Brilliant. A white whale for Smith to achieve an albumn version live, but it doesn't matter...the soul is still there, the heart. No matter the interpretation, it is sheer geneious plain an simple. For those that this song is a favorite, no live version is the same...but it is. Outstanding.
@antifundi, i am 44 years old now, was almost at the beginning a fan of the cue and still am but they started as a new wave band, the demo's were like postpunk yes and nowerdays they are just the cure, they dont fit in any kinda music anymore in my eyes and ears...they are my religion, still....glad you didnt write they are goth ;-)
This song has so much power in it!! and the lyrics are perfect for someone who you loved so deeply and just ripped your heart out of your chest. This song is amazing!! The Kiss me album is perfection!! The Cure forever!! ♥♥♥ :)
@wookie37 I agree its semantic. Soundgarden is hard rock but to some people it is tame compared to what is out there. make music yourself good people and get into your own grove -- we all have the POWER to make great music.
Freaking Robert Smith rips! Song is almost too intense, like I've gotta be in a certain place for it...but yeah, incredible. Listening to The Cure again after my late 80's jag, they are so great.
can somebody break cooper´s arms, please? i couldn´t even finish listening to my beloved song, that´s how annoying his tsss-tsss-tsss is! learn how to play hi-hat or leave you dick!!!
Isn't this a Barry Manilow song? Just kidding, wouldn't that be funny? Seriously though, great song...and back off Jason, he's a top drummer in my book!
The guitars, his voice, the lyrics... Fucking tortured. It's like screaming and crying and driving your car right off the edge of a cliff.... and screaming in anger all the way down.
well ill speak english lol I LOVE THIS SONG EVEN LIVE LIKE A DECADE LATER they still play it badass THE CURE Is just a Unexplainable Band of their Sound and Talent thats why their CAlled THE CURE cause its just that it lives up to Its NAME I LOVE U ROBERT AND SIMON
The Cure are a special band that appeals to special people and Robert as a guitarist is so under rated that it makes me scream. Without bands like The Cure, there would be no me, there would be no great minds like Robert. The Cure are so many things that so many people want to be.... such greatness, i would die for them.
i agree with you about smith's underrated guitar work. i've tried to play a lot of their songs, looking up tabs and shit, and his guitar style is very unique and surprisingly complex.
You have got company! Robert is my favourite guitarist too. Also, he is a unique guitarist and I have never heard anyone play the guitar in the way he does!
Indeed. Rob is so gifted & unrated. A couple of years ago on Billboard or Rolling Stone (I forget) they had an issue naming their Top 100 Guitarist of all time & Rob was robbed of any mention. Needless to say, I never bought the damn mag again. No loss to me when I know what an extremely gifted & creative guitarist he really is.
Forget about all those ignorant statements made in magazines such as "The Greatest Guitarist" in the world. If you go by all those ratings you are highly unlikely to find Robert mentioned anywhere. Who needs all those fake accolades, anyway? The Cure's music touches so many people and that itself is a testimony to the fact that Robert is a magnificent guitarist. The Cure is a special band that appeals to special people. That's more than enough.
IMHO The Police, U2 and Nirvana are better than Radiohead. Pink Floyd's The Wall is better than Radiohead. Peter Gabriel is way better than Radiohead and bests The Cure. R.E.M, The Clash and Dire Straits at least as good as Radiohead. But I agree that The Cure shines on its own. Great great song
I agree w/u...maybe..You mentioned those bands, and all of them have more than 30 yrs.(except Nirvana) R.E.M.:...hmm..they are good...Definetely I like the variety and quality of your choices...See my playlists, I, myself like all of them
Thx. REM 1980, Dire Straits 1977, The Clash 1976, U2 1976, The Police 1977, The Wall 1979, The Cure 1978, most of Gabriel's production ist also from that tomeso I really wasn't off the wall. RadioHead much more recent... But I can't find much more besides them and Nirvana... We'd have to start looking into other genres to find good stuff. I like Black Eyes Peas, Eminem, some of the Bjôrk stuff and some other female soloists out there doing nice stuff. Ah, and there's Rage against the Machine!
he's never really recognized for his guitar playin (robert) but instead hes recognized ofr the lipstick and the hair... but he really should be recognized WAY more for his guitar playing
He is not a virtuoso. But he got feeeeeling.....some (a lot ) of painfull (expresivness) of I don't what ...fuck something that makes him GREAt (to my humble standards) DUDE!! U R D BEST!!! I hope to c u again......CURE x ever
That's great... what a kiss then... sick as only the cure can be. Robert was playing nearer to the original version in Berlin or somewhere else but this is good tooo. Yesssssssss.

what a fuck are you crazy greg0058 ? hard rock ?
you should learn somthing about music and the first lesson i give you is that the cure is not hard rock, and the other too.
the cure at the beginning was a post punk / dark wave band and later on gos mor to an alternative / rock band.
