rounds.

  • No mater your hatred for war, disdain of the Americans, or conspiracy theories about the Military Industrial Complex, you have to admit this is a mind-boggling piece of engineering.

  • DAVIS-MONTHAN AFB BABY 12th AFB BITCHES

  • fart sounding shit

  • The plane is A10C Warthhog. The gun is the GAU-8 Avenger.

  • /k/ ?

  • Is this GAU8 or a10 ? i am confused

  • @15935715935788224466 The A-10 is the aircraft. The GAU-8 is the gun mounted inside it.

  • @Xaluber thanks, mate.

  • Those bullets make me horny...

  • its a cannon with wings!

  • If they ever do invent a Mech, the GAU-8 should be the gun they should stick on it.

  • The A10 is not an airplane with a gun stuck on it! It's a gun with a plane on it!

  • wonder what this gun could do to a leopard, abrams or leclerc with an at rounds?? could it disable those monsters?

  • @karppap If you are talking about Anti Tank rounds, the Avenger actually fires depleted Uranium (30 mm). DU is very heavy, and it pretty much swiss cheeses anything it touches.

  • @Scipiothegreat Even though 20mm and 25mm ammo can take out tanks just fine, the Gau-8 was designed as dual purpose for anti-armor and anti-bunker warfare.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix Yes... I was talking about shredding armor. Depleted Uranium is still a big bullet.

  • @karppap it has at rounds only. two wariatn mainly, armor piercing and incendiary high explosive. it can penetrate the tank at some places, and able to destroy tracks, or damage them, plus with its impacts, it activate the explosive reative armour, and basicly it strips it from the tank. Though the plain can carry more have anti ground missiles, or bombs too.

  • @karppap

From the front or sides? PRobably not, but A-10 do a shallow dive and fires from the TOP....Through the top armor and the even more vulnerable engine deck...You betcha! If the A-10 is using API, then even the heavist beast such as the Abram or Challenger 2 will be toast when they get struck! Remember its not just one or two rounds, its over 100 hundred rounds impacting at the sametime. So at least some will penetrate

  • can I find one if I roam around the Veldt?

  • I want this for new year!

    better than firecrackers

  • with weapons like these about you have to give it to the taliban for having some balls to even risk getting shot by that thing

  • The worlds only flying gun

  • American Plane, British Speaker, Japanese Subtitles.

  • @anonforuz Actually its, American Plane, Australian Speaker and Cantonese subs.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix even better

  • The GAU-8...Toothpicks for Talibans!

  • kick ass

  • Has any1 noticed that when it fires it sounds like some1 is farting? XD

  • Ha "full-circle" get it?

  • That no machine gun, that's an auto cannon

  • In soviet russia.... ah hell it'll blend soviet russia

  • It will not blend. It will blend you. With no problem.

  • 0:22 mikey mouse

  • I get to watch some A10's shoot tomorrow. It's going to be EPIC. I will upload some videos!

  • if i saw a a-10 comming my direction, id shit myself

  • Any nation that goes against America might as well get rid of there tanks!

  • The A-10 is a plane mounted on a gun...

  • @Annofreak69 Absolutely! I´ve seen entire GAU-8 Avenger system and its big as a car!

  • the definition of shock and awe

  • ahh..... chuck norris pocket hand gun lol xD

  • The GAU8 is the better choice, when it comes to tank killing, due to the MUCH heavier projectiles (30x175mm @over 600g vs 23x115mm @ not even 200g). And heavier means more payload. Ok, it takes more time to fire it, but against ground targets...who cares? gsh6-23 is better against fast moving, not so easy to hit targets, like airplanes and especially missiles. With 10000rpm you can be sure to hit what you want to hit.

  • @BloodyMcHaggis You are not going to use a CAS gatling gun against aircraft most certainly not a missile, That is not the purpose of a CAS aircraft, the gatling gun is for the sole purpose of attacking ground targets. Any AA capbilities come from the AA missiles on the aircraft of which the A10 can carry more.

As a CAS aircraft there is no denying that the A10 is simply the best in the world.

