Thanks.. The hard drive on our machine died, no click of death, just the sound of bearings failing. got a BSOD and now the machine wont boot or even allow access to the bios, I didn't know how to get it opened. Thanks again.
Can you please tell me, is there any way to connect Netbook Hdd drive to a PC for saving some very important files on it, and then take it back to my netbook, 'cause it can't load up windows -.-, and then to reinstall system... I have asus 1005px..
Great video! I was in and out of the 1001PX in 10 minutes. Hard drive click of death, replaced with a similar model. No issues whatsoever (thanks to your vid). Every time I work on an unfamiliar laptop, I lose 15-20 minutes on "discovery", locating stress points, screws, etc. Your video saved me time!
Great Video and very helpful. HOWEVER on the Model my GF has, there is a screw which holds the top bezel in and it cannot be removed until that screw (located in the RAM comparment) is removed. SO BE SURE TO REMOVE THAT SCREW or you'll crack the top bezel attempting to remove it.
I can't open it, it's stuck next to the touch pad and the front of the machine.. I thought that I removed all the screwes but I don't know y I'm afraid to break a part if I forced it
@cidcarioca its not difficult to fix...as long as you can find a replacement card reader for the netbook (try looking on ASUS's site for replacement parts or else look on ebay or something) its just opening a few screws and changing to card reader
actually last i checked there is a newer model of the 1005ha...it boosts upto 14hrs battery life.
But regardless the SSD upgrade is extremely amazing. You'll definitely see HUGE improvement in performance
however given an option i would rather have the ssd on a reglar laptop with like core 2 duo processor...performance gained on a regular laptop is greater then that on a netbook because the Atom processor limits the full capacity of the SSD
Actually, I want a Netbook, Yes i have seen this newest version, its the 1005PE and its battery rocks...
But its not out yet in my country (greece) and when it comes out (if it does) its going to be really expensive...So Im probably going to get this model, with an ssd and ram upgrade...
How long does its battery last, cause it sais almost 10.5 hours...from your own experience , how much can it last ?
From my personal experience if you are just web browsing, msn, and word processing, then your battery will last for about 8-9 hrs with all stock hardware. However the SSD upgrade will give around 10hrs of battery life...but with wifi/bluetooth disabled and on extreme power saver mode you should get the full 10.5hrs
Watching videos will significantly reduce the battery life...continuously watching videos will give you about 5-6hrs of battery life.

@Cvrchak88 You have couple of options... 1. buy a external USB enclosure take the hdd out and put it in the case and use it as any usb external drive
2. open up the desktop.... connect the laptop harddrive directly inside the desktop. You'll need an extra sata cable to do this

@un6abe3abul if you are afraid of breaking it i would suggest you not mess around with it. Let someone with experience do it
