People with hearts try to help because they can't bear the thought that that little creature was abandoned or lost for what every reason. They want to try and do the right thing by helping. It works sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't. I think that admirable, trying to reha them until they are old enough to be re-released somewhere. It's not done out of selfishness. Even a harden animal person can feel the tug of "Mothering" around a tiny, helpless creature. Nothing wrong or silly about that.
Oh, sad. I had three little ones that I rescued from our garden tiller. They didn't make it this far even. I think that once they realize you're NOT a mother bunny, it's just downhill from there. :( Sorry little baby.
He's cute and looks very well adjusted in the wonderful habitat you've created. I rescued a cotton tail from a cat's mouth. Don't see the respect issue at all.
aaawwwww . LOook at the hoppy bunny!!! its so cute!!!
look at it hippity hopping.
But its always like that isnt it? Theyre so cute as babies, and then they grow into these horrifically oversized eating adn pooin machines... I wish they just stayed little.

he was an abandoned baby cottontail that was being rehabilitated.

very well, but why oh why in the first place do people even dream of holding those wild little critters in captivity...it is heartbreaking

it's very unfortunate :( too many animals are completely disrespected because of selfish reasons.

Awww, I hope you gave him warm cuddles after that, he looks so wee and lost. You can tell he's looking for a cozy corner.
And I love the way he's tiptoeing - I had loads of rabbits and never had one that did that.
Was he from the wild?
Normal dwarf rabbits are different.
