  • Is Andre the giant your father?

  • wow...I forgot how tedious casettes were to use, glad we have CDs/DVDs nowadays. Although adimitedly I had much more luck with portable cassette players than CD players. Cool features though, they really did give it a perfect amount of fast and slow mode not to make the voice sound really slow or really fast but just of a different pitch

  • @nop277 CDs/DVDs. No one uses those anymore. It is all MP3s/Blurays now. ;)

  • @Chaoitcme yeah, MP3s are a lot more convenient nowadays. I actually see a lot more DVDs though than Bluray. Too much protection on Bluray and its still a bit pricey for most peoples tastes

  • @nop277 Yeah I agree with you. I was just giving you a hard time. I recently got a Playstation 3 and final bought my first bluray. The have gone down in price over the last year or two. Now you can pick many Blurays up for about $10. You just have to find the deals. I have a bunch of DVDs and it just does not seem right to go out and replace them with Blurays. Not worth the price. Yes the quality is way better on Bluray but I will not be buying a ton of them. I just download movies.

  • @Chaoitcme yeah i remember back when DVDs were in the same situation though. I think I begged my parents for like a year to get a DVD player when they were like 200 bucks. My dad tells me he remembers going out and buying a VHS for like 300 bucks

  • "Luke, I am your father. Come to the dark side. It's your destiny." Hahaha. Weird. :) but cool!

  • i had a talkbo when i was younger .

  • I remember getting the TalkBoy pen version on my 9th birthday from Toys R Us...along with an Aaaah Real Monsters! t-shirt and a rented Sega Saturn from Blockbuster with Dayton USA, Virtua Cop, and...one other game (can't remember lol). I always wanted the original TalkBoy though...

  • @zeioIIDX Rented? yikes...that must have sucked when you had to bring it back

  • @shibez

Haha yeah...I don't even know if Blockbuster rents out systems anymore. But video rental stores did it a lot in the 90's. You start to get attached to the system and the system and the games then it's like...crap, this isn't really mine :(

  • @zeioIIDX yes i remember when they rented them out...(i am 27 now) i think thats partially the reason they went bankrupt. Everyone rented them and "forgot" to return them lmao

  • Dude, how did Fred get on that casette?!

  • this is from home alone

  • @MrFaMoUsKiD13 Ya think???

  • I remember those. I think mine is still in a closet at my mom's house.

  • Oh Snap! You just slammed Fred with a Talkboy!

  • I used to have that. They were popular back then.

  • Haha.. used to have one of these! Kind of want to buy one again for the hell of it.

  • Credit Carrd, Youuu Got It!

I had one of these back in 1993, it was the coolest thing I ever owned. Well maybe 2nd to my Ghostbuster Proton Pack.

  • i bought one of these at a flea market today with the home alone 2 blank talkboy tape for 3 bucks

  • I got a TALKBOY!

  • I just digged mine out of my toybox! Lol, im 18......

  • i remember bugging the hell out of my mother to get me one of these and i finally got one for christmas. i never left the house without it

  • I had this when I was a kid right after Home Alone 2

  • Hey! Get out of here you little maggot, before I slap you silly!

  • @cc10266 Well played. Lol.

  • i had one of these and the pens as a kid.

if i remember the tape included had quotes from the movie said by the kid(i forget his name)

and the other side of it was blank for recording.

  • Fuk dude ur hand is huge!

  • that was on home alone 2

  • @nikosa1997 he mentioned that right at the start

  • Didn't Tiger make furbys? I still have my furby :3 It scares me :C

Also I was disappointed when you didn't do the "hi kids we're home early" thing :C

  • we know guys that could really do the cool jerkkkk

  • I *HATE* Fred…glad you made fun of that dumbass…..i used to have one of those things, wish i still did….

  • your voice sounds like it's permanently stuck in the slow setting ;)

  • @gnamp better than sounding like it is stuck in the fast setting I guess. =)

  • the pipboy is better :P

  • Mine sitll works great.

  • I remember the commercials that came out after Home Alone 2 and I knew a ton of kids who wanted one of these, myself included! I got one for Christmas that same year and it wasn't near as cool as they made it seem in the movie. I was so disappointed that it was just another tape recorder. I think I ended up giving it to one of the neighborhood kids who also ended up disappointed! Thanks Tiger, way to dash kids' hopes against the jagged rocks of reality!!!!

  • I love Home Alone/Home Alone 2! It reminds me of that! We used to have the talkboy before, but we don't know if we still have it though... :(

  • Yea but the one in home alone was bigger and the word talkboy was printed on the bottom. They must have made 2 versions, or at least a unique model for Home alone 2.

  • hey aren't u gamester81

  • I remember watching those TV spots for this in the 90s as a kid and WANTED IT SO BAD. Now that i look at it, it's just a g'damn tape recorder!!!

  • I owned one of these. I only made one tape that was good.

  • HELLO this is Peter McCallister, the FATHER.

  • @mtcrkb LOL!

  • BGR brought me here :)

  • I had to get one of those after seeing Home Alone 2 *lol*

  • This shit was in that movie for like less than 4 minutes!!!! hahaha

  • The only feature that the deluxe model had over the original was the 'slow' feature. The switch on the original just showed on and off. The battery life was pretty good. If i remember correctly. the original came out shortly after home alone 2, but wasn't advertised, then the deluxe model came along, and was advertised on TV.

  • lol your fred voice is probably still lower than freds actual voice

  • Hahahahaha ya your rly good with that thing that sounded exactly like Fred. I still have mine and the recording on the tape is form when I was like 5-6 so it's rly NES-stalgic

    Great video

  • when I heard the darth vader playback, you reminded me of barry white.

  • Oh man I hate Fred

  • i had one when i was younger then i lost it but i still have the tape it came with to record in it then i just recently got one that can be held by adults.

