  • USMC Cool!

  • Trying to reach Frank G Gross....the author of this wonderful song...your sister Florece is trying to you locate you....your niece Cindy.

  • my grandpa was their as an attached army unit and he was one of a few in his unit that survived. It aggravated me that the army is forgotten in this battle even though it was a small unit attached to them.

  • @Flexn0612 there*

  • My respects to US Army 7th ID, especially 31RCT, 3rd ID, ROK Army, Brits, and 1st MD. You will not be forgotten.

  • chinese much heavier casualties from the firepower and the weather

  • South Korea has their own Marines and they love their counterparts in the U.S..I met up with a couple in S.Vietnam. True Marines..

  • Did Puller fight in this?

  • @hairyknuckles1000 Yes, He fought as the CO of the 1st Marines that held Koto-ri and stretches of the MSR.

  • Because of the US Marines, US Army & UN forces, the people of South Korea are enjoying freedom. Americans sacrificed their lives so the people of another country could be free. Without our soldiers we ourselves would not be free. For the people that criticize our soldiers, don't like America or what we stand for... you are FREE to get the hell out & go live in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Libya, etc.

  • @Spiritsrwe shut up dumb ass and stop believing everything you see on propaganda CNN...you ever been to libya iran or china? I have. the south koreans are no more free then the north koreans

  • @tariqziyad

So the South Koreans can't leave ????

    When did that happen

  • @CSATexan north koreans live in libya and other places...

  • @tariqziyad dont be jealous that his comment got thumbs up

  • I dont understand why the chinese consider this battle an honor. They did not acheive any of their objectives

  • you chinese might have technically won the battle but you got your asses kicked by the marines and even the army

  • @TheSteffen1223 they created a buffer zone- north korea. that's all they cared about.

  • @TheSteffen1223

I show full respect to those American marines in that war for their brave heart. However, for you stuipid foolish... Go to check the real documents, US army got more than 1w battle casualties and lost their position, is this the way for you to kick the ass of you enemy?

  • @libaosheng8601 every chinese division was either destroyed or never saw action for a long time.

  • marines are our spartans

  • They should do a video game about this

  • @TheSteffen1223 They should make a Call of Duty game set in World War One or Korea. Even though you never fight in it they mention the Korean War at least five times in Black Ops. Hopefully, if Josh Olin delivers on his promise and we actually get some campaign mode DLC, we might see the Korean War in flashbacks or something.

  • Semper Fidelis Marines and fuck you if have anything to say against my beloved Corps. Or better yet say it a Marine's face.

  • @nyquildays Hell Ya! and thank you for your servvice to this country it means a lot. I think others are just a little jealous is all.

  • THE SWEDES INVENTED COWARDNESS AS THEY WATCHED LITERALLY MILLIONS OF JEWS MURDERED BY THE GERMANS!

ALSO THE ONLY 20 THOUSAND MARINES PUT A GOOD OL'FASHION ASS WHOOPING ON THOSE CHINESE AND THAT CAN NOT BE DISPUTED AS HISTORY HAS SPOKEN!

  • @vilhelmmoberg1973 You are nothing more than a pathetic communist but thats ok because there will soon be an uprising in China......its boiling now as the Chinese people want freedom and its coming! They have tasted capitalism and like having meat for the first time they want more!!! Communism and Socialism does not work!

  • @caseyshattuck I'm a communist?? Guess again, fool. It's also funny you mentioned Jews earlier. The US govt is being hijacked by Zionists and the Bilderberg group. The US (taxpayers actually) are 14 trillions in debt while their politicians and bankers profit from war profiteering while their sheeple finance their dirty wars like the ones in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

  • @vilhelmmoberg1973 Bottom line those 20 thousand Marines against all odds killed over 35 thousand Chinese and fought their way out of an encirclement that surely SHOULD have been a route!

  • @caseyshattuck Your comment about the number of PLAs killed typifies your ignorance of Chinese war philosophy. The US govt didn't learn it till the end of their Vietnam failure. The Chinese do NOT view war as attrition, but total warfare! That's why the US clamped down on war TV reporting after Vietnam. They've sanitized war to make it more justified otherwise people could see the truth and protest! Look up Art of War.

  • @caseyshattuck The Chinese fought in Korea because they were plundered for 109 years since the mid 1800's by much of Europe, US and Japan. Got that? They saw UN (led by US and UK) as a symbol of foreign aggression reminiscent of the Opium Wars. Look up the history leading up to this war. Blame it on the Japanese!!!!

  • @mramericrap It's humbling if people could see this war from the Chinese perspective. I don't understand the language, but seeing the footage of how they had to carry equipment on their backs, and using oxen and mules when UN troops had trucks, planes and ships was eye-opening.

  • @vilhelmmoberg1973 Whats even more humbling is knowing that because of the superior odds 120 thousand chinese against 20 thousand Marines these Marines prevailed and saved a country that would otherwise be starving like NKorea is now!

  • America is never going to invade North Korea. Period.

