Im not gonna be mean or anything but ill give you some USEFUL ADVICE.
1) If you haven't got an unhooking mat find a good spot of grass to unhook the fish.
2) Do not drag a carp or put hands near the gills, if you put your hands in the gills you can cause the fish pain and can die.
3) The last thing i would worry about is my hook the first thing i would care for is to get the the fish back in the water as soon as possible.

Yes, it's true that not many Americans are raised to have any respect whatsoever for the common carp, but there are a few of us trying to change this. Euro-style carp fishing is getting bigger and bigger here in the states, we do what we can to set a good example with fish care, respect, etc.
Unfortunately, it is going to be a long time before the general public comes in line, but we're trying. Unfortunately, most Americans still see the common carp as something that should be extinct.