  • @ps92117 Thats what I tried to accentuate. The A10 with GAU8 against tanks etc. , the faster gsh6-23 in fighter aircrafts for dogfights (theoretically) and the big brother gsh-6-30 on battleships versus missiles, similar to the Phalanx CIWS. 3 (or 4) Awsome weapons, but not comparable, because of their different purpose.

  • Lighter is better

  • if you happen to be inside the tank when it's hit with this weapon you will be blended... well blended.

  • Dear US military

  • The gau isn't a gun atached to a plane, it's a gun that just happen to have a plane around it.

  • Lol when he said "Flying a machine gun" i thought of a dude on a massive gatling gun with wings lol

  • Its raining death

  • yea this is nice. but the soviet gsh-6-30 can fire at double the rate 0,0

  • @jkremlin

The 6-30 fires at a maximum rate approximately 40% faster, not 100% faster, and with a muzzle velocity more than 200 m/s slower (inferior armor prenetration). But really I should say "fired", past tense: not only were there no Soviet attack aircraft that could fit enough ammunition for the weapon to be practical, the 6-30's wild recoil vibration tore up any plane fitted with it. So it saw little use when it was new, and almost no use now. Just a couple Mig-27's in Ceylon.

  • @Rotard12a yea, not double the rate, but it was 40% faster and in size, way smaller than the avenger .

  • @jkremlin Thanks for citing my comment. The size difference is due to compromised barrel length, poorly designed recoil system, and minuscule ammunition supply.

Fun fact: The Mig-27 can only hold about 280 rounds of it's weaker ammunition. After 4.5 seconds it is empty.

Extra fun fact: 6-30 barrels are shorter and less accurate. This means the 4.5 seconds of fire are less effective. Their shorter length also means less head dissipation and diminished barrel life.

  • @Rotard12a but this cannon weighs in more than a ton? 6-30 only about 300kg

i'm just saying gsh- 6-30 is faster ,smaller and lighter

and in the mig 27, it's cannon isn't the primary weapon ...in the A-10 the cannon is the primary weapon

  • @jkremlin Weight cited for the GAU includes every operating component plus max load ammunition (which is half the weight) minus the power source.

The weight you're claiming for the 6-30 includes the barrels, firing assembly and solenoid. None of the feeding mechanism, none of the ammunition container, none of the limited amunition, none of "belt".

By the way, nothing wrong with a normal MiG-27, but the few hand-me-downs with 6-30's are in fact outfitted with them as their primary weapon.

  • @Rotard12a okey okey.. you like the GAU 8 and i like the GSH-30 better.

Guess we have different opinions about these 2 guns :)

  • @jkremlin Your opinion just sucks because, all number clearly state which one is superior.

It is not about opinion , it is about fact.

    GAU8

    faster rate of fire

    faster muzzle velocity

    bigger round

    more accurate.

Not to mention that the A10 carries 4 times more ammo than either the Mig27 or the SU25.

It don't matter which one you like more the GAU8 is better(period).

  • @ps92117 nah dude...1 of your facts is completely wrong > soviet gsh is faster*, it is the fastest gatling gun.plus it's lighter and smaller .and the soviet round is heavier . so i say gsh is better .......(period)

and as i said ,the cannon is the A10's primary weapon , in the mig it isn't ,,,so no harm about ammo

  • @jkremlin GAU8 Rate of fire: 4200 rpm Projectile weight: 15 oz Muzzle velocity: 1070 m/s rounds per flight 1200 GSH 6-30 Rate of fire: 4000 rpm Projectile weight: 13 oz Muzzle velocity: 845 m/s rounds per flight 300 Irregardless of what is the main weapon the A10 carries twice as much ordinance as the su25 and mig27. Fact A10 is better this not disputable.
  • @ps92117 and where did you get these facts from actually ? bcuz everyone knows gsh is the fastest gatling gun

  • @ps92117 oh and im talking about the gsh-6-30

  • @ps92117 gsh-6-23 10000rpm

  • @jkremlin Ok so we will compare the GAU8 and the GSH 6-23

    Rate o fire: GSH 6-23(10,000rpm) GAU8(4200rpm)

Muzzle velocity: GAU 8(1,070m/s) GSH 6-23(715m/s)

    Projectile weight: GAU 8 (15oz) GSH 6-23 (6.2oz)

    Rounds per flight: GAU8(1070) GSH 6-23 (260)

    You can not debate this.

