  • ah sacré ravi, toujours de la bonne zic

  • god, just found this stuff and i love it...much respect from canada

  • Ravi is enlightened. His music was scientificaly proven to increase crop yields of rice over 60%..secret life of plants,

I miss Krishna too, maybe He will come again and save us all from misery

  • @richardfireone

As his music spreads throughout the world we can only hope that the same will go for hemp crops, for a pollution-decrease in the making of paper, incomparably strong clothing, hemp flour and oil (with omegas 3, 6 & 9), side-effect free medication and much more.

We can all save ourselves from misery by devoting our attention towards beauty, and living according to our natural beliefs and principals.

Tip of the day: Investigate the basis of the law of attraction.

  • @vv901vv901 Yeah, totally, hemp rules,,

  • @richardfireone Lord Krishna is here, now...by his holy names like Gopala...Govinda...Madana-Mohana and in Maha Mantra of course: "Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare" :-)...please chant and be with Krsna hand to hand :-)

  • Ravi is enlightened. His music was scientificaly proven to increase crop yields of rice over 60%..secret life of plants,

  • @richardfireone LOL haha :P

  • Ravi is enlightened

  • @richardfireone He was SAI BABA's devotee, so was trumpeter Maynard Furguson

  • woaw.... i did a paper on this and this kinda of music is really healthy :) realeases all kinda natural chemicals in the brain, love it.

  • @muehahahaha

Agreed. Here's another example of healthy, happy music:

  • Will someone transliterate this song form please?

  • I'm Iranian and I fell in love with her voice back in 1976-77 when I first heard this song in Iran. Also always loved George Harrison's songs. After a quarter of century and after George died I found out we were born on the same day of the year.

  • you idiots that want to make negative remarks need to go back to the first grade and either learn how to have respect or get the hell off of here.. this is not a sight for people that have no education in music nor communication... go play in traffic.

  • missing you and varanasi

  • Norah Jones dad!

  • loved it in 74..still do

  • I swear I'm going to buy a sitar someday and just sit down and learn it.

  • This is stunningly beautiful.

  • back in 1974, i wouldn't be caught dead listening to/playing this track... :))

today i have to admit the melody is incredibly catching. ravi shankar is India's NUMBER ONE living national treasure. of that i have no doubt...

  • Bravo! Classical Musicians we LOVE! Every movement perfection. Pure........

  • My ears are not accostumed to these scales though the beauty is undeniable. I will make time to delve in deeper.

  • @ishandewan11 above all else:be proud to be brahmasmi :}

  • @bhaktachris108

ABOVE ALL ELSE BE PROUD TO BE A HUMAN ... if your sect/race is above everything, forget world peace just try stopping tribal or religious warfare in the world. GOOD freaking luck. We're not advancing as humans unless we realize we are all equal and that helping humanity as a whole is our priority. I think the only reason we hate others and the only reason we fight or have wars amongst our selves as humans is because we do not realize that we are all human. LET THAT SINK IN.

  • @ishandewan11 As you should be.

  • @StaceyWinter93 Why bother to compare the two? They are pretty much in opposite ends of the musical spectrum. Keep your stupid comments to yourself.

  • Guzel!!!

  • Radio tune on my way to school in 71 Oh dear !!!

  • This song evokes a feeling of pure love and devotion. Thank you for posting it

  • it sounds like a chinese song.

  • Yah! I have this on an old original LP! Fancy finding it on YouTube! Awesome!

  • I now finally understand WHY Indian music is beautiful and appealing to sooo many, especially with classic Bollywood music (guess it helps to understand the language ;)

  • This song is pure bliss.

  • I love this song!!

  • It is amazing to hear a similarity between this song and traditional Irish music. Both very beautiful music.

  • I cannot believe that i lost this album =(

Indian Music is so underplayed even in India =|

  • I just eva so luv this! Thank you!

  • Peaceful, beautiful song

  • What a boob Ravi Shankar is, he create a uniqely talented Norah Jones, and then doesn't bother with her. I know who's music I prefer!

  • @SophiaBushFanatic blahblahblahblahblahblah

  • @dead450years

he also had some bomb ass acid

  • @mrblinkk oh hell yeh.

  • Very, very beautiful! Hare Krishna!

  • i really whant to play the sitar really badly it looks so cool and the sound is beatuful.

  • I N D I A I LOVE YOU

  • I have the LP and love it. Does it exist in CD form? Thanks for posting.

  • بلادي الصوت الرائع السيتار رافي المعلم العظيم!

