I have been to Poland and Italy, If you leave the main tourist areas no one speaks English. I'm sorry, I live in CT, I see alot of non-English speaking people every day. It's a slap in the face. We allow them to dwell here, they can at least learn the language of the land. It's called laziness, they spend more energy coming up with excuses than learning English.

I have been to Poland and Italy, If you leave the main tourist areas no one speaks English. I'm sorry, I live in CT, I see alot of non-English speaking people every day. It's a slap in the face. We allow them to dwell here, they can at least learn the language of the land. It's called laziness, they spend more energy coming up with excuses than learning English.

On the flip side being forced to learn a specific language ( Spanish) just so I can communicate with my neighbor, in MY country, where English is the language of the land is unethical, and I refuse to learn it for that fact. I would rather learn German than Spanish.

I lived and worked in Mexico, Panama and Honduras and I just couldn't believe how ignorant so many northamericans, especially US americans are. I once saw a US-american tourist at Mc Donald's in San José, Costa Rica swearing at an employee because she didn't speak english and couldn't take his order. Most US-americans think that the whole freakin' world has to understand English and that they can just use their language all over the place. I call that "cultural ignorance".
