  • yo dre my 10th grade year i couldnt dunk or grab rim i could touch it. i ran track and started hittin the weights im 6'1 160 now i can grab the rim easy with 2 steps but i jump off 2 feet i dont get high enough with 1 foot and i cant high enough with the ball in my hand to dunk.. can i get some advice

  • actually,..Air Up There from and! (and I agree) says that working on your upper body is the best wa to get a higher vertical,..legs are def gonna have to be in shape but sit ups, crunches, sunrisers, and back excersises help ALOT,..you have to THROW yourself in the air once your legs do the job...I did it in highschool,....got like and extra 8 inches in a semester...and I wasnt skinny lol

  • @MrPranksta95 Does it work yes it consist of a lot variation of jumping and basic bodybuilding(lower body), As far as injuries on less you are using heavy weight 50 plus lbs I can see why you would with a good warm up. In high school I did this 3 times a week with 20lbs and dunked a volleyball. I use to run about 5miles a week as well and weigh less than I do now though lol.

  • @Kryptonitee24 I did this with 10lbs db in each hand. 4x15-25 mid jumps, Side to side 4x20-30 total, High jumps 4x10-15 and Frog jumps 4x10-15 you should be feeling the burn finish the workout with calf raises. Along with a good warmup jump rope is good as well stretching. Sets and reps and rest will depend on you of course and how long you hold the DB key is to finish the workout. Helps on first step for the crossover and a higher jumper/rebounds.

  • @Kryptonitee24 Heavy squat to me work differently to jump higher you need explosive movement. If you play ball or work you can do this workout twice a week. I still remember when I blocked a guy in varsity and I wasn't even on a team just open gym and everyone notice my hand got up with the rim, I was surprised cause I only did the workout 2months prior.

    It should be called knee alert.. Its just alot of volume, You would be better off doing what he says and doing sprints maybe line jumps and do squats. The main thing is do what makes your legs stronger and quicker and practice your technique

    air alert is quitea a scam. basically, it tells you to some simple workouts as many times as you can, and it gets harder for every week. very injury prone program.

  • @MrWhitedunker i know your question was intended for dre, the man himself. But, i can tell you from personal experience using air alert, if you do the exercises exactly as the workout plan is mapped, you will achieve the results you are looking for. That means proper stretching, rest, and dieting included. I'll say it like this, i was dunking on week 4, clearly before the program was finished. So, really its what you put out, meaning dont just rely on the program to do everything for you.

  • hey dre, just letting you know you're helpin a lot of ppl out there. yesterday I tried out for Florida State bball team. I couldn't believe there were only like 6 ppl out of the whole school who had the balls to even try out. Your videos keep me motivated.

    I also need help, what's the best ways to condition for a game like experience? About 10 minute quarters, pickups have too much stoppage. any advice

  • I was inshape before I started playing basketball just hadn't been trying to jump really, my vert was like 18 inches I wasn't even touching the ring I was getting half way up the net... Now I'm doing all sorts of dunks on 10ft hoops and can reach 11ft when I jump which is a 36" jump for me so don't go preaching about not being able to improve your vert 10" I did 18" in 5 months. I havn't really started training for vert much either which is why I'm watching this video it's just practice!!

  • ay guys for a fact the sprint he said works becuase if you run a half a mile before a game or something and u can touch rim you will dunk that game .becuase of warm legs along with ur testorone levels building up before you play

  • I don't think you can ever increase your vertical 10 inches unless you're incredibly out of shape before hand or use weights alot

  • This worked, im 5'8" and i can dunk with flying colors now, thanks dre (i spritned each day and did sqauts twice a day until i could get rim, then thats all i did)

  • Dre do you think dead lifts are a good substitute for squats? My gym doesn't have a squat rack so I opted to make dead lifts my main lower body exercise. I also throw in some lunges and leg press etc.....

  • @Jokiyel it depends how big ur wingspan is or if you can grab it. Measure ur standing reach, then jump up as high as you can and subtract your maximum jumping height from ur standing reach. mines about 33 or 34 inches.
