Big Island. Tex's drive-in. Late 1970's. This song. Big, bright sunny day full of boogie-board surfing. Papayas and mangos. Really good dope. My brown hair bleach blonde by the sun. Fuck, where are those days?! Gone, like tears in the rain. Gone. But listening to this song, I can remember those days.
I'm English but spent time in Zimbabwe from 1975 to 1978. This was a hit in Zimbabwe around 77 or early 78 and I loved it. It didn't hit in UK so I didn't hear it again till 2006 when I emigrated to Australia. The memories came flooding back. Great track. Shouldabinamonster!
i coulda sworn Doobie Brothers sung this. I even hear someone who kinda sounds like Michael McDonald in the background during the chorus. Maybe its just me. Good song, either way.
Awwwww Honey you are still so sweet...Thank your for loving me the way you do. and you know I STILL LOVE YOU ! After 32 years of marrriage. I still smile when I hear you come home from work... Luv ya Kadi
Wow, 42 years and "YOU ARE STILL MY ONE". You are the best of the best. And still shining bright .Brighter the the brightest star Have a great day. Looking forward to many more . Blue Sky, Love Ya
This is the song my dad dedicated to my mom. I've heard it on the radio and every time we do, my mom smiles like she got 1 million dollars. This is the love song of all time.
I have to say this is my all time favorite pop rock song. It quickly became one of my favorites to listen to when it was released, and still is today.
I'm still waiting to see a male vocalist brave this one on American Idol, Nailing Larry Hoppen note for note in this one could prove to be a big challenge.
Okay, I'm admitting how old I am...does anyone else remember that ABC (the TV network) used a modified version of this song as their network theme song for (if I'm remembering correctly) the 77-78 TV season. ABC...we're (still) number 1.
just turned 30, making this older than me, but newer than most of the music i call good. aside from some of the hair bands of the 80s i can't let go of, most of the best music ever made happened before i was born. not only are people these days less talented, and less creative, but i'll say this, when so many fantastic songs like this have been written, how can you compete? really though, modern artist mostly suck, really bad.
Hehe I am 16 and I actually enjoy this music. It's not with all the crap nowadays with its voice changing crap and lip syncing. This is what you call real music. Real voices, real talent, real music.
@Bl00dbanez Right there with you! I'm fourteen and I can't stand any of the gross pop stuff that's been coming out the past few years. It's all computers making the music, and the 'singers' are just using autotune. It's like cheating. People think they have talent, but all you really need to be a famous singer these days is stage presence.
Call me wierd for being 16 and lovin' the oldies but I love this song. Mom thinks it's histerical that I like the music she grew up with. May the oldies-but-goodies never die!
@richgscott0809 Couldn't agree more. My 20 year old daughter is crazy about the music I have turned her on to her whole life. First time I showed her a film of Janis J. singing at Woodstock, she was in tears.
@quantumphysics314 hey, I'm 17 and the local oldies station is the first preset on the radio in my truck. i love good music and most of today's music is not good music in my opinion
this is the same song i did for my 2nd tap dance compatition and will always be one of my favorites....
