I still listen to SA, but 'old school' SA! I had problems with Unia at first, but I learned to like it, in conclusion it's a pretty awesome album overall, even if they drastically changed their style from an album to another, 'the guys are just growing up' I thought. Days of Grays, on the other hand, completly turned me off. I listened it 2-3 times, I just can't take how 'soft' SA became.
Even if I saw SA 6 times live, I'd still go to their show! They didn't killed the setlist at least. =D

@Sonatafani How about Nightwish, then? Do you think that Annette is even comparable to Tarja??? A band is not just a sum of people, it's some kinda puzzle...every single piece has a role!. Sometimes it happens that the ones who leave a band used not to create the songs, or the replacements may be even better than the previous ones...but a replacement in a band always entails a change....
@Dartololo bro, nightwish is still a kick ass band, and yes its a different voice, but its no reason to not like the band anymore, and change can give band a new edge too, and also those seperated band members make something great still, in jan's case, its cain's offering, in nightwish's case, their is still tarja's solo carreer

I mean if Tony got replaced by a rapper or some shit like that I would be mad and not buy any of their new stuff (though I'd still love Ecliptica through Days of Grays). Sonata has gone through stylistic changes that I feel started in Unia, I love the more progressive style but it seems the change has little to do with Jani. I always felt Nightwish was a little "meh" as Symphonic metal goes, so I'm not a good judge of that.

After what happened with Tarja the band obviously wanted something different and they chose to name Anette as their vocalist. I like old Nightwish more than the new but still Nightwish is one favourite bands and I don't think that its going to change.
Exactly, Sonata Arctica is still good, i really liked "The Days of Grays" as much as i liked the other Sonata Arctica's albums, Jani left the band, so what?, as you said, some people love the band, not just a member
Sonata will always be a great band, and of course, i also love this band, Cain's Offering, both awesome bands
@Sonatafani it was not cuz of jani, cuz the first time i saw em live they came to mexico with the new guitarist but they played songs of the first 4 albums mostly and they were awesome, but i didnt like Unia and i dont like much flag on the ground
i was a huge sonata artica fan untill jani left. now im a big cains offering fan. what a truely legendary group of talented experienced guys we have here. this is the stuff. bunch of legends doing what they all do best. its so good to have jani back too. hes better then laiho and that says it all. elias has no magic thats why i cant listen to sa anymore. can anyone tell me when cains offering will bring out a new album please. lets hope if features more jani kickass solos
@nalkainen Wow it's sad knowing you only listened to a band because of a small insignificent member. They have a better guitarist now who plays with more feeling anyway. Sonata still sound just as good.
@WRstudd - While I agree with the gist of what you're saying, I don't think it's fair to label Jani an 'insignificant' member of Sonata Arctica. Considering they are only a four-man band, the guitarist plays a huge role.

god damn it this sounds so fucking awesome, enjoyed a LOT moe than any song on the new SA album. and I loved the "electronic/trance" beats, never heard it before in metal and guess what I listen to all kinds of music so... I just thought it sounded really good, and damn timo kotipelto sounds so good again!
But yea like you said on this band there are abit "disco sounding" which doesnt sound THAT good overally, but as long as you like to listen this or that band, does it even matter what's it it after all.

I still listen to Sonata Arctica even jani left the band, in fact it didn´t affect me at all.
Its pretty strange that someone stops liking a band because of one member. I like the band, not one member of it.