  • @ps92117 ok,first of all..The projectile weight and Rounds per flight has nothing to do with the cannon..they are 2 characteristics of the projectile and the aircraft .

    Rate o fire: gsh6-23( 10,000rpm ) GAU8( 4200rpm )

    Weight : gsh6-23( 76kg ) GAU8( 281kg )

    Length : gsh6-23( 1.4m ) GAU8( 2.3m )

    Action : gsh6-23( gasoperated ) GAU8( electric )

--------------[gas operated systems use less power / barrel spin accelerates faster]

    gsh6-23 <<< faster, lighter ,smaller

  • @jkremlin So now smaller machine gun, smaller caliber, and smaller barrel length some how are superior qualities.

Might as well attach a Metal Storm Bretha to the a10 and call it a day after all that is like 1/10 the size of a GSH 6-23 and can fire at a rate of 1.62 million rounds per minute.

The truth is that is not the case, in the world of anti-tank CAS bigger=better.

Why not just attach a few uzis to the aircraft lol.

  • @ps92117 i never tried to say which gun is better. if you look at my first comment i posted ,i just said the gsh's rate of fire is greater .you only tried to tell GAU8 is better.you can't say which is better as BloodyMcHaggis said, because these two guns are used in totally different ways.I'm saying the gsh, being much smaller and much lighter is capable of surpassing the gau8's rate'o fire of 4200rpm

and the entire length of gsh is less than the gau8's barrel only ,but still it can fire > 4200

  • all my tax money goes on that are you kiding me

im now paying double the tax rate

  • shove that up the taliban's arse.

  • it cost 400000 dollars to fire this weapon....for twelve seconds

  • @pombenenge probably

  • @fearoftheboxer I think its more xD

  • awesome, but will it blend?

  • @fortran97 Anything it's pointed at actually.

  • @fortran97 It will blend anything you shoot at XD

  • @fortran97 Infact, this is what does the blending.

  • @fortran97 No, it blend you.

  • I have an idea, we make a Gatling gun, and the barrels are made out of gau-8's

  • Gatlin and Browning both demonstrated their prototype machine guns for Colt in the late 1890's.

It was the first time ever Browning had seen a Gatlin gun. He referred to it as "a primitive design" due to it's lack of gas operation, a revolutionary feature pioneered by Browning during the same time. Colt and the Army adopted the Browning design, the M1895, which was highly successful in WWI.

As this video illustrates, the Gatlin design has a great niche in aircraft armament.

  • time to kick some ass

  • Chuck Norris? Who the fuck is he?

  • impulse_101

  • Pull trigger, bye bye everything in front of you.

  • I wonder if they realize the only reason that the GAU8 or any Gatling gun for that matter spins is to cool the barrels down

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy - TRUE it does help cool , but it also allows any defective ammo ( bullets that didn't fire) to be ejected because it is not a gas operated.

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy

Nope, you're the only one. The rest of us retards simply assumed it was to have one feeding mechanism instead of 6 or more.......

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy Cooling from spin is but a byproduct of the mechanical operation of the design. Non-Gatlin full-auto designs can withstand sustained fire at a rate of around 600-800rpm, and not for that long, before the barrel is heat-damaged. Most light MG's feature quick-change barrels for this reason.

In a Gatlin rotary design, you have a firing rate of 3000rpm out of 6 (or more) rotating barrels, so no single barrel ever sees a firing rate above 500rpm.

  • @ramv36 (contd.) It is for this reason a Gatlin gun, such as a Minigun, can fire even 10's of thousands of rounds non-stop without damage or failure. Don't think about it as a single firearm, but 6 (or more) individual firearms, firing singly with high precision and synchronization.

The catch-22 is that it's weaknesses are an extension of it's strengths, mainly with 5 or more extra barrels, the weapon weighs several times more than a single-barrel design.