  • @Phead128 America wont need to invade we can just bomb the shit out of it or let it rot from the inside out which is what is happening as we speak! I hope N.Korea invades S.Korea so American can simply push a button and eliminate N.Korea and its SHEEPLE

  • @cnnndcnn Please tell us all Mr Knowitall...where is this casualty change you speak of? And it is very true that 40,000 were killed, three whole Chinese divisions were beaten so badly they were withdrawn and never able to fight again and four other divisions were beaten to the point of being non-combat effective.

First blood and second blood were fantasy, Black Hawk Down is based on fact.

  • @cnnndcnn Well you go right ahead and believe your revised history. Make up whatever you want. I think it is very telling how ignorant you are of the truth just like you think the Chinese had it colder than the Marines. The Chinese fought very hard and very well, there is no doubt of that, and you do them a great disrespect by trying to change the truth. The Chinese failed to accomplish Phase Three of their plan and got severely hammered during Phase Two. That is the fact.

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn Again you doubt me. First it is the Taebak Mountains. And you are correct that the forces on the west side of NK were stronger than at the Chosin. That has no bearing here since the 8th Army in the west was considerably larger and stronger than the X Corps. Do you really think that Marine weapons worked better in the cold than the Chines weapons? Really? You may have read one book on it, I have read 9 just on the Chosin battle and maybe 20 on the Korean War. Con't

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn con't... I have spoken to Marines that fought there and read books written by men that fought there. I know what I am speaking about. The Chinese troops on the east side of NK fought well with what they had, but they were sent to a slaughter. Troops in the open vs air power is foolish, troops with sneakers in the cold is foolish, human wave attacks against Marines is foolish. Do you really think that the Chinese could have destroyed the 1st MarDiv at Hagaru-ri?? That's foolish.

  • @cnnndcnn Again, you are wrong. The movie clearly shows the correct number of KIA which is 18, and never mentions a specific number of "skinnies" killed. Keep trying.

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn I am truly sorry that you continue to doubt me. Do you think I chase down the misinformation on YT for plain fun? The death of well over 1,000 somalis is quite believable. The troops that fought the battle have stated that the somali casualties were exceedingly high for two reasons...the were untrained gun hacks and they were high on khat. Had they been a trained force the Army would have needed many more body bags. Search for the guys that fought there and you will find the truth.

  • "China could have been dust but for the grace of God. I mean wow, that is a good statement. " I quote by caseyshattuck. please think before you write, but I dont blame this person due to you are so honest. so let me say something, United State deserves 9 11, for the grace of God the third airplane didn't get the target. United Stated is Spared! that may makes me feel better but how about your feeling.

We have all witnessed the Chinese government brutality. Your government treats your people like animals with no civil rights.....Hell your animals have more rights than the people of China.

  • @cnnndcnn Just a point of clarity... the only weapons systems that the Chinese did not have that we did have was medium / heavy artillery and air power. They were very well equipped with rifles, sub-machine guns, light and heavy machine guns, light artillery and light and heavy mortars.

The Marines are never as well equipped as the Army, we just do better with what we have.

    Semper Fi !

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn Hmmm... by you statement and logic the Chinese are stupid. In your own words their weapons didn't work at night and they attacked at night. Attacking with non-working weapons sounds pretty stupid, don't you think. By the way the Chinese also attacked in the daytime and their weapons suffered just the same as others.

    Fool.

  • @cnnndcnn Please go check up the history books in the library before even speak. You are not even accurate about the number. And those POWs was not kidnapped. They have their freedom to go to both side as according to the agreements, But they would rather choose the free world rather than a crappy totalitarian tyranny which starve their people to death.

  • @cnnndcnn Youre a Moron!!! You need to drop the "Poppy Pipe" the Chinese had over 120 thousand troops and got their asses handed to them. My father fought the chineses at the Chosin and he said the Chinese surrendered through out the battle as they were wearing quilted uniforms! Tell me why 120 thousand Chinese couldnt beat 20 thousand Marines???

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn Bullshit! There were 20 thousand Marines at the Chosin! You are a liar but then again you are Chinese so what should we expect! All you Chinese know how to do is steal technology because youre so ignorant you cant develop anything thats worth a shit! Everything we get from China is shit! Your Chinese Army got the shit beat out of it and the WORLD knows the TRUTH!! You are right the Cold Weather helped the Marines because we are tough as nails and we fight in those conditions.

  • @cnnndcnn Incorrect again. I guess in your little mind that the Chinese fought in the cold and the X Corps had tropical weather to fight in. If you had read the books you describe you might know some better info but right now you are full of BS. Since you seem to know soooo much, how many Marines were evacuated due to frostbite and cold related injuries?

  • @cnnndcnn Please go do some research and stop dishonoring those fine men that fought at the Chosin. Your information is highly incorrect. If you wish, I can site the actual numbers, and info sources so that you may confirm. But then if you really gave a rats ass about the subject you would have read the correct history already.

    Semper Fi !

  • @cnnndcnn Here you are actually almost correct except for the unit count at the Chosin, the UN units numbered about 30,000 and the Chinese were something slightly over 240,000. I can sit references if necessary.

