  • These guys were a MAJOR influence on us. Every song completely unique. Great instrumentation, of course. "Ducks on a Pond" was the first song I ever learned! Been trying to emulate them ever since. If you like them, check us out at "The Bairds" We have 7 videos up thus far. I saw Robin at the Bottom Line in NYC - they don't come any more creative.

  • @nagarjuna222able I used to go see Robin at the Bottom Line in the 70's and 80's. Last time was just after the release of Ten Of Songs, and I asked him to play "The Parting Glass" for his last tune. He played in with his Celtic Hat]rp and I was in tears. The room was silent. Glad to know we're all sill here, no-one has gone away! Loveout to ye!

  • A very great band.Mike and Robin are marvellous musiciens. And,I think,Robin is in the Guinest record for the most instruments he can play!!I'm a FAN!!

  • What was so good about them was that they seemed to play because they enjoyed playing not because it was a performance. That rubbed off on the audience - watching them was a joy.

  • Extraordinary! Rose on organ and Mike on bass- I didn't expect that- but what a great version of a song Mike still dusts down, from time to time.

  • Those were the days !

    Really a magic decade.

Everyone was positve, creative and loving. Now we just have the memories

  • What year is this? 1970 perhaps ?

  • @vonroon23

Check out the heavy rock version (also 1970) of the ISB's "Maybe Someday" by legendary rock band (also from Edinburgh) HUMAN BEAST. Google away!

  • This is "Everything is fine right now" by Mike Heron, 1966.

Beautiful to see them live !

  • There had never been anything like them before, and there hasn't been anything like them since. A wonderful group of minstrels. Thanks for many happy times.

  • judging by this & their entire library of music & records...this could just about be the most important band in the history of musical culture, as we know it.

  • What is the name of this song, please ? Thank you ! :)

  • @ray59145 This song is called "Everything is fine right now" by Mike Heron.

And I think is on their first album from 1966.

  • What a charming, effervescent work, featuring a nice harmonic build up, leading to delightful vocal-driven, multilayered melodies and more timbres.

  • A great great great band. Wonderful movie, thanks!

  • love the one arm resting on the hip while the other arm plays the keys. the frantic bass and mandolin are nice. I've always loved the looseness of ISB--they're not polished, and always sound a bit off--but that goes with the wild drunkenness of their sound. it feels live and authentic even on recordings-

  • Beautiful and wonderful

  • the granule is kinnda right .. sorry to say .the guy is a little off.. not way off or anything but off .. i guess that's what you get for folk music.

  • This is VERY VERY special!!!

  • This is the live version of Everything's Fine Right Now that they used to play when I went to see them at The Galleries, Glasgow. There is a very somilar song they used to perform live called Won't You Come See Me. The original is a bit more folksy and slower. The songs that drove us wild there were Lady Wonder and Weather the Storm (much better than recorded version). For me the golden time was when the band comprised Robin, Mike, Rose and Licorice.

  • Hello!

I'm just getting into this INCREDIBLE band, I love them... So far I've only bought The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, so naturally I dunno this song... Can anyone tell me its name, please? I love it so much, I want to play it on my bass and sing it.

  • It's called 'Everything's fine right now' and it's from the 1966 album Incredible String Band. They were a 3 piece, Robin, Mike and Clive Palmer at the time and there are some gems on it If you are just getting into them, persevere, they are well worth it.

  • yes, a great band...met Clive in London (suburb) in 1974 while hitching thru Europe and saw ISB in Boston '71 and went to a party afterwards in some large colonial style house in Cambridge...where else did I see them?

Oh Woodstock '69...and Holy shit I forgot...but also saw them with the KInks...and at the Hammersmith with BeBop Deluxe, Fairport Convention, Gong, 10CC and..???? thanks great

  • @xrcjpx WOW.... Gong and ISB together. That would BLOW MY MIND.

  • @xrcjpx i saw them for the first time walking towards the folk boat an event on the waverley on the clyde.

i spotted them carrying their instruments and turned to my girlfriend and commented "i should have brought my guitar! how sad

  • Absolutely, well, INCREDIBLE!! Thanks for posting this!

  • yes, this is a pretty great example of how they could reinvent a song that was already really good - a thing they did many times live, but not always with this kind of success, and liqorice is especially good on this - martin.

  • They were right to chose that name. Just incredible !

  • amazing to find this on here !!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

  • FUCKIN INCREDIBLE! God I love them! : D

  • Not called the Incredibles for nothing

    Andi

  • This is the Band at its zenith, with Rose and Likky. I saw them around this time in Manchester - best concert ever.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Mike and Robin both look incredibly happy then, I remember seeing them around 1969/70,performing songs from I Looked up

  • This is from the very first album, the eponymous "Incredible String Band", when Clive Palmer was still with them. I like this version much better - the band was really at its best when Rose and Licorice were part of it, as here. Thanks so much for posting this. :-)

  • Which album was this originally released on?

  • Absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this! There's such a dearth of ISB footage from this period--this is such a vibrant example of why they were so special!

  • Truly incredible to discover this posted - the late 60's configuration of the ISB with Rose Simpson and the lovely etherial Licorice McKechnie. I hope that some more good footage from this era exists and will surface in future. Thanks for posting - you made my day!!

  • best thing ever. euphoric.