  • sounds like a quife

  • fuck gat i want a brrraaaatttt

  • this thing eats fucking gats for breakfast

  • i though larger than 20mm weapons, didnt have rifling but what the hell idc

  • @DrRaper

Even the 105mm tankcannon on the origuinal Abrams had rifling.

It has everything to do with stabilisation during the flight of the projectile.

Smaller calibres are simply to small for fins. But 120 mm tankrounds are fitted with fins, therefore its a smooth-bore canon. HE, KE and MZ munitions have fins.

  • That Tech is hot.

  • If someone could make a dubstep remix of the sound of the GAU firing, i'd make intense passionate love to them.

  • Stupid airplane... slow flight speed and limited ammo... One shot of a handheld missile, and its good bye to this multi million dollar piece of equipment.

Stupid propaganda for stupid sheep... Showing off, as if they are untouchable, as if they cant lose or die...

  • @ForPalestine2015 A ground attack aircraft almost always has low speed for accuracy, NO aircraft has unlimited ammo, unless you get your information from COD, and it's an jet powered fixed winged aircraft that can fly faster and higher than a shoulder fired AA missile can lock on to, that is, before the GAU-8 rips the enemy to ribbons.

  • @DiscoDude82

If a shoulder fired missile is not enough, then something bigger will work. In any case, nothing is eternal nothing is unlimited.

  • @ForPalestine2015 "something bigger" is not exactly the threat the a-10 was designed to withstand. While it still has much higher survivability than any other aircraft (+the pilot is covered by a titanium tub), "something bigger" will pose a high threat to any aircraft around. But remember, it's made for CAS, not SEAD, it can't carry HARMS and is relatively slow. You don't hunt sams with it, you get low and dirty while supporting the ground troops. You won't get her down with your ak47.

  • Well, you heard of that Iraqi farmer who managed to shoot down an apache with his WWII rifle? I bet he would shoot the space shuttle with his AK47 too...

Anyway, theoretical pondering will not get us closer to reality... The point is, there is a weapon to take down every plane easily, and my point also is, to dismiss the american military's propaganda about their own equipment and how dangerous they are, and how it affect the youth, brainwashing them to join the military eventually...

  • @ForPalestine2015

Must have been them heat seeking bullets.

  • @ForPalestine2015

This beast has seen combat and has operated in high-threat areas. It is not invincible, but heck, it is a proven weapon that works!

In other words, there's a reason why the enemy calls this plane "The Devil's Cross".

  • @ForPalestine2015

Yes, a shoulder fired rocket might destroy an A-10, but it's a lot more likely that the A-10, or the ground troops it is supporting, will kill the guy with the rocket launcher, and then the next guy with a rocket launcher, then the next. Besides, good luck aiming your one shot rocket at a target 3 or 4 kilos away at a 17.5 m X 4.5 M (generously) target closing at 300 knots while you're being shot at by 30 mm rounds and being overrun by tanks and infantry protected by the A-10

  • @appa609 To put it into perspective,,,If an A-10 has you "locked on",Your day is done,,,Cash in your chips, make sure all your papers are in order..Tonight,You're eating dirt....

  • The silent gun? I think you'll find its referred to as Azreal the angel of death..

  • Man, you could shit up a whole load of brown people with that badboy.

  • omg look at the size of the bullet.

Imagine a regular human taking a shot of it.Would be like an self-explosion

  • Dear Santa...

  • imagine if one of these beast ripped a 2 second burst at a fighter jet ( for you smartasses that like to prove your brains, i know that an a-10 wouldnt stand a chance against a fighter in a dogfight.im being hypathetical) lol

  • meh the chopper gun is 100 times better

  • In any modern war the A-10 would be rubbish.

Missiles are now far, far more effective than a gun in anti-tank roles.

  • @terrorfalc

However, the avenger is useful for a variety of targets and a 100round burst costs much less than one missile which can still miss occasionally.

  • @terrorfalc Missiles cost more than bullets dumbass.

  • They should call this gun Uncle Sam's Wet Fart cos it sounds like one.

