Yes, this appears to be at the Old Lahaina Hula, in Lahaina. And if you go, they will very clearly announce that this is Tahitian ... their show encompasses a variety of styles from a variety of places, but they do try to keep it accurate.
Yes I agree with alot of the people at the bottom it's definitely Tahitian Otea! Hawaiian Hula has a lot more hand actions more than the shaking of their but.. Although the Tahitians do also do alot of this also they do a more "washing-machine" type dance where as the Hawaiians tend to where their traditional skirt. The Cook Islands dance pretty similar to the Tahitians they just don't have that awful sense of beat like the Tahitian drummers!
This is Not Hula, and for your information Hula Means dance .. so when you say Hula dance you're saying " dance dance" lol. Tahitians have many styles of Dance that is just the one most westerns like to see .
This is not the hula, this is tahitian dancing. Don`t promote this as the hula. Hula is an ancient form of HAWAIIAN movements done to the rythmic sounds of the ipu (gourd) and the pahu (drum). I know to a visitor it would seem like this is the hula because it is in Hawai`i but they are badly mistaken because there is a lack of knowledge!
