Tom Allen is becoming more desperate by the day. Susan Collins has done a lot more good than bad. He keeps on trying to break down susan collins and are trying to get maine voter away from the better choice. Tom Allen runs a bad campaign and cant win with just his political views. Politics like this are wrong and people who run campaigns of this nature should be ashamed.

addison, I completely agree with you. tom allen doesn't know better because he's using everyone's money. no matter what happens, there is going to be fraud everywhere, its the government people, government is the most inefficient system in the US. why are you going to the news and trying to blame Collins for the nation's decisions? you're starting to sound like Hillary Clinton.

Her committee did nothing about the many and varied crimes of The Bush administration, and her commercials about her courageous stand in favor of companies continuing the business-as-usual of rigging union elections make me sick.

Although I'm sure she has done some good things in office, Allen makes a valid point here. Forcing contractor CEOs to testify before the Senate would make them extra cautious that their companies are not engaging in mismanagement and waste of taxpayer money. I think the mere threat of getting grilled before Congress could have curtailed abuses, but for some reason Sen. Collins didn't seem inclined to do so.

I'm shocked by Collins answer to these charges. It sounds to me like she's saying that the committee she Chaired for four years is absolutely useless.

It's great that she passed legislation on this in 2006, but it took her three years to do anything. In the mean time we were being ripped off by Cheney's friends. I'm sorry but that is too little too late.

Tom Allen misses the point. She passed legislation to curb the abuse. Of course, he wouldn't know anything about that because in 10 years he's never passed any legislation. Zero. Great hit piece by CBS though. Can't really tell where they stand...

Susan has done a lot for the State of Maine, and I think has done a reasonably good job representing us. As far as looking into the fraud with Haliburton/Blackwater, etc... that has been scrictly taboo under the Bush/Cheney Rules. And if you think our congressman or senators have any say anymore in this country you need to shut off the TV and do some research. Cheney and his lawyers have been transferring all the power to the Executive and Judicial branches. Leaving most of us powerless.

How was her inability to hold them responsible detrimental to the citizens of Maine anymore than any other state? It was detrimental to all of us...and it was known to all government officials from the president to the congressional aides. It does not matter who chaired the committee...they would not have done anything. How do you figure she funneled tax dollars from Maine? directly to Haliburton/KBR. I tend to look for the postitive like what she has got back from the till for us...cont...

She has fought to ensure that important social programs here at home are adequately funded, to secure more funding for education, to help children receive mental health care, to ensure adequate health care in rural areas, and to boost funding for heating assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. She also sought solutions to high prescription drug costs and gasoline prices.

When are republicans going to finally take responsibility for their actions? Why doesn't Susan Collins answer the questions asked her? What does she have to hide, and why doesn't she look out for the best interests of the people she represents?  And she claims to be 'disappointed' for being held to task. Will she too be eventually tried for war crimes against Americans, as she helped to pad the GOP's and Halliburton's already overflowing pockets.