  • @benjamiy831 I'm laughing through the whole video now, thanks! LMAO! I'll always think of it that way now.

  • @benjamiy831

Actually, the GAU8 is also known as "The fart of Satan" :)

  • @benjamiy831 Sounds more like a foghorn to me.

  • a whole new meaning to the phrase "goin' in for guns"

  • that isnt the sound of a minigun, thats the sound of about 5 motorcycles revving up at the same time!

  • Crazy - The USAF tried to scrap it 10+ yrs ago as it got shot down in every exercise. The Army kicked up a stink & threatened to put their own pilots in it. The USAF backed down to avoid setting the precedent of army pilots flying fixed wing.

It may be powerful & does exactly what it was designed to do (fly slow, big gun, etc.), but the role is obsolete. AH-64 hides better & F15/16 fly way above ground fire. Guard pilots fly it - why's that? Mmm let me guess.

  • I saw 1 of these at a firepower demo on Salisbury Plain when I was 8 years old. It was awe inspiring. Sadly the aircraft is obsolete as it is too slow and vulnerable to ground fire.

  • @drjamespotter What are you talking about? It's still widely used.

  • @drjamespotter It's tough... Real tough...

  • @drjamespotter If it's firing off its anti-tank missiles and 30mm cannon, who in their right mind is going to stay and fire back?

Besides, this flying tank can stay airborne with one engine and half a wing missing. I'm fairly certain it can take a few hits from ragheads on the ground.

  • The sound of that thing is awesome - talk about the Brown note! You'd shit your self through,

  • Two soldiers on the battlefield.

    Soldier 1: Did you fart?

    Soldier 2: I did not.

Soldier 3: Well there's gotta be something that fart-WAAGIOSIJRNIASEFJA;JNA;OEJBOOOOOOOOOM!

  • @FRURMELLL thats so fucking stupid. you get hit with the rounds BEFORE you hear them.

  • not really too concerned with SU-30MKK J-11 J-10 J-7 and J-20 on my side.

  • and we need an 11 kill streak to usd one

  • Those guns "eat" tanks for breakfest..

  • This needs to be in the next Heavy update.

  • it sound like a fart when they fire short rounds.

  • GAU 8 aka Giant Zipper 'O Death.

  • Hope the A10 Thunderbolt is in BF3 ,2 haha lOOL

  • You never hear the bullet that kills you... That is a true weapon of mass destruction...

  • I'd provide instant feedback to that technician.

Jokes aside, the gun doesn't actually sound like that. They're recording it with meh equipment from long distances.

  • this plane has the "sneez of death"

  • firing this thing sounds like giant fart xD

  • sounds like giant fart xD

  • This is Chuck Norris`s "toy gun"

  • I am heavy weapons pilot...

  • everyone who disliked this video is a terrorist who smuggled a computer in iraq and tried to steal America's tech. They're probably dead now. Suicide out of absolute fear...

  • Just the weapon to subjugate the Third World with! Nice one Amerika!

  • Comment removed

  • imagine this with explosive plutonium tipped ammo

  • @Coolnventions It's actually depleted uranium.

  • i dont think this was gatling's dream, he was a pacifist

  • This thing eats tanks for breakfast. Holly shit.

  • BRRRRRRRRP FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • those rounds are almost as big as my penis! :O

  • Oh...The secret is its "multiple barrels"? Really? I never would have guessed.....

Geez. What is this --- Guns 101?

  • considering its on a channel that doesnt appeal to just gun lovers, YES its literally guns 101 you fucking clod.

  • Awesome,luv it

  • Can anyone tell me what other countrys other than the US have those planes?

I live in israel and next to my school theres an air force base and sometimes i hear the exact same sound of explosions like the shooting of the A10

  • @togogot0 just the US dude if you hear that engine its either A: commerical planes they use the same engine or upgrades as the A-10 TF34 or B: visiting A-10s

  • That Airplane has a huge cock!

That's what my penis looks like

    =3

  • 0:08 Look at the first Chinese character on the captions. That looks weird as hell.

  • Gatling guns sound awesome

  • 40 people dont like sheer metal awesomeness
