I do agree with the comment(s) that there IS chemistry between P. Barone and P. Toscano's duet: "La Luna Hizo Esto." The management picked the right IL VOLO member to sing with P. Toscano ... however ... G. Ginoble or I. Boschetto would also have sung and interacted beautifully with her. Of course, there is always the expression, "to each his own."

@GerRoland I feel there are a couple of reasons to keep Gianluca on stage. One is that his team respects his shyness and he is more comfortable there. The other might be for security reasons. His astonishing good looks might cause over anxious females to grab at him. It would be like sending Elivs down into the audience. It does make for a better balance though.

All I can say is listening and watching them perform brings shear joy to the audience. This video is just one of the 13 tracks on the IL VOLO DVD called "IL VOLO Takes Flight - at the Detroit Opera House". This was done on Oct 27 in Detroit. Detroit is the PBS sponsor for IL VOLO... so that, and the fact that you can't get any more Italian (on this side of the Atlantic) than at the (1922 built) Detroit Opera House.. it makes for the perfect place to create IL VOLO's first DVD. 3/4 of the DVD was shown in Detroit on Dec. 7, and will be shown everywhere on March 3, 2012. Enjoy!!

The PBS televised concert in March will likely show about 3/4 of the DVD, just like they did in Detroit. My biggest disappointment was that Hasta el final was not in the concert/DVD. It's one of my favorite song of theirs.
@GerRoland Thank you for the info. I have their two CDs and would love to have DVDs of their concerts. I know there is a chance that YouTube could/would remove them which would be a tremendous loss. I could listen/watch them 24/7! Such voices and looks with personalities to match! I'm definitely in love. LOL
What beautiful voices. Pia blends in perfectly with the group. She's a beautiful girl. but she gets competition in the looks department from Gianluca & Ignazio. As always, Piero is a voice powerhouse.

By the same token Gianluca is especially standoff-ish (maybe he's worried Jessica will get mad). Ignazio comes across as the perfect middle ground in this regard... although on one of the Spanish songs where he and Piero were each dancing with a girl... it cost Ignazio his girlfriend back in Italy. @GerRoland Maybe management has encouraged/instructed Piero to act that way. They probably think Piero & Pia sound & look great together. Well, they do but a vital ingredient is missing - the chemistry (I'll probably be raked over the coals for saying that). Gianluca is probably considered to young to cuddle up with an "older woman", therefore, it's hands off. With Ignazio management is neutral, although, like it or not, he's the one who ignites the spark with Pia.

@GerRoland Il Volo is an investment mgmt does not intend to lose $ on. Sometimes even their interviews are choreographed in conjunction with mgmt wishes. Believe they prefer G remain on stage. Maybe they feel extroverts P&I interact better with the audience. Nazio lost lbs. because he was asked to. As soon as they realized he was popular with females he was in for an image makeover. What happened to Funnyman? He's gone. If they didn't like G's hairstyle, he wouldn't be wearing it.
@SpaghettiGirl1982 Funnyman is here, you just didn't see him in the Concert DVD videos. I was at the 3 hour concert taping, they edited out a lot of Ignazio's funny antics, many of which were between takes anyway. The guys felt real comfortable doing this DVD in front of us, since it was as though IL Volo AND the audience were performing for the DVD. So this made them very at ease, laid back, and funny!
I think that mgmt wanted a bit more serious of a Concert DVD. But there is some humor...

I think here there are two things: the natural Italian character and the expectation of the American audience. The production is very careful in balancing those two things. I am Italian, living in Italy, and I don't see anything "over the top". They are clearly following a script, everything has been planned in advance, regarding the performance. But what I see is normal in Italian tv shows. It is not flirting, just being romantic for the audience! They are acting...
I am not sure to have undestood your answer, sorry, the problem with foreign languages is that jokes are the most difficult thing to master... anyway, what I meant is that the Italian national character may seem "exaggerated", "excessive" in a different cultural perspective. Those boys are born and raised in a culture in which hugging, kissing and touching is normal, so I imagine that they were told to restrain themselves in order to not to shock the american audience.

This is truly an amazing video...I love hearing Gianluca speak so elegantly at the start..Pia sounds great with the boys. They all sing very very well with her. This is only 1 of 4 IL VOLO CONCERT DVD videos that elsiegrace4 is nice to share with everyone. These 4 High Definition songs are:

All I can say is listening and watching them perform brings shear joy to the audience. It seems that there is love all around them, unbelievable . they have brought back something that i thought was gone forever! Just watching these videos brings up my spirit and i can regain hope for this upcoming generation, that seemed lost to rap and other trashy entertainment. We suddenly have real quality again. Thank God

Being 70 yrs old and followed music since the 50's,after listening and watching the progress that Pia Toscano has made, you young people can take it from me that Pia Toscano is THE BEST talent to hit the music world since the 1950's.Along with her angelic voice,she has the looks, she has great family and moral values,she exemplifies the meaning of following the American Dream, and will be a terrific role model for all young people to follow.

This video is just one of the 13 tracks on the IL VOLO DVD called "IL VOLO Takes Flight - at the Detroit Opera House". This was done on Oct 27 in Detroit. Detroit is the PBS sponsor for IL VOLO... so that, and the fact that you can't get any more Italian (on this side of the Atlantic) than at the (1922 built) Detroit Opera House.. it makes for the perfect place to create IL VOLO's first DVD. 3/4 of the DVD was shown in Detroit on Dec. 7, and will be shown everywhere on March 3, 2012. Enjoy!!

