    was it a fish?

  • beautiful snake i love mine. I have a male aru. I feed him live all of the time and a finch sometimes.

  • HD :(

  • I created a site, showmyreptile com, where you can upload pics, videos, start discussions, chat w/ other members, and start groups. Looking for members, would love for you to join. Thanks!

  • nice tank setup.. live fish in there as well? are you a member of any forums with some nice detailed pics ?

  • that bird bad posing for ur snake srry if it died

  • the bird feeding was a bad idea

  • what do you use for trees?

  • @snippy1988 do u know how much damage a meal at mcdonalds will do to you? U do realise that in the wild gtp's eat birds from time 2 time so i dont think this one will make a diff

  • "that's a cool tank!!! it's part fish tank, but still !!!,it's sad to see a finch die, you should put a warning sign before you add that video! (@#$%^&*()_+)"

  • @maikol360able

So you looked at a video titled "Green tree python feeding on finch" and were shocked when it was a Green tree python feeding on a finch?

  • "gust forget about it guy" i have a breed of finches!!,since 2 year's all ready,"so ya",i gust writen something rong that's all? =)

  • @maikol360able

    um okay..

  • i fuck you

  • awesome vid!

But watch the birds. Even the pet store ones can have parasites that aren't good for the snake.

  • Love your set up man!!! Nice varied diet! You must have a happy snake... Also makes it more interesting for him to catch, must get boring eating rats all the time, a lizard at christmas and a finch on birthdays lolz... (that was a year ago) anychance of seeing it now?

  • @vampychick22 they dont eat only 1 a month they eat 1 a week i hav had corn snakes for narly 5 years and sucsesfully bread them they are a good pet

  • why the fuck would you put a helpless bird in there y cant u feed it something dead

  • do you relise how much damege that bird can do to your snake

  • how big is this snake now? Poor bird also.

  • poor birdy

  • true!, thats why they have big teeth for catching and bringing birds in.

  • Its amazing how you have fish swimming around too.

  • sickest setup ive ever seen nice job

  • This is such a beautiful tank. It must be custom built or something.

And how did you acquire a finch to feed this snake? Did you have to buy it? or catch it somehow...?

  • how often do you feed this beautiful snake?

  • cool. I hate pinky mice too. That finch is freaking out. Its like he knew. hhmmmmm.

  • you know, after watching the video. ive come to the conclusion that. 1.these snakse do eat birds, because i just watched one do it. and 2 this tanks is very nice .

  • condros rarley eat birds, there main diet doesnt consist on them, its mainly small mamals. yes they will eat a bird but it is not in their normal diet

  • In the wild, gtp's RARELY eat birds. Their main diet consists of arboreal rodents and frogs.

  • @auspiral

Have you heard about the S373 & HR2811 python ban bills?

  • sucker!

  • Hey man nice setup! But you should not have water as a substrate, it contains loads of bacteria and does not brake down your snake feces. Chondros do not eat birds, several studies have shown this.

  • yes they do eat birds!

  • Wrong my friend.

  • Look it up if you dont believe me. Or watch it on youtube the natgeo episodes out in the wild!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! google that shit bro

  • dude thats an awsome set up.. im looking to buy a green tree pythnon and all i wanted to know was how much did this snake cost

  • dam sick set up how much was it to get that

  • Another internet tough guy.

  • you wouldnt say that in his face =/

  • Wow people are nuts. I don't understand why they watch if the title says feeding on finch. Sweet snake and set up.

  • love the natural rainforest like set up and i also love the snake :D

  • nice set up but do u even have ground or is it all water

  • i love the cage and the snake

  • what else do you have in there ?

  • what kind of tank do you have??

and what kind of water pump do you use?

  • a nice set up for these are a exo terra cage ,u can put water in them, then use a repti filter from zoo med that looks like waterfall for filtration, there is a wide range of sizes of tanks, and are very easy to set up ,these water terrariums are great for the humidity .also make sure there is a ground part to,just for a choise for the snake even though they prefer the branches hope this helps

  • beautiful snake man, and very nice enclosure, do you use fake or live plants?

  • dude like bakerg said at least the animal has a chance to get away in the wild thats why i refuse to feed my gtp live, live is always a last resort for my reptiles

  • dude badass tank

  • lol ya ist biological for biger animal to eat smaller but in the wild at leat the bird get a chance

  • Where is the best place to buy an arboreal snake like this?

  • What's the songs name?

