Is the American release going to be nation wide, or will it be a limited release? I really want to see an this movie, and I'm sick and tired of Ohio getting skipped over for the release of an anime movie!
If a dubbed version of the movie is released I hope beyond all hope that Johnny Bosch reprises his role as Vash. I can't imagine anyone else doing Vash's voice.
@SonicDude87 It is my understand that JYB will be returning as the voice of Vash, but he is the only voice actor who will be returning from the show. Both Dorthy Fahn (Meryl) and Jeff Nimoy (Wolfwood) were unable to make things work with Funimation to reprise their roles, and from what I have heard Lea Thompson (Milly) has retired from anime. The Japanese cast all returned, though.
Well at least Bosch is returning. I'll miss Wolfwood and the Insurance girls' voices but at least the Vash voice will be right. Hopefully Funimation will get VAs that sound close to the original VAs.
@demontank76 Honestly, I don't know. It comes out tomorrow in Japan. I figure it'll take at least three months (probably more) for the rights to be secured in North America, and then probably another couple of moths for them to translate and adapt the script followed by a few weeks on dialogue recording, and then another few weeks on editing everything together....
@demontank76 I seriously doubt that it will get a theatrical release though. While it's a big deal to the fandom, it's small potatoes compared to the rest of the American movie market. If for some reason it does get a theatrical release, then you can expect it to be a limited release, probably playing in large cities like LA, Seattle, Miami, New York, etc.
To be perfectly frank, I expect it to be directly released on DVD and not in theaters at all.
@tsubasanomegami At Anime Expo 2010, FUNimation is presenting the North American premiere of the film with English subtitles on Saturday, July 3 at 4:00 pm in the Film Room. In honor of the premiere, producer Shigeru Kitayama will be in attendance.
FUNimation will release the film in theatres and on DVD in 2011.
@Darnistehgreat So it's already premiered with English subtitles at AX... Damn, I knew I should have gone! (Though..I've already seen it, but I would like to know what's being said.)
Well, glad that it's getting a theatrical release, but will it be limited (to larger metro areas) or a full release? But whatever - if I can find a way to see it in theaters, I'm there.