@bkkelly52 Barbara, I would say YES... but not before PBS has their national pledge drive showcasing IL VOLO on March 3, 2012. Looooong wait. :-(
The PBS televised concert in March will likely show about 3/4 of the DVD, just like they did in Detroit. My biggest disappointment was that Hasta el final was not in the concert/DVD. It's one of my favorite song of theirs.

@GerRoland Thank you for the info. I have their two CDs and would love to have DVDs of their concerts. I know there is a chance that YouTube could/would remove them which would be a tremendous loss. I could listen/watch them 24/7! Such voices and looks with personalities to match! I'm definitely in love. LOL

What beautiful voices. Pia blends in perfectly with the group. She's a beautiful girl. but she gets competition in the looks department from Gianluca & Ignazio. As always, Piero is a voice powerhouse.

@4849lucky "what's wrong with Piero's looks?" Answer: Nothing. As I've written over & over again on these boards. I think he's dramatically handsome with his classical Roman nose & beautiful mouth. All three of them have stunning good looks & magnificent voices. I'll leave it at that because to attempt to explain a remark sometimes leads to further misunderstanding.

@SpaghettiGirl1982 Hi there... I was watching the Pia Toscano song again... and Piero comes across sometimes as a bit "over the top" on his "handling of the ladies". By the same token Gianluca is especially standoff-ish (maybe he's worried Jessica will get mad). Ignazio comes across as the perfect middle ground in this regard... although on one of the Spanish songs where he and Piero were each dancing with a girl... it cost Ignazio his girlfriend back in Italy. What do you think?

@GerRoland Maybe management has encouraged/instructed Piero to act that way. They probably think Piero & Pia sound & look great together. Well, they do but a vital ingredient is missing - the chemistry (I'll probably be raked over the coals for saying that). Gianluca is probably considered to young to cuddle up with an "older woman", therefore, it's hands off. With Ignazio management is neutral, although, like it or not, he's the one who ignites the spark with Pia.

It's the other things I wonder about... such as why Gianluca rarely leaves the stage? @GerRoland Il Volo is an investment mgmt does not intend to lose $ on. Sometimes even their interviews are choreographed in conjunction with mgmt wishes. Believe they prefer G remain on stage. Maybe they feel extroverts P&I interact better with the audience. Nazio lost lbs. because he was asked to. As soon as they realized he was popular with females he was in for an image makeover. What happened to Funnyman? He's gone. If they didn't like G's hairstyle, he wouldn't be wearing it.

@SpaghettiGirl1982 Funnyman is here, you just didn't see him in the Concert DVD videos. I was at the 3 hour concert taping, they edited out a lot of Ignazio's funny antics, many of which were between takes anyway. The guys felt real comfortable doing this DVD in front of us, since it was as though IL Volo AND the audience were performing for the DVD. So this made them very at ease, laid back, and funny!
I think that mgmt wanted a bit more serious of a Concert DVD. But there is some humor...

@SpaghettiGirl1982 I think Piero looks cute and the best looking of the three. He is the most popular in Asia. He has cute manga features and very harry potter-ish. Everyone has different taste. I dont find Ignazio attractive, he has nice features but kinda burly looking. I did met them in real life in Spore so I know what they looked like in real life.

He's definitely popular in Indonesia and Malaysia. Pls dont get me wrong, I like il volo and i like all 3 boys but for me, Piero is the most attractive.

@SpaghettiGirl1982 Piero is a bit silly and childish, its his character. In Spore, he is the most animated and even tried to speak chinese. Iggie is charming but i think he attracts older ladies as he looks older than his age and quite hairy. While gian is classically handsome in Italian way. He said he likes totti the soccer player, they kinda similar in looks.

Just because Piero wears glasses doesn't mean he looks like Harry Potter - & certainly he doesn't look like the actor who portrayed Potter. Handsome Piero has a long, slender face with a Roman nose, Daniel R. has a round face & a small tilted nose. Yes, I've seen them in person & you're right Piero does look the youngest & Ignazio could pass for a man of 21 or 22, thus attracting "older women."

I like the geek chic look and the boy wore a scarf in the meet and greet. I think here there are two things: the natural Italian character and the expectation of the American audience. The production is very careful in balancing those two things. I am Italian, living in Italy, and I don't see anything "over the top". They are clearly following a script, everything has been planned in advance, regarding the performance. But what I see is normal in Italian tv shows. It is not flirting, just being romantic for the audience! They are acting...

I am not sure to have undestood your answer, sorry, the problem with foreign languages is that jokes are the most difficult thing to master... anyway, what I meant is that the Italian national character may seem "exaggerated", "excessive" in a different cultural perspective. Those boys are born and raised in a culture in which hugging, kissing and touching is normal, so I imagine that they were told to restrain themselves in order to not to shock the american audience.

@Bradamante68 Sorry, no I was not making a joke... only saying that most of us non-Italians know that Italians are much more "affectionate" and outgoing. I was only saying that hugging, kissing and touching is not often found in Americans or Germans. :-)
But we find it nice that the Italians show such affections. If you do a Youtube search on "IL VOLO Toronto Finiculi Finicula", you will see a song where a young boy is brought on stage, and Gianluca shows us his "Italian" side... very nice!!

This is truly an amazing video...I love hearing Gianluca speak so elegantly at the start..Pia sounds great with the boys. They all sing very very well with her. I can watch this video a million times...The boys all look so great..Ignazio really sounds awesome. I just can't say enough good things about this video...love love love it...