  • are you crazy very expensive finch bird because I am breed finches I will not sell for you snake STAY AWAY MY FINCHES I LOVE MY FINCHES I WILL KILL YOUR SNAKE IF YOUR SNAKE GROW BIG ATTACK MY PARROT KILL YOUR SNAKE

  • Again, chill.

  • Shut up omg, your just as anoying as the fags who bitch and wine about mice being prey animals. All small animals feed bigger animals, watch some national geographic and get educated dipshit.

  • Please Relax Why not you feed your green tree python can eating QUAIL OR BABY CHICKEN NOT FINCHES OK I have many finches not for snake's treat only pet and love watch finches. Can you feed your snake quail or baby chicken or ugly wild bird

  • man im also a bird lover. accually im a animal lover. and yeah id hate to see if that was a gouldian, red faced parrot finch, ect ( i could go all day naming finches) but that seems like a society finch, and they breed like CRAZY! there like almost pests. lol id feed my snake just about anything that i breed in my back yard, from quails, finches, chickens, mice, rats, to baby guine pigs! lol dude just deal with it. ITS NATURE!

  • I have lady gouldian finches too bad news stray cat got two gouldians from outside big cage but trap caught cat called animal control took cat and 2 dead bird away hope no more stray cats. I have many finches, parakeets, mices, one dog lab will get other male lab anytime and two corn snake but I will not let corn snake eat finches never only mice or baby chicken or other

  • are you crazy very expensive finches why I breed finches I will not sell finches for your snake FUCK YOu I WILL KILL YOUR SNAKE

  • Chill.

  • lol...

  • Can I have your green tree pyhton I want feed kingsnake LOSER

  • this happened more than once. The missing chunks shows that they got infected, which points to a neglectful, uncaring, and ignorant owner (which, btw, is generally what all live-feeders are anyways). I have absolutely no problem feeding live, as long as the prey is treated humanely (follow the same rules as if you had bought it as a pet, i.e. feed it and provide it water if it is not going to be offered right away), the feeding is supervised from strike to swallow, and (continued, again...)

  • the snake will NOT take frozen/thawed, or fresh killed, and has not for a time long enough for the snake to begin losing weight. In other words, there has to be no other choice, short of force-feeding the snake. On a different subject, when i went to post this, it said comments were disabled, which is why it took so long to post this last part.

  • One last thing, since I'm here. This is responding to the "snakes don't eat frozen food in the wild!!!1117q" people. They may not, but that is no justification to feed them live in captivity. They still eat it, it sustains them, and it is more humane to the snake, and the prey. I have seen up close and personally what can happen to a snake that is fed live. The thing had over 15 individual bite wounds, some were inch wide chunks missing (corn snake, btw), which shows that (continued...)

  • Thank you, I'm glad other people feel the same way. One of the reasons I believe so firmly in feeding f/t is that it is not only more humane for the snake, but it is also much more humane for the food item as well. It is much better to have a quick, painless, peaceful death in a CO2 gas chamber, then to die the way it would if fed live to a snake. It is very possible to love snakes, and still care about their prey too (i have a snake and 3 birds, so i know what im talking about there).

  • green tree pythons live primarily off of birds and bats in the wild dumb dumb.

  • For Christ's sake, they DO NOT 'primarily' feed upon birds and bats in the wild. In fact it is mainly arboreal rodents that they eat. Read Greg Maxwell's book. He knows a hell of a lot more about these snakes than most people, including yourself.

  • what son is playing on the vid?

  • Why go out of your way and buy a finch to feed your snake??? Much more expensive than a feeder mouse/rat. My guess would be you just want to see what your snake can kill and eat, and I guess finch was on the menu. Stick to mice/rats......sheesh....also the "time to die" line is further proving my point you just want to see what animals your snake can kill.....*sigh*....

  • I agree 100%. Also, why the fuck is your comment rated down so far? That is sad. You get a +1 from me, though.

  • Because people enjoy this, and think its "nature". -_- Thanks though! :P

  • It is nature, OUT THERE *points out window*, not here. Things change the second we bring them into our house.

  • Exactly! That what I try to tell people. But they insist on thinking feeding a live animal in an ENCLOSED area where the prey item is doomed, is nature. -_- People without knowledge on the subject shouldnt talk these days, atleast you understand it! :D

  • I'm a member of the Minnesota Herpetological Society. The people there are great. As i'm typing this, my Ball Python is stretched out along my leg, just chillin. She seems to enjoy being out of her cage, and my reasoning behind this is the fact that she is so much more calm when she's with me, then when she's in her cage. I know snakes don't experience emotions quite like we do, but there has to be some reasoning behind her difference in behavior.