  • Comment removed

  • @cnnndcnn Actually I would never dishonor my brothers, and I have not over exaggerating anything. The primary forces at the Chosin were Marines and Chinese. The general ratio of 8:1 Chinese over Marines doesn't alter the fact that the Marines beat the living crap out of EVERY Chinese unit that they came across. Equal weather, terrain and purpose and still the Marines left two full divisions shattered and left three more combat ineffective.

  • @caseyshattuck You are absolutely right! Its tragic that although China as a country may become wealthy the people of china will not. The wealth is controlled by the pathetic communist that hand out money like children receive allowances. The only wealthy chinese are the ones that control the power but the sheeple of china are so brainwashed and stupid they just do what the N. Koreans do and "Praise their leaders like the brain dead they are". This "cnnndcnn" is a moron!

  • @cnnndcnn WOW!! Talk about making up faulty facts. Your numbers are wrong, your statement concerning air support is wrong, your statement concerning firepower is wrong and lastly your statement about the movement back to the sea is wrong. You are just making things up to please yourself or you are really ignorant of the facts.

    1. X Corps was the 1st MarDiv, the Army's 7th INf Div and the Armys 3rd Inf Div. The 3rd hardly saw any action as did most of the 7th, only the 31st and 32nd bns fought.

  • Bull the army was shot to pieces they did very little damage to the Chinese. You know

    very little about the Chosin.

  • Gives me another take on our Pansy-In-Chief, going around the world apologizing for America. Have you ever heard him use the words "Freedom" or "Liberty?" I've been listening, and he doesn't appear to hold those in high esteem. But how many times have you heard him say "Diplomacy?" And where has that gotten us? Iran? Chavez? Syria? Stomping our enemies is where respect for America came from. Outside these borders, the world sucks. I'm not the least bit interested in living like them.

  • Americunt's very own Stalingrad.

  • @493175001 you couldn't even do what these guys did you would have been the one surrendering. fuck you!

  • @493175001 And how do you come up with this?

  • "SEMPER FI"

no better friend no worst enemy!!!!

  • By the way. I admire the courage of the Marine. Semper fidelis! I am a Chinese from Hong Kong.

  • @Timothyloyalist Shameless !!

  • @steve200003 What do you mean by that?

  • Please don't leave racist comment here. Many of the Chinese soldiers who fought in this battle were KMT veteran. When they were defeated in the Chinese civil war, they became POWs of the Communists. Many of them actually fought shoulder in shoulder with the American in the WWII. They fought the American in Korea only because they were forced by the Communist to do so. I heard a story like a veteran were forced to the Korean Battlefield, otherwise the Communist will persecute his family.

  • @Timothyloyalist LIER!!

  • @steve200003 My father knows many Nationalist soldiers, some of them have been to Korea. Learn some history first.

  • @Timothyloyalist LIER!!

  • This battle was a failure for the communists. Their goal was to annilate the marines and instead got annilated by the marines.

  • dont forget the british who fought with you On 10 November 1950, 41 (Independent) Commando joined the advance in North Korea where they served with the United States Marine Corps; the second time the two had served together, the first being the Boxer Rebellion. During the Battle of Chosin Reservoir Lt. Col. Drysdale was given command of a 900 man unit of his own Commando, American, and South Korean forces called Task Force Drysdale.

  • @chetnik1982 Not forgoten, they fought well. Many perished in the attempt to breakthrough to Hagu-ri. Can't imagine the hardship they went through.

  • @chetnik1982 nice man, that is almost word-for-word from wikipedia.

  • @chetnik1982 My father fought at the Chosin and said the British Royal Marines were gallant and courageous and fought with incredible tenacity.

  • dont forget the british who fought with you On 10 November 1950, 41 (Independent) Commando joined the advance in North Korea where they served with the United States Marine Corps; the second time the two had served together, the first being the Boxer Rebellion. • My tribute to the brave and forgotten marines who fought at Chosin reservoir in North Korea.

  • It was the US army that was invading another country.

  • @FrankFantasy I take it you didn't do too well in history class.

It was the North Koreans who invaded the South. The US came at the request of South Korea to help. The US and South Korea were winning the war when "China" invaded.

While there was a US Army contingent on the east side of the resevoir that was anialated, it was mostly the marines at chosin that fought their way out.

  • @gerry301 I admit that DPRK invaded ROK in the first place, however, after the US troop pushed northwards over the 38th parallel north, it had entered the territory of DPRK and was invading another country. BTW, never make premature conclusion about whether other people have taken history classes or not, which only shows your ignorance.

  • @FrankFantasy LOL, OK, I take back my remark on your history class. However it can hardly be called an invasion of the DPRK when the DPRK started the war. The country of Korea was divided through political differences, the invasion by the DPRK was to unite the country. Why would it be wrong to fight back and cross the DMZ and carry the war to the north for the same reason?

  • @gerry301 The army unit inflicted horrible casualties on the chinese attacking them

  • @TheSteffen1223 Not sure if I understand which army unit you're talking about. There was the Brits, (task force drysdale) part of the US 27th inf who came in relief, as well as task force Faith on the east side of the resevouir that was decimated. All contributed to heavy casualties for the Chinese.
