Wes definately didnt kno parts of the song... he continuously looked in Guy and Joel's mouth for clarification.....but anyways the song was good... keep doing the good work u do, praise the lord!!
this is awsome, GVB with bass, it's the first time I love GVB... that low D at the end is so strong, and you're voice so powerfull yet easy to controll, Bless your heart
Wow....I had to show everyone in my house this song. I love this hymn and you all sang it beautifully! I just wish I could be right in the middle and get all the voice surrounding me!!
This is my all time favorite hymn.... I trace the rainbow through the rain.. and feel the promise is not vain... That morn shall tearless be.... just beautiful harmony.... THANK YOU For posting this
I love this so much guys. i searched and searched till i found it again. it really is the best.Thank you for posting it so we could enjoy. fantastic! What a bass!
Joel, wonderful job. I'm a baritone -- which translated means, "I wish I could sing tenor or real bass notes." Your last note was simply spot one. I'll add my vote to those who suggest you could fill Bill's shoes -- and then some.
@cotterell2 No offense to Bill, but that's because Joel is an actual bass, lol. I never have really cared much for Bill's voice (especially as a "bass"). Nothing against him, just never really liked it.
@Dut1933 It's an opinion, and I have every right to state it. Whether you or agree with it or not makes no difference. I was just being honest. Don't like it? Go to a country where there is no free speech...where opinions are frowned upon. I'm not bad mouthing Bill, just stating that I don't care too much for him as a bass. He was a better baritone. You make it sound like I was talking bad about him. As I had said, nothing against him. He's a great guy, and he's got more spirit than most people.
But JOEL? A barbershop singer or music teacher... has his hands in his pockets till Guy puts up '5'...
Barbershop Singers sing with alot more emotion compared to other types of singers... AND Joel keeps his hands in his pockets while Wes keeps tapping his ears, Marshall and Guy are playing basketball with their hands... While Joel has full control of his breathing, posture, and everything else... JOEL YOU ARE AWESOME!!
this is where southern gospel and Barbershop connect. Southern Gospel in a sense... is barbershop rock. Think about it. The Tenor Lead Bari and Bass, then instrumental backing! It makes sense now.
I only got 35 secs in...good job with the bass dude! For a minute I thought you were the new bass or something, lol (I saw the comments below me). Congrats on getting to sing with them; I love their blend.
Wes is so cute, even cuter when he forgets words. :)
I would LOVE to sing a song with the GVB! Would be a dream come true. I don't think I will ever get there though. :) Great job - you are blessed to have had that opportunity!
I have just listened to it again- who's the incredible bass- No disrespect to Mr Gaither but this balance is far stronger all round. What a Blessing to receive. thank you- It's really lifted up my spirit.
ohh, yeah... that's the Canadian bassist, he is from Kitchener, he even went to the same highschool I went to, Eastwood Collegiate Institute :) I remember when he came to Kitchener with Harmonics. It was so awesome!
This is outstanding (and how the song should be sung)...I love this song, it has blessed me so many times...to hear the words sung with such feeling is a gift in its self...
Awesome, indeed, Joel. Nothing less than we expect from you (!) but, all the same, you had a great opportunity and you really nailed it. I'd give anything to see more of the before and after, though... ! Love it when folks outside of B'shoping discovers that there's some talent in our ranks.
The true measure of talent is whether someone can sing acapella. Job well done! Beautiful harmony. Just don't let the meaning of the words get lost in the process... this is a GREAT song with beautiful WORDS.
Listen to that bass! Joel, I think you should sing bass for this group! You all blend PERFECTLY with each other! The low D2 at the end was so incredible! Nice work! Very inspiring!!!

Hello, this was very beutiful, thanks for shareing! Correct me if I'm wrong but most GVB songs are with orchestra and less than 4 vocal parts. I think that they should sing with less vibrato, it might work with the GVB setup, but I personally don't like it at all when it is overdone in four part harmony. Great job on the bass part there Joel!