  • Oh really? Very cool! Im only 19, so no big time Societies for me, yet. :P But I to also have a Ball Python that enjoys to be out of her tank very much. Getting her back in is quite the challenge. Lol. Same with my 3Geckos. They just love to roam about. Im most likely moving them up to bigger tanks soon. I think people under estimate the minds of certain animals, especially reptiles.

  • Heh heh, I'm 17. It is nice though, that snakes have simple minds. It makes it easier to predict what they are going to do. Snake psychology (almost an oxymoron) is pretty easy.

  • Thank you for making several intelligent and thoughtful comments in the respect to live vs f/t feeding. Sometimes I feel like its only me who has the sense to realize that dropping an undersized mouse into an enclosure with a 6ft anaconda, and watching it being constricted and swallowed IS NOT AT ALL NATURAL!!!

  • By the way people, that fact that 'AnjuABCDE' has rated all my comments -1 is because he is a moron. What I state in my comments is in fact correct. Peace out.

  • Oh wow. I apologize! Very impressed though. Only 17. Very cool. Maybe there is some scoiety here in NJ I can join. Lol. Yeah, I mean, most animals display some sort of notion before showing any aggression. Like my king snake rattles his tail, goes into the S position. Etc. What kind of snakes do you have?

  • Just a Ball Python, but I have experience with 15+ species. I just got my Ball September 5th, but I have been working with her constantly since then. She was great when I adopted her from the Herp Society, and she's making amazing progress. I plans to turn her into an education snake. She just did her first weekend at the Renaissance Festival. She did great. Before I got her, I borrowed animals from fellow Society members, and I still do, every once in a while, to give her a break.

  • Oh, very cool! Thats interesting, I remember helping a friend of mine with a small Herp Society project at a local fair. I was explaining the snakes to the small kids that came around. I really enjoyed it. I dont think that society is running anymore. It was cool. Maybe itll return to the fair once again. I have 4 snakes. 2 Kings, a Corn and a Ball Python. All very awsome animals.

  • Sounds like it. I feel like we're turning this comment box into a forum though, so if you wanna talk more, we can message back and forth. I hate clogging the comments section. Finally something for the owner of the video: nice snake, nice enclosure, disapprove of your feeding methods, but to each his own.

  • Haha. Alrighty.

  • @MikeIsEvil lol okay.. I know this is 2 yrs old but I have to comment. You say that putting live prey in the tank where it is doomed isnt natural. But please tell me....do the prey items have a chance of survival when someone else kills them before you feed it to your snake? How exactly is killing a rat and then handing it to your snake natural. lol.

  • @curvyone1 Because it isnt natural. The snake/reptile is in a GLASS TANK. Thats not natural Its not about natural or not, its about being humane. Live or dead, throwing a bird/rat into a unescapeble situation where it will die in a glass tank is certainly not natural. Thy are simply being fed, not hunting

  • @MikeIsEvil exactly my point! But some people prefer to keep somethings as natural as possible. And one way to do that, is to allow the reptile to hunt to keep some of its instincts in tact. Its not cruel, this is the way its supposed to be. And the mouse isnt scared when its in the tank. The mouse has NO IDEA WHATS HAPPENING, thats why they'll walk right up to the reptile. The rodents die quickly, often much quicker than some people kill them before freezing them....

  • @MikeIsEvil God forbid you unknowingly use frozen rats that were actually frozen alive. So lets not decide decide that people who feed live dont know what they're talking about etc...They have valid reasons as well. I use both methods of feeding. I have snakes that will not eat rodents already dead. And starving them between feedings till they're hungry enough to to eat it is just wrong. You talk like the rodents are stuck in fear as they are maliciously hunted. thats not the case though.

  • holy crap thats the coolest cage!

  • can u make a vid on how to setup a green tree python cage plz i like your tank and i would like to set one up like yours also could u plz in clude wat lights and substrates wat u use etc :] nice snake

  • Even though i'm a bird lover, i can still appreciate a snake eating a bird (probably cause im also a snake lover, lol). What i do NOT appreciate, is how at the beginning, somebody said "time to die!". THAT is what turns a video of a snake eating a finch, into a video of some sick people watching an animal kill another animal, just for the thrill and entertainment of watching it die. THAT makes me mad. There is a difference between a snake eating, and sick people watching things die.

