They were great but their timing was bad. If they had been a few years earlier they would have eclipsed groups like Cheap Trick and Foghat. If they had come after all the new wave hair bands, they would have been a breath of fresh air. As it was they came along got lost behind all the punk (which I also like) rock.
@meatgoth actually, they are comparable to the Beatles, certainly not popularity or record wise, but vocally...Glenn sounds just like Paul in the early days, as Chris sounds like John. Squeeze was heavily influenced by the Beatles too.
reminds me of being a young teenager c1980's . fantastic music and lyrics. whenever i see it on a jukebox i put it on, it's surprising how many people don't know it but then everyone starts putting it on
I'm pretty sure that the fur coat lyric is included on the album version, not sure why they would choose that over the single though. Nice to see this vid.
Worked backstage with the band at The Ritz Ballroom in NYC a few times late 70's - early 80's. The band and their mates were just grand and a blast to work for before and after shows.

Glenn Tillbrook - the man is a musical genius and sadly underated. Every one of his songs has meaning.

@moaardeeb Chris Difford actually writes the lyrics, the meanings come from him.
Glenn writes great music but Chris writes brilliant lyrics.
