Older than some for sure, but with no solid home I her own and being sucked into a major career so quickly at that young age leaves a person ripe for exploitation and exposure to things that are harmful. She basically had to raise herself. Thing of Beauty by Stephen Fried capture a complicated lonely life.

She could have gotten AIDS from sharing needles but dont forget not only was she raped but sold herself when she didnt have anything else to sell for drugs. She did steal from family and friends to get the heroin. Addictions make people do what they wouldnt do normally.