  • my cousin had one of them i thought i wanted one but never cared to get one i just thought it was cool i know i liked watching kevin on home alone use it

  • Hi kids, we're home eaarlly!

  • how long do the 4 AA batteries last?

  • "Just leave it on the door step and get the hell outa here."

  • i hate Fred too

  • I vaguely remember this thing coming out!! Whatever happened to Tiger? I think the last thing I recall they made was Gigapet. Anyone know what they're up to now?

  • I hate Fred...

    ... But good video:-)

  • hahah awesome!!!!!!!

  • misquote

  • Haha, I was born in '93!

  • huge fan of home alone but i never wanted one of these.. around this time i had a sony voice recorder which was small and could fit in my pocket

  • I remember the commercial for this thing. "Stop Drooling on me" haha

  • I worked in a toy warehouse back in '97 and there were loads of these on the shelves. I always thought about stealing one but never did.

  • I definitely had one of these! So good

  • why did you have to bring up Fred?!? Im pissed now that idiot makes me sick.

  • Damn I miss the 90s

  • Awesome John! you've brought back some great memories, my cousin owned one back then and i was quite jealous lol, i also loved home alone 1 and 2, i coudln't tell you how many times i've watched those films. One of my favs while growing up! thanks John :).

  • OMFG I REMEMBER THIS THING

  • I got a talk boy back in 1993-1994. I think that Toys R Us sold them until 2000. I am not 100 percent sure. The Talkback came with a tape. One side had audio clips from the movie. The other side was blank so you could record anything. I used my TB so much it quit working.

  • Yep, I remember that!

I recall the commercial for it where the kid was terrorizing his older sister and her boyfriend. XD

    I never had one though.

  • Lmao that Fred voice sounded just like him i think gamesters a fan lmao jk

  • i remember having that...then i dropped it down the stairs..CRAP

  • As soon as this was in Toys R' Us... EVERY kid wanted this including me, lol

  • whats a casseste tape

  • @CapChronic the cassette tape was pretty much an a trak tape but smaller. back then you bought them to listen to music for the most part. the modern CD replaced the cassette tape back in the 90s.

  • LMFAO I knew you were going to say the luke I am your father line.

  • lol..great vid..btw, i hate Fred

  • Oh boy I remember wanting this thing after seeing it in Home Alone 2. My Grandma had one of those mini tape recorders for like recording lectures and stuff and I played with it like it was a toy it could slow down and speed up too.

  • I love how you recorded a commercial for all your projects! And the Darth Vader and Fred things...hilarious!

I remember the commercials for this and wanted one so bad. Never got it of course.

  • I had one of those!

  • I used the Talkboy till it refused to work for me. That thing was so money.

  • John, dude, here in the UK, I remember first seeing this beast advertised. Now, I'm 20 and I remember being 8 years old when this was first advertised in the UK (1998 or so) . I know why-because I begged my mum for a Talkboy for Xmas!

  • Cool stuff man.I had one of those when I was a kid.

  • finally, somthing 2 make a fred parody with

  • I remeber that when I was a kid, I miss it.

  • I remember getting one of those for Christmas one year...my sister got the Talk Girl..I think they got played with for about a week...then tossed in the bottom of the toy box. :(

  • If only somebody made a version of the "Talkboy" which used flash memory and functioned as an MP3 player.

  • @NEStalgiaholic do you still have the cassest that came with it? Side 1 was for recording, and side 2 was full of sound clips from Home Alone 2. I remember getting this for christmas, and totally pissing my parents off with "Mom, whats for dinner" on slow XD

  • LOL i love the fred impression... but the funny thing is, thats his normal voice..

  • I regret destroying mine with fireworks when i got older

  • Credit card? No problem.

  • I still have mine lol.. Would use it to spy on my family.

  • LMAO@ Fred impression! hahahaahaha dude PWND. I don't get the kids these days who have the 1.2billion subs. What the heck is "Emo" anyways? Keep it real bro.

  • I had one of these :D

  • oh wow..this takes me back. I completely remember this. So retro it hurTS!

  • damn i wanted one so bad.

  • this kicks ass. i owned two of them and my sis had a talk girl. yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • If I recall, the regular talkboy didn't have headphone inputs.

  • Nice, I only have one functioning cassette deck left in my house. The only reason it still works is I took it apart, cleaned & fixed it.

  • so its a tape recorder with a pitch change option. brilliant!

  • I had this back in the day and I loved it. I actually did pretty crappy "radio broadcasts" of baseball and football games on it. Man, I actually wish I had those tapes still lying around....

  • Did you get a Mac?

  • You almost don't need a modifier to do that Darth Vader line haha.

  • Awesome. I wasn't sure they ever released that but I do recall seeing it in Toys R Us at one point... guess I didn't pay enough attention because I think I got a walkman instead LOL. Cool stuff though. Love Home Alone 1 and 2. Watched them endlessly as a kid.

  • I love your fred impression

  • Hey kids, we're home early! Quick slobbering on me!

hahaha I still remember the commercial for this thing

  • lol fred

  • About 8 years ago I picked up a second hand TalkGirl minus the battery cover, the unit even included the sound effects tape, which had some recordings made by the previous owners on side 2 of the tape, I hardly use the thing now, I believe it still works, but I can't be assed putting batteries in it given that I have a portable tape recorder that is far smaller and functional than the TalkGirl.

  • Haha! This thing is epic!

  • I've always wanted one of those when I was younger, the movies were badass. Great review.

  • hey my buddy had that when I was a kid!

  • Haha great video :) !!

  • fun features but a videocamera back in 1993 was probably better

  • did you ever own any of the other versions?

  • OH MY BUDDAH I HAD THAT, that things awesome.
