I've traveled around China, from my recollections this city and it's tidal bore is inland. Right ! How can this area be seen as the center of Surfing in China. It's not even on the coast !!!! What about Hong Kong, Hainan Island, and don't forget about the Great waves on Taiwan.
Did you guys know that Gerard sports have somehow presented themselves as the governing body of Surfing in China to the International Surfing Association. How did that happen ? Something is seriously wrong here !

Bore surfing should not be about 'new marketplaces' and giving 'several US-based surf industry brands a chance to see their Chinese opportunity firsthand.' This is elitism in it's most sickening.
How will dedicated bore-surfers ever get a chance to surf this river now that commercial interests have a monopoly?
This is tidal bore surfing. It needs big money sponsors like it needs a hole in the head. These sponsors don't jump up to support tidal bore pioneers like Sergio Laus.,or act to protect threatened waves like the Severn Bore. No doubt we'll have to listen to one of your riders telling us they pioneered this wave (they didn't).
They could show their support by funding Sergio's mission to China, and by funding the UK bore riders'efforts to protect the Severn Bore.