  • some snakes wont eat dead food, and besides, its good entertainment !!!

  • Ya i have a mroelia viridis two chekc out my new vid of me and my dad killign mties

  • oh and 3snakekiller, if i ever saw you kill a snake, i'd probably push you into a woodchipper :D

  • omg omg your so mean, i hate you. your so cruel.

jk lol. just trying to sound like a hippie. did it work? nice snake. my cousin wants one but we don't know how to work up $400. have you ever saw the blue green tree pythons? those are amazing looking. and one more thing. how much was your snake?

  • spikeybird, ur an idiot, thats a retarded assumption, feathers are not hard to digest and birds are full of lean protein. go play in traffic

  • This is retarded! Birds have no nutritional value for a snake, and are hard to digest with the feathers.

Does this species of snake come from South America? Looks like it does. Zebra finches come from Australia. This was nothing more than the slow torture of a innocent finch for the entertainment of mentally-ill dumbasses.

  • no nutritional value?

    its a fucking snake!!!

they digest everything and anything they see as food.

snakes have been eating small ground animals for millions of years.

pretty sure they can digest a few little finch feathers.

and just because you are obsessed with birds, spikeybird122, doesnt make this a slow torture of a innocent finch for the entertainment of mentally-ill dumbasses.

  • lol, you are so stupid its not even funny, its like saying if you are from south America you wont be able to digest Australian cow, jackass. birds in fact is the primary food source for tree pythons in the wild.

  • For Christ's sake, they DO NOT 'primarily' feed upon birds and bats in the wild. In fact it is mainly arboreal rodents that they eat. Read Greg Maxwell's book. He knows a hell of a lot more about these snakes than most people, including yourself.

  • so? its like saying you usually eat beef or pork, and one day the cook decided to make you fish which you dont occasionaly have and people start hating on you. did i claim i know alot? i just said they do eat bird watever in the wild.

  • Actually, what you said was that birds were "in fact is the primary food source for tree pythons in the wild", which does not simply imply that the do eat birds. Your beef/pork/fish analogy is ridiculous. I never said they don't eat birds at all: they do. Don't insult my intelligence, you are clearly a total fuck wit.

  • lol,Im not insulting your intelligence, your intelligence is insulting you. my original comment was to let ppl know that they do eat birds, do i really need to explain everything GTP eats? varity of things. and you jump out after like 5 month later. as for the beef/pork/fish thing, hahaha, you are so stupid.

  • You clearly are a idiot. You also struggle to spell properly, and, to be able to read what you actually wrote which was that birds constituted the majority of their diet in the wild. This is a load of crap. I take your point, and yes they are opportunistic feeders, and will eat birds, but not 'primarily' birds.

  • I thought my criticism was obvious but you don't seem to have understood it. I just don't want people thinking what you said was correct, going out and buying multiple finches for their tree pythons to eat believing this was the correct thing to do. The beef/pork fish thing was actually your genius conception, so really you are 'so stupid'. Having said that, lets be friends :) x x

  • you're a fagget!

  • Nice tank setup and snake but your chondro dont get to wet and get scale rot??

  • Your excuses are so lame for your sadism. NO ethical herper feeds live, period, let alone post it! You are the reason our hobby is being legislated out of existence! Thanks alot, Moron!

  • kaatjeotto

go choke on a fat one

come on its a snake it cant go cook somthing to eat...

  • thats such a sick cage...im getting a tree boa to replace my rainbow that died...im guessing there cages prolly need 2 be the same so i may model mine around urs...what is swimming in the water?

  • kaatjeotto FUCK OFF!! I dont understand why you watch these videos if they make you mad and your against it.

  • He was jacking off when he said that...Some people would rather watch snakes die then live. Unforunatly snakes eat to live and you owning a snake will feed it because its your pet. People would rather talk shit other then pick up a book and realize what this world would be like if snakes werent eating. Crops would be ruined and pest birds and rodents would over populate. While these people bitch about my snake eating they go buy mouse traps and throw mice away and think thats "OK". Hypocrits.

  • SWeet setup. the bird was fucking up the cage when it flying around, lol.

  • awsome set up

  • great vid

  • I believe that in their natural habitat, green tree pythons predominantly prey on arboreal (tree dwelling) rodents, much like the similar Emerald Tree Boa from the Amazon Basin;however, they will also eat birds, and even lizards when they are young,

  • I had mixed emotions first time i watched this video. I didn't think anyone would feed a wild bird to a pet snake like that. I would't; and PuddingZombie, they obviously do eat birds. Whatever you read or heard was incorrect. Its ok. Thats how you learn.