  • Weird and strange, not Indian, not Western pop.....nice sentiments though....but the indian accent is funny! 'Come vipe my tears"! Epic fail.

  • this song id dedicated to lord krishna, one of the most beloved god of hindus...plays flute too.....

please it's not a romantic or commercial song..

i love listeninf to it..though i play rock and roll ,metal

  • the music, composition, lyric everything is fantastic individually. but fitting the english lyric in a typical Indian classical tune is weird!!!! no offense.

  • this sound pretty good.

  • Meu...Não acredito !! passei anos procurando essa musica !!!!

Saudade do meus 19 nos !!! Saudade do Flavio !!! rs

  • So do i...

  • Does anyone know what these beautiful lyrics are?

  • The musical influences in this piece are really interesting to my ears. Sung in English but with the traditional instruments and vocal style of Indian Raga... the harmony and melody as well as some of the accompaniment are reminiscent of a Chinese pop song, as well as the lyrics... but the song is make religious by inserting Krishna. How wonderful, thank you for posting!

  • @malibu64 : Good observations. If you feel like searching and experimenting, check out some traditional Thai fingerbell music, Kataro (a mix of new age synths and traditional Japanese instruments), Joey Boy (Asian hip hop combining funk, R&B and Thai music). That's just a few suggestions. Because Eastern music is based on semi-tones instead of whole and half tones it has notes that don't exist in Western music and tends to have a very hypnotic quality. Hope you enjoy my suggestions

  • @malibu64 It does have this 70's feel though... and I can't put my finger on whether it is the melody or one of the instruments in the composition...

  • @sirach most likely the "sound" of the recording (the quality), as well as the strings + electric piano

  • makes me feel light

  • @dayboo39

    ....the hell?

  • Para comentar... Mi hermano en el año 1974 conocio a un amigo que le regalo el vinilo de ravi y hasta ahora no perdemos la oportunidad de escucharlo.

  • I'm from Oz and I listen to Sitar music as much as possible, it's so magical and does good things to me, I love India and the mysterious spirituality in the country itself and it's peoples.

  • wow I love this music.

    soo pure...

makes all the maladies in my life go away for these few minutes.

  • this is brilliant!

  • jamablijah

  • des souvenirs de trente cinq ans ( ma lune de miel ) font surface chaque fois que j'écoute cette chanson .Elle n'a jamais perdu cet enchantement qu'elle exerce sur moi .

    Chapeau ravi Shankar !!!

  • if you like this music you should look up OTT he also does some india and hindu but his has a twist tell me what you think look up the song smoked glass and chrome great song i like this too

  • I think the vocals are beautiful!

  • the vocals kill it a bit, but the music sooo serene, takes u places only dreamt of

  • hearing english in that vocal style is just weird... i don't think english was designed for it.

  • @unin00bster Yeah, lol.

When you hear Hare Krishna devotees from the West, they tend to stick to Western vocals and melody... unless they are really skilled enough to go Indian style all the way, lol.

  • @unin00bster I disagree. I think it sounds wonderful, whatever tongue.

  • @unin00bster

just think how many things are "weird used"... aircraft were not designed exactlly to drop bombs into your neighbours (but they do); many drugs and medicins are designed to save our lifes, but sometimes they can kill people;; and so on...This song would be really "weird" if was sung by a dog, by a lion, by an eagle...not by human...Human beeing are free to express himself with any music and tongue, with or without accent,

with or without someone´s oppinion :)

  • @kickerstarter

itz Lakshmi Shankar, may b its english thus sounds like this, but do listen to her classical, she is awesome.

  • Maybe from a western perspective, but from an ICM perspective, the singer is masterful and expressive.

  • great song great music

  • This is the first time I am hearing this wonderful music!

  • I have loved both versions of this song since I bought the album in 74

  • Hi, you mean there is a Hindi version also ?

I have searched around on youtube but am not able to find it. Could you please point me to a place where I could listen to the other version ?

  • No, there is no Hindi version of this song, it was meant to be in english, since this song was a collaboration with George Harisson, the album was signed to the beatles record label.

the other version is more western (with additional western instruments)

i really think George Harrison made Ravi Shankar and hindu music more popular to the rest of the world, and that's why the lyrics were in english (i guess)

thank you for posting this song

  • This song represents the driving force that make one move on the path of spirituality. You shall miss Him until you become one with Him.

  • Nice words!

  • For me this song captures the pure devotional sentiment perfectly. It has haunted me since I first heard it in 1975 - I am so happy to have found it again on Youtube.

  • As another poster has said this song never gets old i concur.