  • no they dont

  • dont feed fking live shit to a snake give em frozen food this is way too fked up.

  • Nice Snake!!

  • yea you fucking retard. not every snake eats rats. If u knew something about Green Trees you would know that.

  • green trees believe it or not do not eat birds

  • yea they are, Go look it up on the internet in the wild the eat birds,

  • great set up! I love it! Are tree boas aggressive? Can they swim?

  • This i a morelia virdis=green tree python,not tree boas.

  • my mistake! :) but do you know if they are aggressive? I heard that tree snakes are more aggressive...

  • I think tree pythons are some aggresive.

  • thanks! :)

  • Rats don't live in forests, so of course they eat finches. And these snakes are tree dwellers, where in a tree would you find a rat. On top of that where would you find a rat in a rain forest?

  • beutiful cage man

  • GTP'S eat birds in the wild and bats i have a burm that wont take rats or rabits so i have to buy a dead chicken and stuff it with a rat then it will eat

  • nice snake nice cage but haha i dont knwo where ppl get the idea snakes dont eat bird in the wild . . .haha

  • I agree with feeding birds. I think its great and they do eat them in the wild.

  • Your setup is so cool.

  • green tree pythons dont eat birds believe it or not you shouldnt feed em that

  • you can give him a shot to hydrate him

  • how old is your beautifull snake , im getting one but its gonna be a baby and im a little scared that it might die or something coz its so young unless i do everything right , what is the best age to get a GTP i cant wiat to get mine

  • i luv those snakes! especialy the baby tomato red onees.

  • May I ask what is swimming in the bottom at 1:33?

  • not if u tame it.any animal can be taimed

  • green tree pythons are beautiful but agressive, no? Can you pet it?

  • Love the setup !!! nice snake man!!!

  • great snake. great setup. great owner clearly. nice video :D

  • sorry i ment to say i cant find a filter lol

  • howdo u keep the water filtered at the bottom...like i can find a filter for somthing like that?

  • wat if i payed u to set up my tank

  • omg your tank is awsome!!!!! man i have a getto ass shoe box for my snake

  • your chondro is amazing, "felicidades"

  • are green tree python agessive like are they mean?

  • great plss upolad more videos!!! this beauty

  • Awesome snake man! That was without a doubt the coolest cage set up I have ever seen! I am 10 years old and have 2 corn snakes 1 king snake and am about to get a black milk snake. Would anybody recomend me to get a green tree I now they hert very bad when they bite but I have been bit by a 13 foot burmese! I can handle it I also am aware of there high maitenence but I love those snakes and really want one. Is anybody here an expierianced herpetcoultarist? I am believe it or not.

  • cool!! bot they bite a lot! i had one! it was very agressive unlike my 10 burmese and 13 ball pythons

  • i got another question. actually two

one are they handable like balls or do they bite a lot.

two they can swim so if he falls in the water he can get back into the plantwork right. because i'd really like to incorporate that concept u used

  • hi bobbydesi,

1)if you handle them often from a young age they can be handled like balls. they can get aggressive at night (being nocturnal), after misting the tank (most active during the rainy seasons in the wild) and if not handled often..

  • 2)I would not think that the water will be a problem if im not mistaken most snakes are able to swim if they need to. but green tree phytons are soo well taken to the branches that you would not need to worry.Though, during feeding his head can drop low enough to reach the water when hes strangling so you got to make sure your branches are not too low.

  • thanks alot for the info dzaeman ill take that into consideration. and btw is it possible that the fish are plecostomus (plecos)?

  • i really like the tank. some ppl only keep them for breeding and sp they keep them in petboxes with just a stick for the snakes to sit on. i like to make my tanks nature like! im thinking of getting a chondro. yellow is real nice!

  • that is so badass btw is he a juvenile cuz hes not all green and stuff? idk im sort of new to gtp's

  • exactly, younger ones are either maroon or yellow, some of them stay yellow, but most mature to be green.

  • tj2gq4u, you say that GTP dont eat birds in the wild? Well research has found that they do. They belive they need the blood from the bird to help growth, many GTP that dont have birds in the diet can devlope problems.

Nice snake BTW, just a little bit bigger than mine? What type is it, aru, surong etc etc.

  • Nice boa there dude! and i love ur cage setting, It looks like a real jungle! nice job and I really appreciated that u bought a bird for your snake even though the mice are cheaper!
